so you want to become a nuker hay?

[COLOR=blue]hey people of the nuking wannabees,
this is my guide as you know to nuking. I learned the art of nuking by of course playing. now to get started.oh and by the way this guide is for a ele mes.sprry abput the spelling mistakes(i was tired while writing this) and this is my first post ever so you tell me what you think and be nice.

prefered attribute distribution:
12 fire
12 energy storage
and you dont really need nything else
(tip: mabye some runes on your armour would help)

skill build: 1. fireball 2. meteor 3. flame burst 4. meteor shower 5.rodgorts invocation 6. fire storm (undecided) 7. arcande echo (vital) 8. res sig (obviously)

guide to using your hidden power and why:

yes there is more to just having the skills its about using them. many people (noobs eles) think ooh yes meteor shower big spell hahahaha but it is not that simple.you need to use skill wisely as they need to recharge and you also need to watch your energy consumption. yes i kow your probaly thinking well i have a huge amount of energy but you also use a huge amount aswell. there is no doubt that any decent nuker will go without losing all his energy at one point an outing (mission, fow, uw, qf, helping others).

why i chose the skills:
fire ball: a good old favourite of mine. its cheap its quick to reload and its effective as it damages alladjacent foes to the enemy it strikes. much better option to flare as flare is not powerful enough to hurt when you really want to do some quick damage.

meteor: meteor shower's little brother is meteor o nly 5 energy how can you say no it a great nuking spell but its downside is the 30 second recharge time but still definately worth having. it manages to knock downa foe which interupts and give your allies a chance to strike and it delivers a heck of a good damag for acheap spell.

flame burst: there is always a time when you are surrounded by enemies. so in my opinion i think every elementlist should carry an attack which hurts enemies nearby. t hurts multiple foes does a lot of damage and isa medium spell. not expensive energy wise but it mabye too much if you need a lot of surrounding fire power quickly.

meteor shower: a nukrs must have. without it you are not a nuker. it deals a lot of damage and knocks an enemy over interupting there attack and does it multiple times. Enemies tend not to try and run from it even though tat would be the safest option. very expensive skill and long recharge but definatley worth it.

rodgorts invocation: again a good spell. mabye not for nuking purposes but rather for damagae dealing. hurts multiple enemies and if you have certain specialties over an enemy you do exxtra damage and set them ablaze (dont you hate it when ur on fire and you have huge health degen. Another big spell quite expensive but short recharge.

fire storm: as reffered to above fire storm was undecided in my books. another nuking spells but enmies tend to move out as it does not interuot or knock over enemies like meteor shower does. so if you are trieng to keep your enemy still it is not adviseable.one of the only reason used it because i had nothing better i missed miind burn in hells precipice but i eventually went back and got the skill.

arcane echo:another mut have for the nuker. double the fun. double the everything. a short echnament spells.after you use it in the next 20 seconds the next spell you cast will take its place for a while so you have double the fire power. vry useful in conjunction with meteor shower. now if you thought one meteor shower was bad can you imagine two. even more damage and more interupting.a must have for any nuker.

ressurection signet: for obvious reasons you need res sig. i learned half way through the game that ressurection is definately needed by as many party members as possible especially on some of the harder missions.once when i was on hell precipice with my warrior luckily a monk so res not a prob. but i was dead and only a ranger necro survived after poor party tactics split and thinned the party out causing mayhem so without res sig we would of failed.

this concludes my guide to nuking. i hope you enjoyed reading it as i enjoyed writing it thank you :)

RE: so you want to become a nuker hay?

Your build cost like crazy energy but yet you have no energy management whatsover and no healing either...

FireStorm is not so good to use in groups since the monsters runs away from warriors...

I do agree, meteor shower is a must for nuker tho lol I used glyph of renewal intead to have rez and heal party when i play.

Although, since you use Arcane Echo use some energy management like Elemental Attunement and Fire Attunement. I like to combine both and i never run out of energy. This will let you use Meteor Shower and Rodgorts more often before running out of energy. Possible using Aura of Restauration would be good to have also.

RE: so you want to become a nuker hay?

my build:

16 fire magic
13 energy storage

insightful fire staff of defence
20/20
energy+4
armor+5

(weapon doesn't matter, just thought i'd put it in)

skills

fire attunement - energymanagement, this skill is what keeps me nukeing (always keep it up)
flare - deals the last bit of damage
fireball - more damage than flare, and still very useful
glyph of renewal (better than echo or arcane echo because the recharge is 15 instead of 30, use it with other spells too!)
meteor shower - the ultamate nuking skill, echo this and the damage is insane.
rodgorts invocation - high damage while your two meteor showers are recharging.
aura of restoration - not nessicary, but it's nice to help the monk with some self healing.
res signet - don't leave home without it! (unless of course i'm soloing)

replie to you guys

cheers guys for the replies and the guy who added his nukikn stats i didnt add my runes on to the stats in the guide but i have

fire magic : 16
energy storage: 13
and girl who slacked me off: i understand about the energy management but if you can use your energy wisely aand very effectively theres no need. like if you only use meteor shower when you need it. but you obviously need to use it more than that but like in a mission o dont use rodgorts invocation that much but i will use if my other skills are recharging. some skills ae backup skills that i use.

She didn't 'slack' you off. I agree with her, your build is very inefficient. And why use skills as backup? Why don't you use the 7 slots to the fullest potential? It seems like you want to only use one skill per battle.

With that build, you're gonna spend alot of time not nuking and regening energy. There's no way you can use that build wisely and still maintain a constant damage output. I'd only take one of the 25 energy skills and Elemental Attunement/Ether Prodigy.

RE: so you want to become a nuker hay?

Hmm ... if we are talking about serious nuking, this is what your skill bar should look like:

Incendiary Bonds
Fireball
Glyph of Renewal (E)
Meteor Shower
Fire Attunement
Resurrection Signet OR Rebirth OR Aura of Restoration (solo only)
(+ 2 utility skills depending on where you are)

There are 2 combos here, GoR + MS and IB + FB, which can be chained to one big nuke or separated (like, first cast GoR + MS on an enemy monk to suppress healing, then use IB + FB and whatever else you have to kill other monsters).

A basic mistake with the use of GoR would be to cast a double MS, as in GoR + MS + MS, because then you'd face the 60 second recharge that GoR is supposed to remove. Thus, although MS is available immediately after casting it, wait for GoR to recharge, then again cast GoR + MS. This way, another Meteor Shower is never more than 15 seconds away if needed.

Instead of Flare, a good utility skill would be Mark of Rodgort. Cast it on a hard target like a boss, then leisurely wand for 25 seconds of continuous burning (that's 350 armor ignoring damage from burning alone).

I don't see any elites in your build so instead of arcane echo i suggest to use echo{e}. This way you can save 10 mana (echo costs 5 mana ,arcane costs 15 and you can cap it in ring of fire) or throw away one spell and have two echoes --> triple meteor shower :) that is nuking but you gonna need like 3x25+1x15+1x5 mana =95 mana LOTSA :) so even fire atunement can let you cast one shower for (almost)free.

Edit : strange thing ... every time my sig looks different :/ sorry for it, must change it.

Nice thing is also to have incediary bonds because after 3 secs it explodes and damages guys around hexed one. It also sets hexed guy on fire.
Other nice spell is rothgort mark because it sets on fire hexed guy every time he get hit by fire. Even your lame (sorry all guys who have nice staves) fire wand can deal huge degen this way :) or probably one of fighters will have fiery weapon.

Also because flare is rather usless against high level foes i woud drop it...

RE: so you want to become a nuker hay?

From my past experiences, I have found Energy Drain {e} is more effective then fire attunment. Basically because with fire attunment, if you have no energy or little energy, your screwed and you cant get any more energy. Thats why energy drain is so good. You can steal 10 or so energy from your foe, and recive 20 energy. Also, it only uses 5 energy, quater of a second cast and quick recast.

I would only include Energy Drain if I didnt take Glyph Of Renewal{e} or Echo {e}. Personally, I think it all depeds on what you are nuking.

RE: so you want to become a nuker hay?

My E/Me nuke build is:
Elemental Attunement
Fire Attunement
Arcane Echo
Rodgort's Invocation
Meteor Shower
Immolate
Drain Enchantment
Rez Sig

Immolate is so i can actually do something after nuking and Drain is for against cheeky monk monsters.

RE: so you want to become a nuker hay?

Energy Drain is a feasible option for elementalist energy management only if enchantment stripping is a major concern (mostly in PvP), otherwise single (or even better double) attunement gives more mileage. Also, if you use ED you'll have to make a serious investment in Inspiration Magic which is that much away from your main attributes.

And if you are willing to use your elite for energy management, there are other great elementalist skills just for that:

Ether Renewal: if you rely heavily on enchantments and have a spammable attack (Flare or Stone Daggers), this is your best friend, since you can completely refill your energy bar every 30 seconds. Don't forget to carry an enchanting staff.

Ether Prodigy: like with ED, you won't get locked down without energy. Requires some practice to get used to the quirks of this skill. Same staff as above.

Glyph of Energy: if you have a spell like Earthquake which is expensive and causes exhaustion, GoE makes a good combo since it addresses both issues. Some use it just to counter exhaustion from cheap semi-spammable spells like Obsidian Flame.
