One thing I'd like brought into the game would be a /vend or /store command. What would it do? It would allow the player to create a mini-store just like the merchants in town to sell the items they find that are rare. They could set a price and go AFK, leaving their store open.
Why do I want this? Because I'm tired of public chat being spammed with WTS XXXXXXXX FOR XXXXXX HAS XXXX MODS REQUIRES XXXXX all the time. Setting up stores with a little title about the types of things you are selling that appears above a vending characters head would make it much more pleasant. Maybe even make a seperate zone for it. Ascalon - Ascalon Arena - Ascalon Marketplace. You know, zone to Marketplace and browse through the vendors. This would also making selling those rare items easier. You simply go AFK, and the items you placed in your store for a certain price will either be purchased or not.
This would make scamming harder, since you would set a price for the items you want to sell and they would either pay it or not, just like at a merchant.
For a good example of this, look at Ragnarok Online... or any other game with a Player Merchant function.

Wouldn't matter. They have this in Lineage 2. It works well, but you still get people spamming WTS etc in chat.
The other issue it creates, people setting up shops in walkways. You get too many people with shops in a major thoroughfare and no body can get through. It's kinda irritating having to wade through private stores and the lag they create just to get from one side of town to the other.

I agree it would be very nice. I would suggest this even if it doesnt lower the wts spamming.

Yea, but blackphoenix, that's why I suggested having a marketplace variant to each major city (Ascalon, Lion's Arch, Droknar's Forge, etc etc). It would be seperate like the Arena section of Ascalon, or Yak's, and the /vend or whatever command might only work there.

youd still end up with ppl spamming wts in any dis they wanted to :/ but it would probably reduce it a bit. :)

Personally, I like it. And maybe you could name your shop each time, so people know what you sell eg A Crystaaline Sword, Dyes Galore, etc :)

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, just from what I've seen of it in Lineage 2, it creates other gripes. Great ideas, but needs more work IMO.
The problem is that sellers will go where the people are. It is my impression that there is hardly the overwhelming amount of buyers in the game, and that is the reason a dedicated "sell here" spot will not work. Once the sellers realize that most people don't come to the marketplace, they will go right back to spamming WTS etc where the people are.
It's basic advertising priciples. The more people know about your product, the better chance you have of selling it. Hence the reason you will never see WTS etc spamming done away with.
Like I said, great ideas, but it's gonna need more thought than a private store and a marketplace district.

Thanks. It's been a bit since I actually payed attention to that in GW. Consider that part of my argument null, but then you run into the problem of players setting up their store to close to someone else, making it hard to click on another characters' store, or a group of people boycotting by setting all around the character, thus making it inaccessible. You could make a grid and whatnot, but anyway...

Some games make it to where if you die you cannot talk in chat, maybe implement a similar function while you use the /sell command. Also there could be a shorter timer on the chat log that gives you the 'This message has been something due to excessive whatever' (cant recall the actuall message since I hate spamming ^^) while you are selling.

i totally agree here... why not just make an auction house like in WoW ? it works great

I see the dilema with all this, it would be nice to have an aution house, mini character store, etc. (i doubt it would work) but what if they had a WTS and WTB district, just for that? I mean it would be nice if people would just go there insted. but people probably wouldn't follow those rules and just go to a random dist that wouldn't be the selling dist and start spamming thier items. and yes i agree with you, it duz get VERY VERY annoying trying to find a group or talk to someone with all the friggen WTS s**t everywhere. and thats why you don't want to go to droks dist 1+2 and LA dist 1-3.
The Characters under this account are currently taking a break from Guild Wars. For the time being, I am diverting my time to Star Wars Galaxies. *don't worry i will be back when nightfall comes out*

I for one would like to see a "bazaar" type feature in GW...I realize it wouldn't cut down on the chat spam wts's or the wtb's... but I don't shout cept for getting into or making partys...so for me, at least I could maybe buy something I needed...I have never bought or sold anything...cept with npc's...I really don't wanna deal with the shouting in towns...lol
So being able to click on a player and see what they have for sale would be nice for me...and maybe I could even sell something too^^

Ok, I would like to see that, you know ur own little store to sell items, but the WTS and WTB can be easily dealt with by simply disabling the local channel, I mean how often do you talk to random ppl in an online game?!
So, in my opinion I see no problem in the WTS and WTB, and also I don't think that will ever end, it might help but not end it.

I don't mind about the WTB WTS spams. What annoys me is having to waste loads of time hanging around in towns spamming WTS/WTB. If I could create my own little clone to sell stuff for me then I'd be very happy. It would make it easier to sell and to buy items.
