Passing of a Legend

I'm not sure how up to date people are on the news, but I discovered at about 1:30am EDT this morning that Christopher Reeves passed away at the age of 52 after falling into a coma yesterday as a result of a cardiac arrest. I'm not sure I can put into words what this one actor meant to me, but I will try. Like many of us I grew up with the "Superman" movies in which Mr. Reeves portrayed the man of steel. Heh, and although I could never understand how a curlieque of hair and a pair of thick glasses defined the difference between Clark Kent and Superman, he was still one of my favorite comic book heroes. In later years, after his accident, he became even more of a hero in both his struggle to walk again and his advocation for research into Paralysis . I am going to miss you Mr. Reeves, thank you for everything you've done for the imagination of children everywhere and for the advances you helped to create in paralysis medical procedures. Though you may not have gotten the chance to walk again you strode among giants and flew through the stars, and for this fan you will always be remembered as such.

Re: Passing of a Legend

It was sad news indeed. Last I had heard I thought he was continuing to do well so it came as a bit of a surprise. I was surprised to hear about the death of Rodney Dangerfield too. He seemed to be doing well then had a major setback.

Been a bad week for old legends. A man of steel and a man who could get no respect. Both will be missed.

Re: Passing of a Legend

That's awful. The last update I'd heard on him was that he was doing well and that he had hopes to walk again. I know that his last appearance on Smallville was cancled and he was replaced by Margot Kidder (psycho ;) because he was feeling a bit week, but he had hopes to walk again.

It's just a shame, He was something else.

Re: Passing of a Legend

As a tribute to Christopher Reeves, my main is wearing a red "S" on his chest. I was talking to a friend, we aggreed that perhaps the devs could do something permanent in-game as a tribute, such as a statue, would b nice

Re: Passing of a Legend

Yeah, sad news for sure. I had my 3rd costume slot with a Superman costume already. I edited some of my client side files to replace the "S" with the Superman Shield and the "Fade Line" cape pattern with the shield for the cape. I thought this was great, and now, in light of recent events, I changed that costume from the normal primary colors to black an gray for the next week.
