The Tear of Dhakaan

Holy freaking poo... has anyone else tried this mission? and are they supposed to respawn like that? I was in there with a pretty solid group and tried to run this with lvl 6 and 7s the quest is lvl 7, very long, one shrine. we got to almost the end. I know this because I saw the last guy after dieing and running ahead. However in the last section everything respawned almost instantly. We tried a few times, varying tactics, even a straight bull rush to the end, all the adepts and war mages would shred us pretty quickly and there was no falling back because the last group would have already respawned. The first time we tried it didn't seem so bad but the guys behind us kept comming, once we spawned the guys in the main room they would keep comming too, so we couldn't hold ground and waited for everyone to re enter a bit back, but the respwan rate was way way to much... Is this normal or did we get a bugged mission?

There hasn't been any official announcement that this quest is bugged, but there has been a lot of people on the official forum who are very not happy w/ the quest. You can read some of the complaints here. Some of them match what you enountered.

And normally if it is a 2 page post on the official forums and it is a bug the dev's reply.

I read throught the thread, The sleet storms we fine, you can actually move through them, albit slowly just keep moving and swinging and you might hit something. Keep any rogues or rangers ahead to scout and tell you what is comming up. Someone said there is a lever on the far side of the door in the city which would be interesting to check out, I didn't see it but then again we were rather occupied. I dont know what tactics people were using to finish, or if they were higher level, or if the rate of respawn that we had was a bug(I know there is a bug for this because I ran WW once and the room with the warden, including the warden respawned 3 times while we were in the room), but it is definately a very hard quest. Dont try it unless you are a level or so over or in a really good group.

RE: The Tear of Dhakaan

The respawns may never stop occuring. I'll see if I can toss this dungeon into my playlist tonight to get a walkthrough up.

There are places in quests such as Xorian Cipher that has constant respawning. Places such as that require a sorc or wizard to simply web everything in the room over and over so you have some extra time to kill a special boss, use a rune, do a puzzle (etc). Go for a more defensive strat rather then offensive.

The annoying part about constant respawns is that when you notice it for the first time it may be too late to do anything about it.

RE: The Tear of Dhakaan

didn't run this one till after the module 'dragon vault' level 7 (6 rogue/1 fighter) with full group NO healer (other then my UMD and wands...) anyways. there are 2 shrines. and the tactic we used to pass the village safely only took us 6 runs for me to realize. have a tank with lots of AC and HP, with fire protection and some equip with water breath... everyone gather up at the mushroom collectable where the jump path to waterfall cave is. have the tank charge down and into the tunnel on far side. run as far as the fork (little ways past on the left) then immediately bolt back to the village and jump into the water. dive down and just hang out while the rest of the party just strolls through the rather large croud of pissed off squishies. get into the tunnel at the fork and start picking them off one at a time. leave the village spawn be. then when its down to 3-4 left. have the waterlogged tank surface and run into the tunnel through some stratigicaly placed webs just in front of the fork. clear out the last of the agro and you can proceed without an over abundance of fodder.

2 shrines both behind locked doors. You need a balanced party to do the optionals. One of each stat I believe with atleast the ability to get 20 in that stat.

The waterfall is fun when did jump become so important? The village is a one minute respawn. Plow through it or run through it. Lots of fun bits in this one, I can say it was challenging and easier once you know where they shrines are. Decent chest, random reward. I maybe prejudiced because my dwarf pally ate this module up. Retribution likes to smack down some hobs, it would tell you if it were intelligent.

Worth it for the casual gamer? no
Worth it for the power gamer? no

Fun, oh yeah! It is xp, and was fun to run through.

heh ok if the respawn is supposed to be 1 min, ours was definately bugged, we were working with maybe 5 seconds before they popped back up.

Ok that doesn't sound fun at all. Sounds more like a death trap...

Cleric Freedom of Movement helps with the sleet storm. Stopped going for the tears and concentrated on getting to the end for the XP. Could never find all of them, even with a good rogue.
