| Super long signatures.... |

So uh, why heck do so many people have signatures that I have to hit "page down" about 3 times to see?
My fellow and beloved gameampers, shall we please occasionally click the signature box off, especially if all we say is something to the effect of: "lol!"
It doesn't really bother me, I just like to pick on people... like Govtmorge!!!!

I concur. It really has gotten out of hand. Mine isn't small, but there have been many one-line posts, but sigs that have stuff from three or four online quizzes.

OK, so what do you want us to do? We can impliment something that says all character level info is put into your gameamp profiles and you can link it in, you can have one pic that is appropriate to your sig....
or we can just ask that people start to cut back on their sig stuff and hope that it happens.
If we say it to one person we say it to everyone and that will be enforced no doubt - is this what you all want?
Sigs with a link to your character bio details and one pic or a little bit of creative freedom - within reason...
If it is a big deal, PM the boss, Warshadows not that bad if you feed him first...
Plus we have the handy use sig tick box so you don't have to use it in every single post!

Yeah people with extremely sigs, cut back on them please... I mean come on! You don't need that many things in your sig, and to have to arrow so far down just to see the next person's post... for shame.

Hey, no comment to add, I just like adding to this particular topic problem every time it comes up.

Well, ok, I'll comment this time. If I happen to have to comment more than once on a given topic, I won't sig anything past the first time. However, if and when I happen to want to add my two cents to something, I'd like people reading it to have some historical / bio data to lend credence to anything I may be saying without having to zip off to the bio page.
Not to mention I really like to see all ( ha, not even close ) my alts in print..

Well we could set up a rule like they have just done on the Guild Wars Gameamp. But I think that would have to be something that a lot of people want, and something your Site Manager wants the staff focusing on (you should see how fun enforcing that one is *grin*).
Is this something you guys, as a community, would be intrested in?

If it becomes to much of a problem we can always hammer out something for the siggys but I kinda like that we have the freedom to make our sigs as big as we want. Gives us something that the main site does not offer.

I'm gonna be the bad guy here and support the long siggys. I have no problem here if someone has a long signature. Its their preference to put as much or as little in there as they want. That's one of the better things about our site: the users come first & there are no limits (outside of vulgarity). Is it REALLY that much work for you to hit a key three times? 1 2 3. Phew. I'm exhausted. I dunno if I can go on with this post. It was too much, those three keys. Yes, I know I'm being a bit mean and overexaggerating the point here, but is it REALLY that hard to scroll down the mouse a few times or push a key as many as 3 times? Sure, you don't have to put your signature on every post. Yes, maybe we could make it so your sig only appears on one page of each topic. I know that I've made my signature shorter in the past few months due to popular demand to shorten it. So I caved in and deprived everyone of all my character's names in order to save a few keystrokes.
In short, I say keep signatures as long as you want. If its that hard for you to scroll down a few times or hit a key once or twice, perhaps a keyboard is not your best tool.

I agree with Warshadow. Leave it up to the members how long they want to make it. It is one of the beauties of our site.
That said, I wish a bunch of you would cut down your siggies. I am interested in your posts, not in your alts or your quizing abilities. I like to put my siggy on every post. I need to keep an eye on you all :) If you consciencely remove your signature from posts you basically admit it is too long. So do something about it!
So I think we should leave it up to you all, but I will keep harassing you about it. And as true freedom you can keep ignoring me. I think Vince is going a bit too far in saying press 1 2 3 is not too much work. I agree it is not much, but why do I need to it? I am not at work here.

Nah, I like siggies, let them stay.
My only thing that I was saying was, perhaps some of the people here with, hmmmm... how do you say, "overly enhanced siggies...." should try and attempt to click the "use signature" box off, just from time to time.... :-)

I brought this topic up in the Villian side a while back. The problem is not the length of anyone's sig, it's the repeated use in the same thread/Topic. Isn't that part of the reason this site upgraded to add that option to turn it off! It is annoying to have to page down 3 times or constantly scroll with my mouse, my scroll wheel is gonna fall off!!
Most of the stuff in the sigs is garbage anyway, like those stupid pets that take up a huge chunk of space!

Perhaps an easy to modify, on-page option to stop viewing sigs? That way, you could turn them on quickly if someone's refering you to something in the sig. I'm ok with them atm, although it does add alot to the page length.

Something like that would take place a ways down the road. The Powers that Be have been working on some major stuff network wide and aren't going to be willing to change the forums for a bit (I've asked *grin*). But this is something I will keep in mind once we do site down to revise the forums.

Yeah, long sigs are a pain sometimes and I kinda like what they've done over at guildwars.gameamp.com. Just my opinion though. When you spend your free time saving the world from itself, I don't see why you shouldn't be afforded a little extra space to show off. :)

Just to add to what I said before and clarify some...
No I don't think there should be a limit to the length, but if there is some kind of rule or limit imposed, I think it should be that your signature only appears once on each page of each thread. Do I get annoyed with scrolling down past the same 14 quiz results each time someone posts a reply? Yes, sometimes I do. I do believe that people should use the "Use Signature" check box option more often, but I'm not one that wishes it needs to be enforced. Hope that clears things up some.

Well being new as i am i only have a small sig anyway so i think i can say with confidence siggys should be allowed, altho i am hoping to be able to start a new charictor soon so i look a little cooler hehe
