Throwing in weird names from other cultures may dull the racist flow it seems the topic has. So try not pocking fun at one culture but at all and you can move it from racist to funny.

Wayne King

there are many classic names like the above you could cover also.

Racism? I'd call it a play on words. Sorry you feel that way. I strongly object to being accused of racism and am disappointed that you find such offence in something I consider to be innocent humour.

To staff: if you consider this to be offensive, then please remove it. I certainly did not mean to offend anyone.

:(

RE: Wai Yu Kum Hia?

As long as there's no malice or obvious racism, I don't see the problem with it.

One of the biggest steps to overcoming racism is the acceptance of jokes that aren't directly racist.

The joke above is just a play on words. If it were racist, it would have direct references to stereotypes. But this is not stereotyping anything at all.

And anyway, all races have jokes about each other, it's the people who over-exaggerate things that make it hard to abolish racism.

RE: Wai Yu Kum Hia?

Actually the technical definition of racism has been so far stretched that it can be applied to anything. I could, for example, say that i am proud to be Russian, which in fact, fits the archaic definition of racism which is pride in one's own race.

Unfortunatly, the actual definition of racism has been misused in order to strengthen or weaken a particular individual or idea. In today's times anything can be considered racist should it be spoken by a person of one race about an individual from another even if it isn't in fact racist in nature.

This brings me to my next point.. this post can't be defined as racist since he did not meet the definition of racism which is, according to Merrian Webster,
QUOTE
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice or discrimination

Now since he did not descriminate against any particular race this post cannot be considered racist. Also, although he did point out a particular trait of a race, he in no way said that this trait makes the race superior or inferior and therefore the post does not meet the first definition either.

So bottom line, there's really no need to argue about whether the post is racist but rather to enjoy or reject it as is.

Aye well im English hehe.. So I use feck alot lol..

Its slightly more polite.

And don't think I was 2 harsh..lol

Im fed up with all the politiacally correct rubbish that peeps spout nowaday's, over minor stuff which I wouldnt consider racist nor should anyone else.

But there's always some sad person that will take offence at nowt.

Just like I'm sure my small credit will get slammed for speaking my mind..lol

Sorry it took so long to get back and Im not calling anyone a racist and should of said more on the point. It was more to the point of saying we should throw in other culture based names too as some people are thin skinned and a balance of humour would fix this.

Im and sorry I did not go into detail in my first post here to say more about it. Also I am sorry it came across as me calling you a racist as this is not what I was meaning to say.

I guess a black humour (meaning dark humour) post without saying it was so, was a very bad idea and I was wrong in doing so.

Sorry

I have placed a comment on how sorry I was for not checking back at how the bad joke I made was taken but for this post I would like to say,,,

I am Full Blood Irish and was born there and had the dishonour of spending a large part of my early life in england. Being Irish in an english school in late 70's early 80's placed me at the butt of many Irish and IRA jokes.

So in saying this I am stating I am not a thin skinned politically correct person with a sad life but just one who made a bad joke about politically correct people might look bad on this post if it was not balances culture wise.

Well thank you Taris for the clarification.
I was surprised at your comments, and re-read your post several times before making my reply, to make sure I wasn't misunderstanding you. However that was the only conclusion I could reach, based on what you had written and the way you had written it.
I am glad that I was wrong, and of course your apology is accepted.
:)

Yea for the first 2 things I thought you was writing Korean or Chines phonetics. Then I read them more closely and realised. Real clever, real funny. +cred
BTW: about political correctness, in England its madness: Chairperson instead of Chairman, dam it man is quicker to say than person and countless female chairmen didnt care so why the change now?

RE: Wai Yu Kum Hia?

it would be offensive if it was not used as humour =/
besides why is it offensive? who does it make fun of? as far as i can see it sepcified no country or type of people who it is related to. or is it asia? makes fun of all asia? thats a little paranoic don't u think? and guess what, asians make fun of western culture/bands/language as well, just you obviously dont't find that on english sites..but go to asian ones, im sure it is the same.
i think learning some sense of humour would make this world less violent and tense.

Thats fair enough. Thats your opinion. But as you can see, others do find this funny. Please dont call for something to be removed because you personally dont like it.

This also works in the reverse. People can have their own opinions. Dont flame them for it.

It's getting to the point where jokes can't be posted anymore because someone will find em offensive. The only acceptable jokes include a raceless, nameless, and genderless person doing something that everyone in the world does.

I agree. However, you must always remember that some people will find them offensive. You just have to choose your time and place carefully.

RE: Wai Yu Kum Hia?

The Swedish mountaineer Christer Olsson, has stated in a press-conference that his attempt to climb over the sound-barrier has failed again.

The Russians have found a new easy way to sink Swedish subs. The method is very simple, they just send a diver down to knock on the sub's hatch. Upon which the Swedes reply, "Kom inn" (Come in). After the diver has waited awhile he knocks again, and then the Swedes will open the hatch to see who it is.

There once was this Swede who after year of waiting, finally got to be lobotimized. But when the surgeon removed the top of his head, he found that there wasn't anything in there, except this little strand of thread. The surgeon didn't know what to do, so he cut off the tread. Guess what happened then???? The Swede's ears fell off...

Once there came a customer into the store and asked, (May I have two sandwitches). The store-clerk then asked, "Are you Swedish?" whereupon the customer said, (is it because I said 'smørgåssar' i.e. the swedish word for sandwitch, you knew I was a Swede). The clerk made a cunning smirk, "no, it is because you're in a hardware store."

After travelling through Sweden last summer, I noticed that they had something written on the bottom of their soft drink bottles, (Opens on the other end).

Two Swedes were in Norway on a visit and they were wondering about all the beautiful buildings. One of the Swedes went over to a Norwegian and asked how they managed to build such beautiful buildings. The Norwegian brought the Swede to a wall and laid his hand on it. Then he asked the Swede to hit it. First the Swede didn't want to, but then finally he hit as hard as he was able to. The Norwegian quickly pulled his hand out of the way and the Swede got all his knuckles smashed. The Norwegian said, "It's a question of intelligence."
The Swede went back to his buddy who wondered if he'd gotten his question answered. - "Yes," the he answered and put his hand on his forehead, "Hit my hand!"..

How do you get a one-armed blonde out of a tree? Wave to him.

Why was the blonde so disappointed with her driving test? She got an 'F' in sex.

A smart blonde, a dumb blonde, and Santa Claus jump off a bridge. Which one hits the water first?
The dumb blonde, because the other 2 don't exist.

NOTE: I am Swedish, Blonde, and Blue-Eyed. And I find these jokes hilarious.
