Dark Scrapper powers... 

Ok, I got a dark brute.. but I like playing a hero better for some reason so I'm making a spines/dark scrapper. He's a lot of fun so far, it's nice to actually have range on a scrapper!

Here's my problem, I'm going through my hero builder looking at all the cool stuff under the dark defensive set, and I'm wondering if it's all it's cracked up to be.

Now, I know from experiance that cloak of darkness is not really worth getting, I have that on my brute, it's kinda lame.

I have heard that cloak of fear is a must have. But how do I slot it? I always do 2 acc to start out with... but what after that? 3 fear? 3 to hitt debuff? What about end reduction? Running combat jumping and acrobatics (even if acr has end reduction on it) adds quite a load of end problems!!!

Here's the other thing I'm REALLY wondering about. What is with oppressive gloom? It sounds like an awesome power... but is it really effective or not? Please let me know how you guys slot your toggles on this, thanks.

I currently working on a lvl 32 dark/dark scrapper.

Here is what I have to say:

Dark Melee completes Dark Armor. But you chose spines, that's ok. I think ALL secondary powers are MANDETORY if you are not taking SJ as travel. Because Cloak of Darkness does offer resistant against Immob.

Cloak of fear just needs 3 acc if you wanna fight 2+s. If not, just slot with 2 acc and it'll be fantastic.

I do no have Opperesive gloom. But I'm taking it for two reasons:

1. The powers just sounds VERY cool. You sacrefice health for disorientation of baddies aorund you! Could it get any cooler?!

2. I've heard the -HP of it is not noticible if you have 3 slotted health.

So...almost 0 end cost...minor -HP...AoE disorient...:D can you not take it?!

And finally I think Soul Transfer is also nice. But I'm just picking it because fits my ton concept.

So this is all I can offer :D

And btw...when I say all Dark Armor powers are mandetory, I don't mean you should be running 7 toggles in every mission to kill your end like crazy. Choose your shields depending on your baddies. If you are fighting CoT, turn them all on. If you are fighting council...just get res against smashing dmg. Fightying freaks? Turn murky cloud and dark embrace and so on...

But if you slot stamina nicely, and put at least one end redux on your shields, you should be fine.

And btw, 3 slot Dark regen with end Redux and if you can add 3 more slots for acc. It sucks when you are dying and you can't activate Dark Regen because of stupid end.

Ya, my dark brute is lvl 22 and I have dark regen, I had to 3 slot it with end red as well, but man it can take you from no health to full very quickly! I also tried cloak of darkness and HATED it! I had made this really cool costume and then cloak of darkness turned my dude into a big blob of ink! Ugh! HEY - does cloak of fear do that? Anyone know if oppressive gloom does that either?

Do you ever use the hero planner? I've been checking it out lately, if you run tough with dark embrace you get 52.7% resistance to smash and lethal! That's very tankish! Dark embrace by itself gives 35.1%. (Those numbers are with 3 damage resistance each)

I hear what you're saying about picking and choosing you powers. Before it's over my guy is going to be running combat jumping, acrobatics, dark embrace, murky cloud, obidian shield, cloak of fear, oppressive gloom, tough, and weave! With no toggles running, my EPS is 2.65, but with all toggles running it is .93! (That is with using a good amount of end reductions on the toggles as well)

Lol, I guess I could use up more end by getting quills, AND death shroud while running focused accuracy at the same time! Someone ought make a guy like that and name him end hog. That would be.. let's see here.... that would be .08 end recovery, barely maintaing (with 3 end reductions each)

But anyways, I think I'll run the CJ, acrobatics, and the dark embrace and obsidian shield all the time. Seems like every bad guy can stun you, knock you around, or immobilize you. But, it will be nice to be able to use murky cloud, cloak of fear, obsidian shield, tough, and weave if things get bad. That's what's fun about a scrapper, they can be full of surprises. No one expects them to be able to stand like a tank, but when you do everyone is like, "Whoaaaa! Look at him go!" Ya, that's fun... :-)

Ok as far as the DA powers I can help you some. All three sheild of coure are mandatory, cloak of darkness is not rally that bad as it can let you sneak through some areas if you are careful and gives you a small def buff, cloak of fear had it got rid of it was not happy with how slow it was to work, oppresive gloom was not that good either, dark regen is great and can really turn the tide of battle if used right, death shroud is a great little PBAoE power and since you are using spines will be that much better, and the self rez seems real good at first but more often than not it is just a waste of a good power as it requires that the enemy be close by and by close it means close I mean close like about 100 ft at the very most. Also with the self rez in teams it can be a bit hard to use but if you solo most of the time then it will work well I just prefer teams as they are a lot more fun for me.

But feel free to take what ever if it suits your ideas as you are the only one who can determine how you will play. Also you might have a lot more luck with some of the powers than I did they just did not suit my play style very well.
