| Error on Stalagmites enh listing |

Well, I finally got a new computer, so now I'm playing CoH and running up my Natural Controller Earth/Storm.
So I'm researching which powers stack with which, and the short of it is that you have Stalagmites listed as a Hold power when it's actually a Disorient power. (Stalag + I think Lightning Strike in Storm Summoning is how I'll double-disorient enemies)
Wasn't sure if there was a pinned/sticky thread for this stuff but I didn't look too hard either :-)

So your going controller? Then i'll give you some tips I think are very good.
These are the types of controllers I think do the best.
(any type) and Empathy - you always could use another healer.
(ice/storm) - MAJOR attack and movement slow. The bad guys will hardly ever attack you and never run away.
(gravity/storm) - Gravity is the best "hold" controller at the higher levels (32+) and storm will help with your defense, and more holds, slows, and stuns.
(Illusion/anything) - Illusion is pretty much pet city. It would probably be wise to go with empathy, but that's up to debate.
(any type/radiation) - Defender radiation is actually quite good. It will compliment nearly all the controller types.
There is more, but I need a nap! :P I might edit this post later.

Another option is Earth/Radiation or Earth/Empathy. Earth is very useful for locking things down, has a very nice targetted AOE slow/snare, and the nice thing is that both the "Root" type and the "Hold" type powers reduce the thug's defense which makes them easier for everyone to hit. With Radiation, you can really put the hurt on thugs and also have a heal (just a PBAOE one, and nothing spectacular, but hey, it is a heal). If you go Empathy for the second power set, obviously you have the ability to do some back up healing and buffing on occasion. Personally, I have 2 controllers I play almost exclusively, one is Earth/Radiation and the other is an Ice/Storm combo -- both are awesome combos.
Of course, in my opinion, controllers are quite effective... in the right hands. Not everyone is cut out for the job; it takes patience and very good situational awareness. You also have to be willing to take a few hits at times in order to lock things down the right way. You will know you are cut out for it by the 10th level or so, because at that point you will either be good or you will hate it. Nothing wrong with not being a good controller, just don't make others suffer -- find the right class that fits you.

thanks for the heads up on this one... there isn't really a sticky for these but we appreciate it when we are told when we have something wrong.... thanks again, i'll see what i can do to get it fixed...
but um... what origin is it under? i was trying to find it and haven't seen it... a little more help and i'll have it right

I think I might have come up with the perfect controller (at least illusion) build... Of course I discovered this post 32 so I've yet to be able to try it out... Illusion/ff with the medicine pool... great for pets since you can buff Phantasam... and the medicine will allow you to heal them... they may be interruptable... but hey... if you've got phantasams... nothings really touching you. ;)... either that or taking Ill/emp and the leadership pool... I'm stil contemplating thaking that one with Sapph.

I hear that, my only controller is lvl 6, soloing is tough! Once you get in a good group you're laughing though, "I'll hold em u hit em" works a treat! Course u need a tanker to hold aggro and a healer if you're fire, the big groups tend to object to flames holding and damaging them for some reason!
I guess I'm back then... :)

Lol i understand bout being controller. MY lvl 22 is earth/empathy controller and kicks butt. Earth is really best for mid sized groups due to the AOE disorient and stuff :P. I went empathy both because i wanted to be as big a help as possible AND because i want my lil pets to have healing/fort/clear mind. Controllers are the bomb and i handle mine very effectively i have been told. also the few hits u have to take are fixed nicely by your healing PBAOE.
