I have been thinking about making a monk and was looking through the monk skills. I fund that one smiting skill, Judge's Insight, has confused me.
Judge's Insight
For 8...18 seconds, target ally's attacks deal holy damage and have +20% armor penetration
Correct me if i am wrong, but I belive that there are 3 types of damgae that ignore armor which are chaos, shadow, and holy damage, wands that deal these types of damage to factor armor though.
So how is it that Judge's Insight can make you deal a type of damage that ignores armor, but also give armor penetration?

Are you sure about that? According to the guide it does ignore armor, I know that maybe outdated since that is just the way it was as of the release, but if you are sure I guess that would explain it. Thanks.

yes and no... some armor actually has reduced effectiveness against holy damage (tormentor and neucrotic)... and holy damage will always have its base-damage as there is no armor with resistance to holy damage, so, if you were a warrior and you attacked a someone with 15 points in smite that cast Shield of Judgement, you'd always take 50 damage. (aura of the lich excluded)... and holy has 2x damage vs. undead.
All lies and jest, still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.

That *is* an odd skill.
Holy Damage DOES NOT ignore armor. However, Many skills that deal holy damage do. This is not stated in skill descriptions
As far as I know, nobody has tested if it does more damage versus that Necromancer armor.
GuildWars Wiki has more detailed information on the discussion page.

EDIT:After reading the guildwiki discussion page I corrected my information.

Great idea to look it up on wiki! I also checked out the link found there on holy damage to get all this figured out. It says that hold damage *does* ignore armor but also says that armor does aply for Judge's Insight. Now... for my theory! I mentioned earlier that the guide says that armor also applies for holy damage dealing wands, so i would guess that what ever weapon you are using deals damage in the same way as a wand, you just get that extra armor penetration.
Yay armor penetration!

it's nice if you're farming undead... hitting like 200's with a warrior or ranger.
(elementalists and monks just plain own undead anyway)

Yes, the skills do ignore armor, but holy damage by itself does not. If there's a specific number for Holy Damage, that's what it will deal, but if it's just holy damage, then no, it does not ignore armor.

To clarify:
Holy damage DOES ignore armor.
Holy damage from JI does NOT ignore armor.
Holy damage from all sources, including JI, will deal double damage vs undead and increased damage vs Necro's with their favorite 70AL armor.
Can I get a PC?
No! Buy your own damn personal computer, dammit!
