I've had a brainstorm! 

Ok, I've heard people (esp. Red Scout) complaining about how Gauntlet is too weak, right? Well, I got thinking about how a brute increases his damage as he's fighting. What do you think about an auto power like that, only that your defense and dam res goes up as you fight?

I seem to remember that when the Fury bar first came out, some people on the main boards talked about this idea. If I remember correctly, although it did sound like a good idea, too many people voiced concerns about how if the def and dam res rose, then tanks would almost be unstoppable. All they'd need is blues or a def with AB or RA and we'd be able to run through mishes without stopping.

It's a great idea, but i doubt the devs will ever put it in..

I wish! ma main is a fire tanker and maybe this would make him passable as one...

but itll never happen. Isnt fury going to be like way nerfed in i7 so it wont be as uber anyways?

Of course it is. People like it! People think its fun! And everyone knows the point of a game isn't to have FUN! :)

Seriously though, I hadn't heard of this. I figured that Stalkers were going to get the worst of it in the CoV nerfings.

And back to the topic, previous posts are right. It'll never happen. Problem is, I'm having trouble finding something to replace the fairly useless Gauntlet. Maybe something like the Blaster's Defiance meter, but causes defense and DR to go up as a Tank's HP go down. Probably never see that either. And I still think that Blaster Defiance needs to be tied to End and not HP.

Gauntlet already works that way. The more a tank hits the bad guys, the angrier they get. At first Gauntlet looks useless but if you send the tank in first and wait a minute while he gets everybody mad it works very well. Adding defense and damage to that would be overkill.

I was thinking of it as an 'instead of Gauntlet' and not a 'and Gauntlet' kind of thing.

Bunny is right, though. Gauntlet doesn't suck. It's already cumulative and it's more effective than Taunt if you let the tank build it up first. The problem is that the tank will need a lot of healing very quickly if you let him take on the enemy on his own long enough for Gauntlet to build up that much Hate.

If you've got a good tank and/or a good healer, try it out. Let the tank fight alone for about 20 seconds, then have a blaster plop a big AoE on him. See how many turn on the blaster and how many keep fighting the tank.
