I love summoners, and if the mastermind skillsets were available in say, guild wars or something, I would dive on them like a hellion on a ham sandwich. But in a city of super powered heroes, villains, and mystical beings, the powers available to MMs leave me feeling somewhat...not-super. I mean, there are hardly any powers available to MMs that could not be excused as natural in origin.
Anyone know a way for me to put spunk back in my summoning?

You developed your mutant abilities to create force fields at a young age, charging people for "protection" at public events and the like in Paragon City. Eventually you amassed some wealth and power, "retired" to the Rogue Islands and spent some of that money hiring a team of Mercs to help in your new life of crime...or you used some of that wealth and power to create an army of super-robots...
Another possibility could be the ability to manipulate machinary (Robotics), a limited form of mind control (ninjas, mercs, thugs), magical summoning abilities (zombies, ninjas), etc etc. There are lots of origin possibilities.

Well, just because one does not have any real 'super' powers does not make him less evil. Not even the 'diet coke' of evil.
Lex Luthor comes to mind. He was the perfect mold for a MasterMind. No real powers, but he made due with his intellect and how he was able to manipulate others to do his bidding.

Lex luthor DID have powers. He coule have a bald head and totally still look cool! If only that was a power set...

Natural Origin..
Ninja/TA.. you are the master ninja who specializes in the Bow.. and you have followers or deciples.. it is the 21st century and who better to adapt there weapons to be more effective than Ninjas...

Its all a matter of creativity and how you want to percieve it.
My mm summons zombies, but in keeping with my character (a tribute to golden age villains), I don't refer to them as my zombies/undead, but rather as my Atomic Super Men.
Just a little something to keep in mind.

my character was born 825 years ago. he was a priest and long story short, he was branded a heretic and was burned alive. so now he's back and doesnt know who helped him, demons or angels.
so i put him under natural, cause i dont want him to be a magical being or anything. i consider him natural because he came back from will. and i consider the mercs which arent that powerful holy demon knights, lol. so even though they arent that powerful i still consider them super beings :D
