Other MMOs

I know that many people out there are MMO junkies. They tend to join one, play until they are burned out, then find a new one. So I'm wondering what everyone's roots are.

My 1st MMO was UO. It was like crack and I couldn't get enough of it. After about 1 1/2 years of playing every day for at least 4-6 hours a day I burned out on it. It was a long while before I took up another MMO, but I did get hooked on City of Heroes (actually I'm still playing it now after a few months break). I've also tried but disliked Lineage2. The game itself was great, but the people that are playing it really just make me not enjoy the game at all. And I've been addicted to Guild Wars for a bit now. The game is a ton of fun and no monthly fee. And of course I've been playing Dungeons & Dragons Online, and am LOVING it!

So what have been your expierences out there?

im not a huge fan of mmos, im more of a fan of the console adventure games...preferably with guns.....

sadly, my first mmo was the evil runescape...i lost a year of my life to that game...

i also did a 10 day trial for wow and im hooked, the only thing stoping me is the cost.. game + subscription= big $$$$ and im broke =( ...and i am also thing of gettin LOTR online when it is releaced....

If I could clone myself in order to play them all, and still get the same enjoyment out of them, I would. :)

Ok, not all of them, but certain ones. The important fact here is that there is more than one I want to play, but not enough time to play them all.

its just such a darn shame of the fees... because there are so many great MMOs, maybe its a good thing tho for my RL-life (reallife-life? :P)

It is probably a good thing about the fees then. None of us would ever sleep if we could just play all the MMOs that we wanted to.

heh well not completely we would have to work eventually. Have to pay the electricity and possibly rent in order to keep playing..oh and that irritating food/drink thing lol.

anyway back on the topic. I currently play WoW and GW

I've played Ragnarok Online COH trial and COV for about one day. Also about to start playing DDO for atleast a few days to check it out durring the whole 7 day free trial deal. Played a few others as well.

Artistic Expressions, My new shop, purchase various items featuring original work and ideas from your's truly! Hell...It's about time.

MMO,s rock atm im playin Guild Wars, Maple Story
altogether ive played bout 20 MMORPGS of which are Guild Wars Maple Story the evil runescape :P which i was on 4 years btw 8-( Legend of mir 3 Myth of soma Dungeon Seige hmmmm all i can think of at the top of my head

the fee thing sucks btw :P

yes, i would probably play warhammer and possibly RF if they didn't have monthly fees...wait does warhammer have monthly fees??

It'd be good if they brought out a 40k warhammer MMO

RF certainly has Monthly fees. Ill check for Warhammer, but probably monthly fees too.

1st off Welcome to the Warhammer side of Gameamp, Oilball!

And I would say there will be monthly fees. Usually if there are not, the people making the game lets that fact be known very quickly.

the first MMO i played was Dark age of camelot(made by mythic). it was a great game when it first started out and i loved playing stealther classes and just sneaking up and PWNing people in PvP but the game got too many expansions and it became too easy for me to kill others in PvP i tried Guild wars for a few days but didnt like that much so i switched back to DAoC and by that tiem the game was out for 4years and i got tired of it so i switched to WoW i got two lvl 40s there then i just stopped because i didnt like it that much so my friend plays that acct now. now im currently playing city of villains but i dont like it too much so i think im just going to hang outside alot this summer and wait until Warhammer comes out and if its anything like DAoC was when it started out im going to end up sticking with it for a while.

I think Warhammer will be worth your wait.. it could be a great game. :-)

i was just installin WoW be cause the PC had a bug and had to reload the operating system, and on the 4th disc i remebered, i dont have the monthly fee on right now. This story had a point but i forgot what it was

sorry for the off-topic post but this is the off-topic form (right?)

oh yeah and i have Warhammer 40k and if it is as much fun as that(it will proabaly be more fun;)) i will be hooked

Yay, another change to promote Anarchy Online. Before I got completely addicted to City of Heroes and GameAmp, I played it for over two years. I still think it is the best MMORPG I have ever played. And the best thing about it is that it is 100% free now (both game and subscription). So while warhammer is not out yet, go play AO!

My first MMO was SWG but I got fed up with all the major changes all the time. It was like I was learning a whole new game every time they updated it. So I started looking for other things to play.

Started off playing Runescape but went straight to Guild Wars when I got a job. My jaw dropped first time I played it(not runescape), graphics alone astounded me.

Cant say the same about WoW though. There not bad, there just not great imo. PvE content is nice though,

Hopefully, Warhammer will strike the chord between decent longterm PvE and rewarding PvP. I'll love it forever if it does. Chaos ftw

ultima online for 5years, with some breaks.
wow for a year, half the time fallin asleep.
gw for 4months it was too easy.
diablo2 on and off when im bored.
daoc 3days.
lineage2 less than a week.

by far the worst of the bunch was wow the hype was too much i thought i would get hooked so i bought the game soon as it came out a time card and a guide book i still think it was a waste.

the best game ultima online , no lvls is skill point based it kinda got ruined when they started to change the game so people that didnt like pvp or pk would go and get items by makin creating a mirror world where you cant pvp or pk.

lineage2 is a great game but the people there really kill the game.

My MMO roots...

Really my first one was City of Heroes. Then I got into City of Villains, naturally. Those were my real big ones, I played them pretty much for 2 years straight. I've taken time off of them recently due to financial difficulty, but they're still #1 (& 2 I guess) in my heart.

A little after the launch/fade of CoV, I took up Guild Wars. I loved dye hunting. I've still got at least a dozen of every color (except maybe black) in my Storage Box. I love running that game every so often and having some nice marathons of online gaming.

Planetside came next, although it was far after the peak of the game. That game was SO much fun. I got in with D2A for a while. After a 2 month break in it, I found I was booted from the group due to a rogue member kicking & deleting the entire clan. I rejoined with a group called "Liquid Courage." They were AWESOME. I ran my main all the way up to BR18, CR2 with them before our group faded slowly and I decided to cancel my subion for a while to concentrate on other games and hobbies.

Warhammer Online will be my next one. I'm hoping it compares to the MMOs I've played so far. I'm anxious to mix it up and represent my tabletop armies!

EDIT: Oh, I forgot about Counterstrike. I still play that one all the time! Nothing like fragging some guy while I blast my rock music and pick off the dudes with full auto fire. :P
