Cantha i believe? or something like that. i can't think of it right now.
the way it is going to work is you must be ascended to go; each character if you want to play in Cantha must be ascended. the place that takes to you the new Factions continent hasn't been said; speculation would be augry rock or somewhere in desert. i do believe that anyone can use the weapons as long as you get them...so hope that helps :-) so non-cantha visitors can use factions items (except armor i'd imagine)
my guess would be that when you get crossed over you'll have to "learn the ways of cantha" and start from level 1. it would be kind of stupid to have all these level 20's going around in the earlier quests...it would be pointless and not a good idea. i'm sure there will be some sort of ascension process in Cantha to come over to Tyria...

i don't think it would be stupid...i mean think about...how quickly boring the quests would be if you ran in there with your level 20's...it would get old very-very fast.
especially when it's works together, but is still considered a seperate game...so you have to remember there are going to be ALOT of low levels running around.
dont u have to just have LA why would you have to be ascended. Even having LA is stupid. Any new people that get factions and the original have to nearly beat the game with 1 character to get them to the other place. You should be able to switch places from anywhere at any lvl and no matter what missions youve done. Cause im trying to get my friend into GW and I want him to buy both but if he has to beat Profocy first i think he should just get Factions

If you add Factions to your current account, and you wish to take your exsisting characters into Cantha, then your current characters have to be ascended. That is it. ^^

yea, i do. i think the Factions game would fall into a "who cares" attitude if you could go in and kill monsters so easily. you gotta remember, this is a STAND-ALONE game.

In the current game, we reach level 20 at about 50-60% through the game (Desert). In Factions, Gaile has stated that we reach level 20 at about 20%. That's 80% of the content made for level 20 players...
ANet is smarter than you give them credit for. They can see stuff like this coming.

New Characters starting in Factions will level up to 20 in the training area and get ascended before gaining access to the big map of Cantha..
This means your Prophecies characters will not start at lvl 1 again, or have to endure alot of easy quests and missions.
This also means you have to be lvl 20 and Ascended in Cantha to come to Tyria, Lion's Arch most likely.

Well, if your afraid of that, just use Factions as a stand-alone game, and have all your characters start at level 1. ANet isn't telling you to combine both games.
That is why you get two knew slots with two knew classes to add to your current game. And beside's the real challegen in the game happens after ascension. And Gaile has said that it comes much sooner in Factions that it did in Prophecies.
