Just had a thought. What if you could have a short message under your characters name when people moused over your character. For example, you could use it as a description area for advertising what you do. Like:
Tras Phoenix <--char name
Stance tank <--subtitle
-or-
Ryn Marcellus <--my ranger
I don't pull <--what I want ppl to know about my ranger.
I think it's a good idea. Might help in matching up people with teams and such without all the spamming.

Sounds awesome :o
There's some kinda Character Description though, maybe that will be something like this? No point in adding a description about your character to only read yourself :P

Even if they don't take it seriously, it would be a nice way to lighten things up a bit while you're standing around LFG. :)
Also, you wouln't have to name your smiting monk "I Dont Heal" or some other such nonsense just to relay to people that you are not a healing monk.

I agree that its a pretty nice idea, but it's to easily abused. Maybe if it were selected from a list of things that Anet premade, and people can request new ones for different builds? I dunno, it just seems too easy that someone would write something like "I eat poop" or something more offensive IE. Racism, swearing etc.

Then they get banned or whatever happens.
It could just be something like, "Water Ele", "Fire Ele", "Healer", "Energy Drainer" etc. that ANet have chosen to put in because they are used on a large scale. You chose them from like a drop down list or something similar. Maybe they can find a button that doesn't do something, it'd be a challenge though! :p

I can see where you're coming from, but I don't see how it's any more risky than allowing somone to choose their own character name.

And what happens if you have a char. with multiple types of builds.?
Hecate Deathwing <---my necro
MM/Order/ss,sv,br/battery
They would surely limit it to a certain anount of letters, not letting people list everything they can do
It would also have to be easily changeable ingame.
Did some tests- 100% Demon
100% chance of suicide
100% Warrior and 95% monk
ACCOUNT 1:
Level 20 Mo/W/Me Apollo Rosewind- Healer, Bonder, 55hp
Level 20 N/E/Me/MO Hecate Deathwing- echo ss/sv/br, MM, Order, Battery
Level 20 W/R/Mo Ares Deathwing- Tank, Runner
Level 16 R/Mo Sniper Deathwing- Training to be a B/P, Interupt
Level 18 A/E Shinji Ikari I I
Level 6 Rt/Mo Shinji Ikari I I I

Exactly. It would be limited to something small like 30 characters and you could change it anytime you like, much like the guild announcement thing, only for your character.

How about adding in the function to save a skill set build?
Drop down menu, with "SS build", when you click that people get to see that and your skillbar updates to the skills you pre-made for that build.
Will make a nicer sig when I think of something ^^

Now that's a good idea. One of the things I hate most with my tank is switching between farming, running, and my several different fighting builds. It gets to be a pain sometimes.
