Dunno if this has been posted yet, but... this was on the front page of the Guild Wars site when I visited it just a few moments ago:
"Character Slots Offered 20 April 2006
We are happy to announce that you will be able purchase additional character slots for your Guild Wars account beginning this summer for $9.99 U.S. (or equivalent). Each new slot will enable you to add a new character to your account with full access to all of the content your current characters enjoy. We'll have more details to share soon!"
Sounds interesting.

Are you serious!! This is GREAT! but now I have to ask my friend for my 25$ back that I gave him for 2 char. slots. They were empty, so i didnt cheat or anything, were just sharing an account. but this ROCKS!
Im gonna end up buying 3 more slots. /sigh

FINALLY THE GUILDWARS GODS HAVE BLESSED US WITH SOMETHING USEFULL!!!
im so happy, now i wont have to buy a seocnd account, i can just spend 20 bucks an get my alst 2 needed sltos and make a ranger and a ele!
and then wheni buy factions i can still get assassin and ritualist!!!

Curse this horrible computer! I was going to post on that.
Anyway, I think this is a great thing: Both for ANet to make money, and to make us happy.
I'll probably even buy a slot, and I am quite happy without having every primary profession.

I've got two accounts, so when Factions comes I'll have 12 character slots... more than enough for anyone I think, inluding 2 PvP, Spare, Storage Slots
Can't see me buying more slots... but who knows.

Right, okay, AFTER everyone got their 2 accounts, they announce this.
We begged ANET for this for months, then after we quit and accept that it'll never happen, we bought a 2nd account. AND THEN they announce it.
So frustrating...

For me, I like the idea and am considering buying a slot or two. We'll see when Factions comes out.

Good news, I guess I can stop complaining about the big rip job I thought only getting two extra slots with merging the games together gave. Good job Anet on listening to the community and providing a win-win solution to everyone. It sucks for those who bought extra accounts, but overall I bet they will make way more money, I for one would never buy two copies of a game, but I would consider purchasing another character slot if I needed, I like having that option.
Only a week until Factions, can't wait.

And I just wanted to point out that this is probaly Anet's alternative to having a monthly fee. Everytime an expansion comes out a lot of people will purchase two new slots for the new classes. So, Anet said 2 expansions a year=40 dollars a year. And if what Unbeatable says is true, then there will be people who buy new accounts because they run out of slots.
They'll be making a lot of cash real quick.

Well, there's Factions, now this. Unless you're spending money on it in some other, illegal way, I dont really see how its that expensive.
Also, Factions is kind of required to stay competitive. They say it isnt, but who believes that? New character slots, on the other hand, are not. You dont have to be competitive in PvE, and a single PvP slot can be changed to anything you need in a matter of minutes.
I think its great...less keeping track of other people's accounts all the time. I wont be buying any, however...there are certain classes I dont care to play.

It is true though, ANet are great for the single reason, they give us the choice, we aren't required to spend any more money to continue playing... sure they'd like us to, but they're a business too.
The more money they get, the better the game will get.
This wasn't an ANet idea, people have been asking for this for absolutely ages, and once again ANet have listened and given us what we want...

Second accounts are still very useful though... 20 characters all sharing one Vault? That could get very tricky... I enjoy the extra storage, I'll be keeping it active :D
