WTF i m starting to get rlly mad i wish i was still a noob in ascalon or kryta. there ppl wanted a good tank but ever since i ascended its been a pain. ne Warrior who tries to get into FoW, UW, SF is met w/ blank stares. evry 1 wants B/P groups or trapper groups ect. I think sum 1 needs to think up a good team build that uses warriors (other than IWAY). geez i m getting tired of waiting forever to find a group for a mission or to get to FoW ect. Anet says they want evry class to be equal but Warriors get the short end of the stick and are in low demand I WANT JUSTICE.

The problem is that there are always warriors around, so you always have competition. If you want to be constantly in demand, make a Monk. If you want to really see how tough the players can reject you, make a Mesmer.

We do SF runs with a stance tank, MM, Ele, and 2 monks (1 prot and 1 healer)... works well.

I agree to some extent. Balanced builds will always be used to some extent. What bothers me is people who use gimmic builds and refuse to try anything else. I mean think for yourself instead of just looking up the easy solution everyone does. Sorry, for the rant; gimmic builds are a pet peeve of mine. I like trying out the gimmic builds, but they get old. IMO there are not enough people looking for Balanced builds these days. Then again, if your looking for a pick-up group, it's hard to find a good balanced build team. My solution is to have a network of friends and a good guild who is into trying different things.
I also wish ANet would let you take PvP characters into high level PvE things. I mean make you unlock that ability by beating the game with a PvE, then accomplishing a specific goal within each PvE thing (like one for HoH, one for UW, one for SF, one for FoW).
Yeah, and with my luck, my 3 PvE's are W, E, and Me. I really want to play a N, Mo and R, but am limited to doing so in PvP. Consequently, I play a lot less PvE.
PS. MESMERS RULE!!!! (but yeah, no one wants them)

oh come now...the only reason you're having trouble getting into a group is because there are a million other tanks trying to get into one. Otherwise, a fow group uses a tank for the book trick, SF uses one for the gear, not to mention tanks can run places for money, or just run themselves, and have a lot of solo farming options, etc...rangers finally get a way to farm and tanks are in an uproar...I even see it online (particularly in tombs).
I can go into ToA with my mesmer on the other hand and wait there forever before getting a group (or anywhere other than pvp for that matter). But if you always want to be needed, the hottest farming classes are monks and necros. Go to SF pr tombs with a necro and you'll be in a group in a matter of a minute, with a monk in a matter of seconds.
But stop complaining, because tanks have it really, really easy. This is just karma for all the times tanks have kicked or rejected rangers, mesmers, etc from their groups because they're too narrow minded to see the value of other classes...because if they can't see the direct damage a class is doing, they don't see the value in it...and then they wonder why their group is having trouble killing a mursaat monk boss.

Okay, first off, B/P is the only build I can think of that DOESN"T use warriors. So rethink that idea about there being no builds that use em. Secondly, B/P is sorta a blessing, because now there's a build that encourages Rangers and Beastmastery use. That build, although overused, is a good thing.
Warriors are in high demand, it's just that there's more than enough of em to meet that demand. In my experience, I've found that many of the groups are started by warriors, so maybe you should try that.
I cannot wait for someone to make a build that depends on mesmers. I've been trying to find one for a long time. I'm currently working on an idea for an all-around 8 man mesmer team. The problem is that nobody wants mesmers, so nobody makes one. Therefore, there aren't enough mesmers to get a good group together.

I love the idea of an 8 person Mesmer team. I'd bet that they could hurt some peoples' feelings.
My 1st character is Monk, completed game and has no problem getting into a PUG.
My 2nd character is a Mesmer, at RoF at the moment due to (almost) everyone thinking that Mesmers suck.
My 3rd character is Warrior, a little over half way through game, and you're right - he has one heck of a time joining PUGs unless he's leader.

Gimmic builds?
B/P is not a gimmic, it's specialised, and it's about time us Rangers got that opporunity to shine.
I remember playing through the game, and the first time I saw a Ranger as a requested party member was for Hell's Precipice, and that was just for Winter. What's that all about?
Try being a Mesmer for a day, only time mine gets in any group is if I take my level 17 back to the Ascalon Missions. Everything from Yak's onwards and I've had to do it with Hench.

One of my friends wanted to play mesmer, but knew how hard it would be to get into groups.
His solution? I made a monk, and now we're playing through the game together. So, groups...you can get a monk...she just comes with a mesmer too. :-)

yea im a warrior my self and thats my only pve char. and its true, its a very hard time to get in to groups because 1. they have enough warriors, 2. they dont want warriors, i love the idea of letting pvp chars. into SF and strong areas like that, but the biggest possibility is that ANET greatly improve the henchmen. i mean y wouldn't the mage henchmen carry meteor shower and the monk have heal other? or if ANET let us customize the skills for henchmen that u unlocked for pvp and pve for all char. that way its alot easier and i get the feeling some1 will post that "then every1 will go with henchmen and its call guild wars for a reason, it deals with teamwork"

B/P is the most popular gimmick build right now.
It doesn't matter what classes it favors, a single build should never be used to much.
It's a problem of the community, not the game. Solution, don't waste your time with pick up groups.

wellll,
1st gotta say i love having a mesmer in my group, especially if i am tanking... i love hearing the little clicks or nasty spells being shutdown before they crumble my a$$,
2nd, being a ranger in a b/p group or UW trapping group is sure fun tho
3rd, most of the high area farming only asks for 1 tank, be it gear holder, book holder, torch holder, whatever, and that's unfortunate... but it's mainly because it's quicker.
4th, It's pretty good fun taking 3 or 4 or even 5 tanks thru the southern shiverpeaks, with a monk and lena... a pack of warriors let loose is still kinda cool, and effective.
5th, i havent seen a good use for a warrior in UW yet, and i like my warrior, but he was like a 5th wheel down there. There isnt a whole lot you can tank effectively, ...havent tried it with serious healing and bonding tho, but damn, that crap hits hard down there
and lastly, making only a warrior sure is limiting your fun... I play everything but a mesmer (no slots left) and bring whatever out of the closet I feel like when something is popping in my guild. My ellie does get the dustiest :S

ah yes, the joys of cookie cutter builds rears its ugly head again, lol
call it specialized, call it whatever you want, but lets remmeberthats there is ALWAYS the next great idea on how to do things, and far more than one way to skin a cat.
its a joke that people get these over simplified builds into thier heads and suddenly from reading this and other forums, its all people are using
we actually had a guy bail on our group last night for SF cause we had 5 and he didnt want to be a 6th, it was like he didnt know what to do otherwise.
do half these people really know how to play thier characters, or are they just reading someones playbook ?
i have far more fun when it isnt so overused and simplified.., but thats me
oh, and yes, we took a mesmer .. oh no !!! what were we thinking !

rj hit the nail right on the head.
Discover the game for yourself. Don't be afraid to use other peoples build recipes (some) to get you thinking about possibilities and the art of combining skills/attributes/other players. But then make builds your own. Create, explore, master, and all that mumbo-jumbo. This is what sets Guild Wars apart from the other games out there.
PS - I was a mesmer in a B/P group last night (mostly a guild group), the pulling and pop-ups were worse than normal (according to the R and N I know that play B/P in old tombs WAY too often). But we still won in good time with a very small amount of player deaths. We apparently did a lot better than their group from the night before who were all the cookie cutter B/P build. Actually, I was kind of disappointed at how easy the end was. I tried tombs a couple times the first month it changed to PvE style, and haven't been back until last night. Granted it was mostly easy this time because our leader knew where all the pop-ups and patrols were, and we rarely agroed too much. I doubt I'll be visiting tombs often with any build.

You can farm UW with a stance tank and bonder, you just have to be very careful with aggro.

I am NOT a gimmick and just because I have the most credibilty on this site doesn't make me popular. lol j/k :)
As for your problem, what I'm thinking is start a warriors group and see how effective it is, you might just be the next Barrage Pet group, only without the barrage, and without the pets. lol
Here's what I'm thinking. Lets start a group with needing 2 healing monks and a prot monk, then just get 6 tanks. I would say 3 stance tanks to be your front line ppl. Their main job is to stay alive and prevent the monks from getting aggro. The other 3 could be W/N degen tank, and some KD/AS warriors. It might be interesting playing a build like that. It could work too, I think.

Ha, who said you were a gimmick. I use gimmick builds on occasion too, but not in excess. B/P is not only a gimmick, but it's "the most popular (PvE) gimmick build right now".

I got so frustrated when building my warrior that I ended up deleting him. Everywhere you go theres a ton of warriors standing around looking for work. The jobless rate is just to high...lol.
I dont have a mesmer myself (yet) but I love having one in my group, anywhere just about. Mesmers get a bad rep, but they are an excellent support class, you just dont see how much they are doing for you.

Ive got to agree that the narrow mindedness about what constitutes the right build for the job is really annoying. I got abused in a random PUG for SF farming becuase I wanted to play a curses build rather than an MM, I got sick of it and left the group before we started, they were all convinced that it can only be done 1 way, it's sad when you think about the almost endless possibilities the game gives you.
Fun! Remember that? A few members from this site and me went off Queen killing without a monk the other night just because it sounded like it would be a laugh, you know what? It was a real laugh, no one died and we killed everything in sight. The only time anybody died was when I sacrfised myself to death healing my minions so I could surprise my teammates with an unexpected minion attack- it was a hoot!
Warriors are a common breed, I recommend that you form your own group, a couple of Tanks in a balanced build in ToPk is great.

this is true of many classes right now... especially on certain areas of the map. people get this bug up thier rear end about "this is how this mission is done" ..and have no ability to think outside that strict guideleine... leaviong alot of people standing around trying to get into groups.
i started forming groups with those people and had no issues doing things without the typical builds. did a pure pickup random THK the other night with only one monk .. we were fine.
people get to into the "build of the month" most of the time. right now its SS necros. want to get into groups easy, build one and join the rest of the lemmings, errr.. sheep, errr... thousands opf others that will be left without jobs on the next skill balance, lol
