best second prof for ele is a monk for pve and then when u wanna farm way on in the game, or pvp change it to mesmer for that so you can use arcane echo for echo nuking.
Btw, welcome to gameamp forums, i hope u enjoy urself as much as we do.

E/Me for high end for sure. Also I highly recommend mantra of resolve set at 9. That makes it so you only lose 6 energy when you are protected from an interrupt. Max w/ sup fire, mantra @ 9, sup energy storage with rest of points into energy storage should set you at 81 w/ a ragos flame staff :D It's optimal, and it rocks.
For Tombs Mantra of Resolve IS A MUST!!

The great thing about the E/Mo is its versatility. My own E/Mo I use in two different ways, although there are definately more combinations.
As a not-so-flimsy caster:
Let's face it. Elementalists can be taken out EASILY. But you know what? Dump some healing into your skill bar and you'd be surprised how well you can stay alive. If you keep healing breeze on at all times, you shouldn't have trouble, even with a hoarde against you when you solo.
As a not-so-energy-deprived monk:
Your secondary doesn't need to be so... secondary. I've used my elementalist as a Monk countless times, and I have to say, it's divine (well, not quite.) Thing is, although you sacrifice the divine favour bonus that monks get with this build, you don't need it! The elementalist's incredible amount of energy storage means that you can spam healing spells in PvE, and - as this is a great build for PvP - you can keep your buddies protected, and not worry about the serious energy costs of those protection spells! I have to say, one of the best bulids I've encountered thus far.
There's less to say about the E/Me... although you can Echo nuke, it doesn't much matter. Mesmers work best when they're interrupting, and draining, and those skills are best used when taking out one opponent at a time - effectively, of course. Elementalists can make ice foam from the ground, and fire come down from the sky, destroying many targets at a time - effectively, of course. The two just don't mix, I think.
Another thing to think about is Warrior as a secondary - the stances of a warrior help the 'flimy caster' defend him or her self rather well. I don't recommend Ranger or Necromancer with the Elementalist however.

It is a std use, but trip meteor shower rocks, pardon the pun... not sure how you can say it doesnt matter...
but besides echo and arcane echo, mantra of resolve, there is channeling for energy, physical or elemental resistance for defense, spirit of failure for energy gain, chaos storm for more damage.... there are oodles of ways to use an ellie/me
but trip nukes rocks :P

Don't forgat about using well of power or it's lesser cousin well of blood. With well of power you can become a battery ele which can be helpfull. Well of blood can be helpful to group as well. Plus stealing some health does not hurt either which can be done either with necro or mesmer skills.
That said E/Mo is the best mix.

The point is that an E/Me is STILL a flimsy caster, and doesn't have much of a way to defend him/her self without standing way back behind the tankers/hackers. However, what use is that in PvP?
There's a reason they always go for the monk first. Not only is the monk's protective skill crucial for the group, but also, the monk is a SURE kill because it can't really defend itself. After the monk, they go for those flimsy casters.
E/Me might be a *decent* (if that) combination, but if you're going to do Mesmer at all, and it's going to be doing PvP, then it's all about the Me/R. Disable all their skills, then drain them to death. Quite a wonderful combo, really. (Or, of course, R/Me if you don't want to be so flimsy).
