People inviting themselves

I've noticed in the past couple of weeks, that when I'm with a team or just soloing, I get random tells from players asking to join my team. I feel mean if I turn them down so i tend to let them join but if I'd wanted a blaster or a scrapper I'd never met I would have asked for one.
This seems to be a recent thing does it means the COH population is falling ?

Can you blame them? It sucks to be running around all night HOPING you get on a team, especially if you try to build one and you find out that everyone else your level is on a team or soloing.

And it is obvious why. CoV has gotten a huge advantage. They only did that to CoV because they were worried people wouldn't play the game (you know, people can't really get into that villainous groove sometimes) Dominators can easily whip Controller's butts when they have Domination active, brutes can overcome tankers, stalkers have a huge advantage over scrappers, and so on.

RE: People inviting themselves

I completely disagree that this is caused by the addition of CoV. I just think that people are tired of waiting to get a team. I don't do it, but I can understand why others might.

As for CoV, I'm not really interested. The team concept is far too watered down for me. As a Controller, I know what I do best, and teams know why they need me. The ATs aren't defined as well in CoV. Almost everything is focused on offense...That's not my kind of party.

From what I've seen, there's a large influx of CoV players on the hero side. People got tired of playing villains pretty quickly, but the fun of being a hero is proving that it has staying power. I'm actually interested to see some numbers on the game population. Anybody know where to find that sort of information?

RE: People inviting themselves

It's not just CoH that has people blind inviting themselves. I have had people ask me to join blindly several times in CoV. I personally have no problem with it, I just check to see what lvl they are, same as I do with blind invites. And it is difficult to get a team in CoV sometimes too. I find myself spending an evening broadcasting "LFT" in between soloed mishes.

I think they need to remove some of the servers. Let people transfer their characters to the remaining ones, problem solved.

Server:Champion

By far I've been successful in teaming up in Freedom. Freedom is the only place left of paragon. Others are taken by villions....

RE: People inviting themselves

This is the way I see it. Villains attracts a generally more immature; less polite; etc (you get the picture) group of people. Its Villains, what do you expect? Couple this with CoV and CoH both for the same monthly payment; being able to buy both for £30; these people, who aren't particularly good at playing the game either, come over to Paragon.

I am making a generalisation of the Rogue Isle population, but this is what you encounter most. It is also unfair to blame this influx only on Villains, there were undoubtably people like this in CoH originally.

But the overall damage CoV has done to the community of CoH is vast. Not only has it brought such people to CoH too, but we have lost swathes of decent players.

What Tanks were you playing with? The only time I've had trouble taking down Brutes is in Siren's because I have only 2 Melee attacks and 2 AoE's, no real power hitter attacks. And I've seen many of a Scrappers take down Stalkers with ease... its just everyone else that tend to have trouble PvPing.

/SIGNED!!!

When I first tried CoV, not only was I hugely disappointed by the lack of a city (it's all islands and isn't very real at all), but the players were STUPID! Did I forget ANNOYING?

Whew... I'm done.
