I personally think blaster, I can't even count how ofthen a fellow scrapper or tanker have left because some blaster jerk wasn't getting it his way and was swearing at us. Tell me who you think has the biggest ego!

How about Tankers.
What other group has "Jump into mob and soak up damage" as their primary job? The sad part comes when they find out that they can QUICKLY get in over their heads.

someblasters have egos... yes this I have noticed... BUT so do tanks and scrappers... oh my... If I had a dime for everytime one of them toldme how to play my character.... "You need to stay back so I can soak up the damage.
Well alright then... you tkae your damage and no heals to go along with it... dont tell me how to play.
But the thing of it is I have yet to run into any AT that doesn't have at least one dickhead playing it. It's not the AT it's the player.
I'm not a Super Hero, but I play one on PC!

I agree with Gypsy. Buttholes do not seem to have a AT preference. There are annoying players in every group.
The other day, while I was playing around with one of my many alts, a spine/regen scrapper named Spikeasaurous Rex, I was on a team with a really good blaster. Then he invited a tank, and the three of us went in on a mish to whup up on some Trolls. Well, me and the blaster were doing all the work, and the tank was just wandering around the map, agro-ing all the other Trolls, and bringing them to us. Then he quit the team and left us in the midst of about 20 or so trolls.
Jerks are gonna be jerks in whatever spandex they choose to fill.
Oh, and by the way, me and the blaster cleaned the floor with all the Trolls, finished the mish, and leveled almost at exactly the same time.

Now, I am a blaster, and primarily create blasters, and so far, I have not had any complaints, (with the exception of sometimes getting to close to action). But I have people who seek me out when they see me online cause they think I am good. So... like others are saying, I don't think it is necessarily the blaster group with egos and attitudes, I think it is the person behind the characters. Just my 2 cents, er..influence. ;)

Maybe they are roleplaying! Or maybe not. I've have seen all types of heroes who seem to be less than friendly. For some reason though it just seems like blasters come off as the egotistical players. I honestly think that players attitudes depends on what is going on in there REAL LIFE. I play frequently with players who seemed very distant and as a compassionate teammate I say, "you alright?". I get the response, "My kids this" "My wife/girlfriend that" "Husband/boyfriend is".....when I get this response I try to be very cautious throughout the whole whatever we are doing because I dont want to die because they are angry at the world and just want to relieve stress by wading knee high into 10 +1 LT's. I have bad days but darn this game is fun not DEATH TO ALL!

What is more stress relieving than blowing stuff up. :-). Of course if your in a team thats different. I play a blaster, don't have much of an ego, I die too much for that. I think it depends on the player not the character. I eat dirt about 5-6 times a night in game, and I still love it. But yeah I agree that some people can be really dumb, but at the same time I have been in groups, where a noob makes a mistake or two, and gets pounded by the teammates, because he is not playing exactly how they want him/her too. Lighten up, this game is suppost to be fun, obviously if they drag 20 to you, they deserve a bitching, but if someone screws up, don't nail them to a cross, just explain why it was bad. Just because someone is being a dope on your team, doesn't mean you should do the same. As far as that guy that ran around collecting, thats what ignore is for hehe.

That reminds me. Someone told me today that my character (Shyvver) is "screwed up". Saying that I shouldn't have this power or that power and that I play too much like a scrapper.
I explained to the person that I DO play him like a blaster-scrapper. The reason being: I almost NEVER team. I don't like it. I find it difficult to rely on other players, so I want my character to be versatile enough to solo OR team. With my blaster/scrapper, I take down large groups of Outcasts/Trolls with a boss or two in them around 1 or 2 levels below me without breaking a sweat. Smack the whole group with the frost breath, back off, pick off some of the Minions with my ice blasts, and hit the melee guys that come in with my Ice Sword. I switch targets VERY often in a fight, hitting the melee guys with the sword and a few punches and tagging the distance guys with ice blasts and freeze rays. I'll usually toss in an extra frost breath when it recharges too.
Bottom line, it works for ME. He's not playing my character, *I* am.

I completely agree, thats the way it should be. People shouldn't be afraid to try out new things. Whatever is fun for you. I personally love the energy punch for blasters hehe.

Well...not only is it fun, but he's effective. Ice/Ice is a pretty decent combination for a blaster that plays as a scrapper. At least so far at the low levels. I don't get to play too much, so I'm not all power levelling or anything, but I don't have a whole lot of trouble with anything near my level.
Heck, a couple days ago, I levelled him from 1-4 in about an hour, AND I took the time to get the Isolator badge from Outbreak. After that, it only took me maybe 3-4 hours of game time to get to level 9. (That's not counting some of the time I just wandered around collecting badges in AP and GC)

My biggest problem was with regen scrappers that would enter a mission, stealth to the boss, and kill him solo while the rest of the group was working their way through. I did have a few curt words for him. Mostly why did he waste my time inviting me, if he really didn't need my help. But, I have also ran with many considerate scrappers out their too. I think the regen scrappers had the biggest egos until recently. All of the time their going on about how they don't need any help with bosses 3 levels above them. Blah Blah Blah.....
I don't know how Blasters could have such big egos unless they are role playing. I spend so much time face down it keeps me humble. I think some of the issue 3 changes should level the playing field a little.
I read the other posts on this thread about people telling you your build is screwed up. Tell them to "kiss your butt". Sometimes it's not about the perfect power set, but more about the reason they have the powers. I definately have to play differently when I solo, so I have powers my SG wonder about. Voltaic Sentinel is a perfect example. I see post after post about how it's a waste of perfectly good end. I personally dissagree, especially while I'm getting held, and there is still something hovering next to me dishing out some damage. Shoot, the charged brawl I have does as much damage as my double handed blast, and has a smashing damage that comes in mighty handy against devouring earth crystal creatures. Thunder Strike does too.
If you got someone yelling at you because they aren't getting their way, telling you how to manage your characters, or hogging all of the glory, you just need to keep looking for the right people for your friends list. It took me a while to find the right heroes to run with.
And, by the way, I still do like feedback about my powers. There are better gamers out there than me. Just don't tell me I messed up my build. I thought long and hard on those powers. That's when you get the custom keybind on F9, emote stop, and text "Talk to the hand.".
I take no offense whatsoever, but in defense of good Blasters out there, I'm usually the one asking "What would you like me to handle in this battle?". AND, I love the Scrappers I've gotten familiar with, and run with regularly.
Depending on what server you run on, you should check out the players that post on this website. There are definately a couple I wish were on Liberty. If you can, hook up with them, I would bet you would have a much better gaming experience. I personally started posting here first because the official CoH forums seem to be just a Dev bashing forum. This site seems to be populated with well informed, and more considerate gamers.

The problem with this "advise" that was given to me was that it was from another blaster, 2 levels below me. He gave me this advise AFTER I wasted a group of 10 Outcasts. 7 of them were minions, 2 lieutenants and 1 boss, all one level lower than me. Sure, I was low on endurance after the battle, but I still had almost full HP. He sat there and WATCHED me fight, so he knew how capable I was. And yet, my powers were "messed up". Apparently it's SO messed up that I kick ass. :)
I like the keybind you made. :) Neat.

All the character i create in the game contribrute to the team whether offensively or defensively
My main Spyhunter can do teleport/heals/crowd control and tank a bit.
If any hero try to solo on their own, be my guest but overall without other hero helping you, i doubt you get very far.
So i conclude that all those idiotic egomanic hero who think they know better and then find out that they are way over their head and die over and over again, they can't blame anyone but themselves.

I prefer to solo. Plain and simple. I've never been a team player. That's why I made a blaster, but play it as a blaster/scrapper. I've had issues with teaming up. Unfortunately the few people that I *have* teamed up with have been total idiots. So I save myself the trouble and just don't bother. I've got a few friends from work who are going to be picking up the game, as well as a few other RL friends. I'd group with them, or with some of the people I've met from here. But as a whole, I haven't liked the people who have tried teaming with me.
It also really annoys me when someone attempts to add you to their team without asking first. I'm not going to join a team of someone I don't know. How do I know they're not going to go into a group of high levels and TP me in there? (Someone was doing that yesterday on Triumph, as I understand, he was "dealt with")

lol, I wonder where some of those characters get their opinions from. It sounds more to me like you had the perfect set of powers for your hero. A lone blaster taking on that crowd, and having mostly all of their health left in the end........doesn't sound like you need any advise from goobers like that. Sounds like you have your build right on track. It's not like we get any good defenses at those levels, so you must have put it to them good!

Oh yeah, me too. Most of my IRL friends have left the game, so I solo when my SG is not online. I've gotten lucky on Liberty, and found a good SG. I won't accept any kind of team invite without a prior tell. It took me a little while to figure out how to keep my character out of the looking for group screens. Solo'ing is going to get a little harder at the higher level missions when the bosses start chain holding you, but if you have friends starting to join the game, you should be fine. I've used both Teamspeak, and Ventrillo to talk instead of type. It would be a great tool for you and your friends to use.

No, but if someone looking for a member clicks the "LFG" button on the search menu off, everyone who is not looking for a team shows up on the search. You still default to not-LFG.
I find it helps to use /hide. That way, you never show up on any search.

i've teamed with alot of people over my time on city of heroes, and i agree with they're not being a certain archtype for big headed people, but i've been thinking and while ive teamed with annoying people in 6 of the archtypes, i dont think ive ever met a big ego'd defender, has anyone out there met one? i've only been playing for 5 motnhs or so

Archetype with biggest ego's?
I think a lot of tankers have a big ego but thats not really a problem, the major problem is Defenders with big ego's.
They wont heal you, if you tell them they should do something or be kicked they will just reply with: 'If you kick me you will all die!' etc.
And about the 'how good im in grouping'bit (:)), I tend to walk around a lot in groups with one of my RL friends and just enjoy playing with some nice people and having a strict policy on lamers etc by just warning them once and kick them if they wont change.

I'm not sure if they count, but it's usually the Peacebringer's I team up with that tend to have the biggest egos of all.
Either they are a)very cocky in their communication (oh, I'm lvl 50, I know what to do, follow my orders, etc) OR b)they jump into their other form and start blasting indiscriminantly by my scrapper, drawing more aggro, but becoming quickly overwhelmed... then they leave me to clean up the mess while they go get healed or something...
I definitely understand that level 50 players can mess up, or be incredibly arrogant, but ignorant at the same time. Acursed egos! Then again, maybe I ran into people who a) power-leveled or b) bought their account. I don't know for sure... but Peacebrings get my vote.

(Actually, the one to my right just objected that he's playing his Warshade, as though that really makes a dif. He still powerleveled from 20 to 50.)

I'm not going to say a name, but there's one who will tell you she's an expert healer. Don't even ask her to do any actual fighting, not even if nobody needs the tiniest bit of healing, or you will really hear it.

I think out of them all, tanks get the least angry about there deaths. My reasoning for this is because they don't die as often as blasters. Blasters on the other hand tend to get really angry when they die (because it's about their 1 billionth time and they hit the debt cap at lvl 24), but not all of us get angry. But hey, its also about the same as saying....hmmm I don't know cause I forgot what I was going to say.

Two thumbs up!! I totally agree with you! I have a energy/energy blaster and I play him as a scrapper, he has melee punch attacks...what am I gonna do? Yeah, he has a bunch of ranged attacks, but, when the tanker drops aggro when he dies and they come rushing at the rest of us, lemme tell ya, a good well placed power thrust will get the biggest bad ass away from me while the next punch will knock the other loopy for a sec giving me time for the energy blast to recharge. I've only played him in 3 teams his entire run to 21 so far...meaning I've soloed him 98% of the time since his birth, and I don't think that's too bad, and he's only died 2 times, both on teams. As a solo hero, he kicks ass and can take on a +2 mob by himself and survive with more then half his health intact.
The brightest moment for Djinn Rummy was on a pick up team cause I was bored out of my mind and it was +1's to me and even level for the rest, they died and I cleaned up the whole mob...right after the tanker was telling me how bad my power choices sucked and I should have chosen this or that and slotted it this way or that way.
To him I said, "blah blah blah, oh yeah, my build really sucks, blah blah blah, I'm so gimped I'll never be able to do anything with him"

For me... my Tank has the biggest ego. As Cap says, "Teams need tanks. Tanks don't need teams." However, that is all in good fun trash talking. LOL

I always love scrappers, but now that they have realesed Archery for blasters... it's hard to say...
Master Pheonix is a Katana scrapper, and his sidekick Arab Pheonix is a Archery Blaster
i like both of these so i'd say it's a tie.

im fed up of scrappers and here egos. they all try and tank.
all like look see i own and i going 2 go get that mob and kik there ass, wat 1 u say the 1 there with the boss in next 2 the other mobs.
yeah ok here i go
he sprints off and goes straight for the boss. 2 mins later he moaning that he died and we not back him up.... never his fualt

Im gonna have to say in the late game 40+ that scrappers have the biggest ego...my lv 43 kat//SR scrapper and a bunch of my friends put in our search comments TANKS WISH THEY WERE ME!!!!
is that not a little on the over egotistical side??
