Hello guys.
I have been playing GW since release. I only have 300 hours, but I'm a working proffesional and I don't have lots of time to play. I have a lvl20 Necromancer, Ragnus Darkstar, that I've completed the game with. I just started a warrior character the other day.
Anyhow, I've been doing quest and farming runs w/ my SS/SV necro in FoW and the UW. I'm still fairly new, but I do a good job....
To make my point, when I'm in ToA I'll sometimes get added by a 55 monk that does NOT talk to me or anything...and when we get into the UW, the monk says NOTHING...I just have to do my best to keep up. No teamwork, communication, or anything. And if I die, and ask for a rez, the monk still says nothing. It's as if they completely ignore me.
Is this what I've heard referred to as a "chinese bot"? And for the record, anytime some monk tries to add me without any communication I decline.

Could be a Bot, might not be a Bot. Alot of these CHiense farmers have American accounts, aswell as Euro accounts, for the prime pickings of these places. And if they don't speak english.. they want talk. That is my theory anyways.

I agree, I had someone PM me speaking another language, looked german or something. All i understood was "Guide", so i think he was asking me about 1 of my guides or something, i told him i only spoke english and he stopped talking to me. I woulda liked to have helped him, but i didnt know what in the world he was saying :/

yea u kno same thing happended to me. sum dude invited me didnt say a word then opened trade i asked him 10 times what he wanted but said nothing we then started farming an when we died i left (prolly was a bot)
heh similar thing happend w/ my war. i was jokingly shouting "SS tank Lf 55 to UW" when i got an invite and the person entered UW i told her i was joking but after we died she went back in. after 3rd time she shouted sumthing in some asian language at me then left wierd huh?

When I farmed with this particular presumed "bot" last night, the only bit of communication I got was this:
We entered UW and took care of the Bladed Aatxe. I then asked politely several times, "ready?" to prepare for the Lost Souls...
After a minute of no responses, this bot scribbled a barely-legible "OK" on the mini map. It was a weird experience.

LOL!!!!! Yea, I have seen a few of those. Atleast they attempt to communicate.

Not all are bots me and my old guild were down there and grabbed a monk becuase there were only 7 of us. They never said anything and would run off on their own and almost get us killed then finally they died and we had a party on their corpse. Eventually they said ????? and rez.

holy crap ragnus...i had the same thing last night as well...i asked rdy and they wrote ok on mini map....this person was a real piece of work...never asked if i was good on energy or anything just kept goin no communication...good 55 but when i ran outta energy on the smites...jerk led em too me...i got away and survived but then he did it again and i got wasted....so i stuck around until they killed him and just made fun of him...but thats funny this person wrote ok on the map too....coulda been the same one...i dont think they are bots...just people who dont speakada english..or jerks who arent here to make friends or have a good time...just make money just the type of people i cant stand

Yeah, you're probably right. Well FWIW, this particular monk's name was "Ala Baba" ...think they were trying for "Ali Baba" (of Arabian Nights)....but maybe they can't spell in English....?

I had a guy last night that would only write on minimap aswell he ended up luring all the enemies to me righ tbefore we got to smites it was really wierd

Ever wondered where ebay gold came from? Sweatshops, and I doubt they are allowed to type anything at all, I bet it is all key logged. So to answer with what limited english they know, they would have to use the minimap. It was probly not the same one either, they may have been two in the same shop. There are MANY of these type things. Careful, some of them will not be what you expect.

I am very curious as to how a bot would work, it seems quite complex, since spawns are not in the EXACT same spot every single time, how would they know when and what to attack? I could understand if the bot was something like run into this zone, attack closest enemy, pick up item then map back to zone repeat. Because it would be a basic series of keystrokes.
Personally I believe there is someone on the otherside, just because a bot would be so complex, although I could be wrong.
I have had the Radar written on with OK as well, and if there is a person on the other side I suggest two reasons why they would do this:
A. as suggested earlier the idea of a "sweatshop" where the people are paid very little and are not given a keyboard, just a mouse (everything can potentially be done with a mouse).
B. Since they are obviously Chinese, their keyboard will be chinese as well and it would be much easier for them to write on the radar then to find the alt code for OK.

Is it just me that finds this really sad?
From what I have heard, and I've learned more from this thread, they are MADE to play a game, but not allowed to enjoy it..
At first when I heard this, well.. I didn't believe it. When I realised there must be truth in it, I thought, 'well lucky them: being paid to play a game all day'. Now I realise it isn't lucky at all. They might not even be given a keyboard, therefore they're not allowed to interact. Surely, most of the fun in these games is
a) playing when you want,
b) interacting with others, and
c) doing what you want in the game
I wish we could stop it, but then they'd just be made to do something else even worse I guess..
Someone tell me that this is just a joke. A wind-up...

:P i started a group with my warrior to go cap spiders... i got a 55 Mo/W invite me, i accepted and went to the UW w/o warning, he killed everything, i even had an ecto drop for me!(how exciting when im dead) and then he goes on to the grasping darkness things... he died and said GG, but he wouldnt say anything at all before that, then he left, and joined up someone else.

So many things point to bots, yet so many things point to actual people.
Like in that case - he didnt rez you although he may have been waiting until he got to the spider. But yet he said GG which would make me assume that regardless of what happened (obviously that was not a good game if you died, and an ecto dropped for you plus he only made it to graspings) the GG would appear.

oh ya lol, its cuz of the graspings interupt on his HB and SoJ, and he didnt type in GG he put it in the Mini Map :P

It's like fighting asian countries in the Random/Team Arenas - you get constant surges of '1 on 1 plz' and '^_^' over and over. GOD is it annoying!
