Thought of an idea

I was thinking last night and came up with the idea of having a SG group for GameAmp...unless of course someone already did that. (Which wouldn't be a major surprise)

I was thinking, if one doesn't already exist, to take comments on a server that everyone likes and form the "GameAmpers" Members would be, naturally, the members of the GameAmp website. I think it would be a kick to have a SG that we could use to get the GameAmp website known in the game...but, that could backfire as well and bring some of the gripers from the offical website here. Hmmmmm, what do ya'll think?

And if by chance a SG already exists....never mind.

Sounds like a plan, I'd join for one, it would either have to carry the name of the site or something related (gameampers, costumed heroes of gameamplandia (lol)) or something that didn't point the gripers here as u mentioned, so something unrelated or an anagram:

We would all need to start new characters somewhere, but it sounds cool. I think there should be a minimum credibility requirement of like 20 or 25 points, just to make sure that the person is using the site.

Of course, a lot of us are already in SGs listed here, so we would have to quit them or create new GameAmp accounts to set up the team here.

My anagram vote is MAGE MAP. It even anagrams the individual words to make it easier for other people to figure out.

Rate other people's posts to give them feedback. I will frequently rate the first post of a new topic at least a 3, because that person is keeping the forums busy. I also will rate posts on how helpful they were to me, or how helpful I deem them to others. Please rate my posts to let me know if they have been useful to you.

Hey! I'd love to join a SG with you guys and other people from this site. It sounds great and I know that we would all have the good info on missions and stuff. Woo hoo! Let me know what server I should start a new character on and I'm there :)

well the staff has hear the oh so subtle hint, and i ran it past a few more of them, and everyone who replied thought it would be a nice idea.... now i guess the 1st part would be picking a server for this, so everyone throw out some ideas and we will see where to begin the characters for this sg

also i hate to say it but at this time i cannot participate in this my account is close for a brief period of time (yeah mega withdrawls), but as soon as i have the income to reactivate my account i'm on board w/ this idea.....

we also will need to set up a day and time for everyone to meet, and also pick a leader, so lets get this idea off the ground!

Cool, the first question is...Do ya'll want to start with a fresh hero or use an existing one on the server we can all agree on. I'm up for either.

I'm also open to any server, the majority, of course, will rule. If we choose to go with existing heroes, then I choose Justice, my main on that server is a level 16 Blaster (again, I'm open to any of them and will follow the majority)...NOW, if we go with a brand new hero, I would choose Triumph, because it seems to be the one everyone talks about on this site and the community on that server doesn't seem to be intensly insane, and the laid back feeling of the community is a nice change from the "Gamers, HO!!" attitude on the others.

My times I could devote to the SG would be Wed afternoon/evenings and Saturday mornings. The other days of the week, I'm at work from 4p-12a central and I always sign on for at least 4 hours after midnight

I am open to either. I currently have a level 30 blaster on Protector and some other lowish chars on Protector and Guardian.

However, I am cool with starting a new character somewhere else, and I have no opinions as to where. I actually have a number of level 2 Stellari's out there for MMORadio parties.

I"m open to any server, any character, although my personal preference would be Triumph, second to that, Justice, third choice would be Freedom, becuse I already have characters higher than level 5 on them :).

I did a brief look-over as to what servers people had in their sigs, what preferences they had expressed in the body of their post, and etc., and came up with **a 4-way tie**!!
Here they are, in no particular order:
Infinity
Justice
Protector
Triumph

Let's all vote for one of those, and then decide if we want brand-spankin' new characters for our SG, and the name :) I'm partial to just putting it out there as GameAmpers!

ok if we got for existing characters I've got a couple lowbies on Protector... as well as my 32...

if we're creating new ones... then my vote is for Infinity... or something equally cool... Consiter my vote the random... wherever needs it to win vote ;)

I'd have to vote infinity, my highest is there, although i'd join with a lower character or build a new one. Having said that i'm easy, I'd play any server, my current obsession is leveling my main though (just hit 30!! WOOHOO!!) :)

it was pointed out by another staff member (GrrrlX), that in addition to a night raid, it would be neat to have other events as well, aka: tf night, badge hunting night, ect... it would keep it from getting to boring and we would really get a better idea of how everyone plays together and what not... besides isn't that what supergroups are for?

It could be fun to do. I think if where to be done right though it should be made up of all new characters so what they can adventure and grow as a team. I think a new SG with new characters might spark some interest for folks on whatever server we pick who may feel left behind by all the high level chars they see day in and day out.

I think the minimum cred idea is a good one because it would at least get folks interested in joining to check out our site if nothing else..once here hopefully they will stay.

Only caveat I would have is that if we are to make a GameAmp SG there would have to be set of "rules of conduct" to be followed with those characters in the group. We would want the site to be represented in the best possible way to everyone on that server through the way we play. You know what I mean. No flaming, griefing, KSing, etc...play nice..help others...make friends...promote the site.

Which is how i get the feeling most people who post here play anyway, and if we can promote this site, and that way of playing to more people, then that'd be great :) perhaps another requirement would be to read a couple of the teaming guides that are posted here? And before the characters are created in-game, maybe a thread for the SG where people state what roles they'd like to fill, have more than one of each Archetype, but to make sure we're not all blasters or something! Perhaps also a minimum amount of SG participation/month or week should be required as well?

these are all really good ideas... the only issue with all creating new character is that pesky no SG creation until lvl 10... however, if we've got a higher lvl character on that server... then someone else could create the SG then make the correct people leader, and quit.. then everyone could be close in lvls... and still be in the SG.

If we decide to do so... I volunteer my lvl 10 scrapper... she can create it on Protector and then drop out.

Also having some sort of idea what, and who people are doing to be playing is a great idea... I'm thinking of testing my theory on an uber build of an Ill. controller... so DIBS! ;)

I think maybe a whole section in the forums about the GameAmp SG... must reads... maybe have a quick quiz before allowing people to join... a "did you really read it" but they're things that would be common sense to people that game the way we'd like to be represented.

Also... do we want this to be a RP group or not... I personally wouldn't mind it... could be fun.... just trying to feel out the crowd here.

Not that I would be opposed to trying the RP thing in an online game, I think that it might restrict the people who might be interested in joining us. However, if a month from now, we end up with 60 people in the SG, we might want to look into splitting it into 2 groups, 1 for RP.

Why not leave the RP'ing thing open, there's no real reason that ppl who want to RP can't play alongside those who don't want to. I often play with ppl who semi-RP and even fully RP, I never find it annoying, long as the kind of person playing any of them is understanding of the other (if that makes any sense what so ever) Anyway, i say that it could be left open to the individual to decide, or something :)

Good points NightMyst. It would be good to not have situatation where everyone who visits the board would feel comfortable in it.

Also, even if RPing externally I prefer groups that don't hold to having to do it in tells, SG chat etc. I have been in some groups that have required you to RP in all forms of communications public and private unless you prefaced it with OOC and after a while that got pretty old.

Sorry for not contributing the last few days, work and home have been a major pain in the boo-tay.

Now, commenting on things said the past few days...

I totally forgot about the Level 10 minimum for the group start, I guess what we need to do after deciding on what server to host the group is to have a high level hero start the group to hold it until we all start appearing and joining.

I totally agree with rules of conduct...in particular, NO TACKY HEROES OR HERO NAMES! You all know what I'm talking about, the Striperellas or the infamous 4skin Man with the costumes to match.

As to the RPing of characters, I can get into the game enough to start speaking as the hero, but, I can live without it, as well.

When it comes to hero types, I love playing the Rad/Empath Healer, but, I also like the butt-kicking Blaster, so I'm ok with either of those roles...but, I will HAVE to eventually have a cape!! No arguments from anyone on that! LOL!!

Ok, this leads to the most important factor of the group...(Insert Drama Queen scream here)...Costumes!! Are we going to go with a certain look? Or are we going to be a free thinking design your own costume group? For SG mode, what color combo and symbol are we going to go for. Me? I love the bold striking look, to stand out in a crowd to make people stop and look. LOUD COLORS! LOUD, I TELL YA!! haha

As for the server to play on? As I said before, I have no problem with any of the servers and Infinity works fine for me.

I agree with the naming conventions as well. I haven't seen those two, but I have seen The Nipple Ring and IP Freely and you are right, we can do without those hehe.

I have played mostly blasters and scrappers (a variety of each). The up-side of that is I know how to play them, the down-side is it doesn't offer much diversity from what I already play. I have had some interest in trying a Bubble Boy or some other kind of Controller/Defender but haven't really gotten one off the ground because for the most part I have had to do site related stuff while I play. This has kind of neccessitated the solo build...particulary blaster and DM/REG scrapper.

I am all for individuality, but could go either way here since you DO get the chance to have costume changes anyway. We could all start off with identical costumes and customize the alternates, but either way is cool. I agree with the LOUD COLORS at least for SG mode though. If your going to DO good you should darn well LOOK good hehe.

I'm on infinity, and have a lvl 12 that isn't in a SG, i could happily start a SG, put whoever in charge, then drop out once my SG character has joined. Whatever colours were decided would best be shown as mentioned above to avoid the person setting up the SG in-game making a mistake with them, as they can't be changed later! same with symbol

Another thought on character design, perhaps something following the style of the site? the SG colours being primarily blue with white. Something fairly modern also, anyone seen the X-Men Academy new uniforms? That kind of thing is a uniform, but allows for individuality. Anything along the X-Men team style of uniforms (ie following a style, not lke the avengers, teen titans or others where they all look different) will get my vote, I'm off to play with that some!

I think with limiting the names as well I'd like to put in a vote to not accept "copied" characters... if you want to use another character that is identical to one you have on another server in name that's cool with me... but I'd prefer not to see a Hulk or Superman knockoff...I understand these things a supposed to be a tribute.. but I think that it sould be a pre-rec that we do not accept un-original characters.

As fort eh RPing... I think that should be a kind of per person/grouping basis... if I'm rping with a group that is rping too... cool... if not then cool... I alos think the idea of perhaps at some point splitting off into a Rping group and a non Rping group might be cool.

I like the idea of the main costume being similar... like the same base... say full lenght tights1 and the tights1 top... then leave like the boots requirement...like for the ladies not above the knee... and leave the rest up to personalization... kind of like the x-men thing... the same... but different.

I'm kind of glad that I though of teh lvl 10 thing... I'd forgotten all about it too... but for some reason it popped into my head so.

Right now it's looking like the general consenus was for Infinity... at least that was what it looked like to me... if someone could take an official count that would be great.. since it's pretty much been decided that it's a go for the SG...

Also I know we need to nail down some requirments for the whole thing.. I think the requirments for teaming... well Ill leave that up to the big wigs...as well as the creditibility required to join... But how about times... it looked like everyone was up for weekends... do we want to leave a standing time say Saturdays from like noon to 5... eastern time... then people can feel free to pop in and out as they like...I was contemplating the whole terms for remaining the on group... I think if somone hasnt been on and teamed in like 1 month... you could send a "reminder/warning" ie: Just a reminder we're on-line saturdays from... blah blah blah... etc.... if you do not participate in a saturday grouping withing the next month then your hero will be removed from the SG to allow room for more heroes. If you are currently experiencing difficulties and are un-able to log on in that time please feel free to e-mail us and consideration will be taken for special circumstances..." so like if someone's in school *cough me cough* and finals are coming up... can't tkae the time out on saturdays... or they're having cash flow issues and had to suspend accts... or bus. trips... you know... be nice about it... give them a chance to explain... not just dump them...

I alos think that with the Sg "rules" someone might one to come up with them... then we can post them here on the boards... and have others add or change them... so that we go into this with the original members being one the same page... so that newbies can be properly chastized by people who were in the "design" team.

Also... (sorry mind is racing with ideas) Are we going to make all staff leaders... that way if we get large groups... we can take whoever on staf is on and split into teams... anf go from there... then as we get more new members we can promote the oldest members up the ranks...I'm just thinking out loud here...perhaps only let older members be considered "leaders" after a certain period of time... or creditability... OOOHHH that could be a way to improve the ranks too... once you reach a certain creditibility you'll become eligible for a rank increase... as well as a required number of groupings... that way you're sure that you're getting actie SG members and active members on the boards!!!... go me my brain is really cooking now...

Pick a server that has the least number of people on it. I hate getting booted off. (which seems to happen more when the server load is higher) And I'm all for creating a new character.

that would be a good idea too... I also thought that maybe we could have a staffer that takes care of the SG... like maintaining attendance (just like in school) and sending out the messages like I'd mentiond... that way someone doesn't get like 3 messages from 3 different people about being absent.

they could then also one of the main requireds to group with for approval... (read my other threads.. I had a brainstorm)

Just looking for some feedback from other staffers on this. ( I guess) but anyone is willing to give some imput to approvals etc.

OH... and one thing that I know I didn't mention on the other approval thing... perhaps a special dispensation on approval for people tht replied tht they were interested... that way we're not leaving people out that realluy wanted to join here in the beginning.

Also had a thought on awarding creditibility for like completing a TF with the SG... you know with the badges it's be easier... if it wasn't with a staffer on the team then they must give the teammembers names... and have the badge... maybe even give special awards for collecting certain badges that are harder to get... just thinking and typing here

I like the giving GameAmp cred out for those "steeeking badges" and TF missions, etc. I also am big time into the SG Uniform, love the BLue and White, and perhaps mix it up a bit with male chars getting tights and armor mix? and female chars getting tights/tech/skirts mix? Have to give some thought to the credibility rewards for SG related events. On one hand it would be nice to give some reward for participation, but I am not sure it would be fair to those who don't want to participate in the SG. With the current rewards system everyone is on equal footing as far as how and why they can earn credibility. We will have to think on this a little further.

no my thought on the application requirment of like 100 creditiblilty to apply for teh SG... well I just pulled a # out of my butt there so that 100 is up for discussion... but I was thinking of say ignoring that 100 requirement for people that are currently active on the site... that way no one who recently saw these messages get's there and goes... "what do you mean I don't have enough credit to apply... I just joined like 2 weeks ago.." you know so no one get's upset... but like make the cut off for active member approval like the day the SG goes live... if you didn't way anything in these messages about wanting to join or you haven't been on in a while... then ... you know, sorry... you've got to meet the requirements.

As for allowing some of like teh tech stuff for everyone... that was kind of why I said the like... boots were required, but they had to be in the contrasting color and not above the knee... you know.. kind of limiting the options...but not really... you know if you've got a character that's back story is that he lost an arm and it was replace by a robotic one... then cool... it' goes with your character... I get it I'll allow it. It makes sense... I don't want people to feel that by limiting their choices to certain outfits that we're limiting their creativity with their character... you know I was choosing some really basic... would look good for almost any character in almost any color... you knwo if you want your character when not in SG mode to have an all black top... pick the peak like we had and then make both colors black... then when you go to SG mode... boom... you've got the peak like everyone else...

I just deleted a huge long post for this and other threads, so now I have to re-create it. so please excuse any implied shortness/crabbiness, etc. /em anguished scream...

So the server has been chosen... Infinity! Most people replied that they would play on that server, so there it is. SG Costume colors are as follows: the 3rd from the left blue, and the brightest white all the way to the right. Please see Sapphire's first post on the "proposed SG costume" thread HERE if you're going to make the SG. Caerbannog said he would be able to create it - After we decide on a name!! We'll decide on SG Officers and duties after creation.

So... Costume design... please, for the sake of continuity, let's make the chest and legs "Tights 1" or "Tights 2" Hair, mask, face details, shoulders, belts, skirt, gloves, and boots may all be your choice. For the ladies' costume, we're using the "Peak" pattern for the chest, "Sharp" on gloves and boots, and "Sharp" on legs. CHOOSE YOUR OWN COLORS! I'm sure not everyone will still want to be blue and white when they are out of SG mode :).
For the gentlemen's costumes, again, "Tights 1" or "Tights 2" for chest and legs, "Pattern 6" on the chest, and "Stripe" down the legs and boots. Face, hair, face details, shoulders, belts, gloves and boots may all be your choice. CHOOSE YOUR OWN COLORS! Again, you may not always want to be blue and white out of SG mode :).

Naming your character: nothing sexually or politically offensive (c'mon gang, we want ppl to join us) and nothing that's a rip-off of a trademarked hero name, right? Right!

Now for something that's very important... the SG NAME!!! I personally like just plain 'ol GameAmp or GameAmpers. Vote on this name here or on the threads "Proposed SG Costume" or "Proposed Rules and Reg's" I'll be keeping track!

I still like the req of 100 GameAmp credit for joining the SG. It'll keep the riff-raff out :).

I have posted screenshots of my 2 characters that I've created on Infinity. One with the color variation between regular and SG mode.
