| Pre-Download for I7 on Test |

The pre-download for Issue 7 is currently on the test server. For those of you who are not experienced with past issue updates, the download will start AFTER you log in and sign off the test server.
Note, this will NOT change anything and will not add issue 7 to your test server yet, however, it will download the necessary update files for when they DO activate it.
This is a good sign, as it means that most of the internal testing is done and it's just about ready for "real world" testing. So we should be seeing it on the test server "Soon" ™.

How do I access the Training Room Server?
Answer
In order to access the test server, you will need to download and install a second copy of the game that installs the test files to your PC. The steps for this process are outlined below.
1. Locate the file 'CohUpdater.exe'. If the game was installed to the default folder then look for: 'C:\Program Files\City of Heroes'. Do not create a shortcut for the desktop shortcut. To do this, you will have to locate the City of Heroes folder.
2. After you locate the City of Heroes folder, you will need to create a new shortcut to the cohupdater.exe file in the City of Heroes folder. To create a shortcut, right click on the file you wish to create a shortcut for. You can then select an option 'Create Shortcut' which will then create the shortcut.
3. Right click on the new shortcut and open the "properties" option.
4. In the 'Target' window, add the following flag to the end of the line:
[space]-test
Do NOT add the word [space] to the Target. The example shown is intended to visually represent a single keystroke of the space bar, and should not be interpreted literally. An example of the correct use of the Flag is listed below.
The finished selection should look like this after you add the flag:
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe" -test
Below are possible incorrect additions of the flag to add the test client. The selection should NOT look like this:
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe"-test
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater-test.exe"
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe-test"
"C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe"[SPACE]-test
5. Run the shortcut.
The first time you run the shortcut, you will be asked whether you want to install the test client to the default directory. Choose 'Yes' if you want to install it there, or choose 'No' if you want to choose a different directory. We strongly recommended that you install the test client to a different location than your normal game client.
After the client installs, you will need to copy a character over to the test server. To do this, go to this URL:
https://secure.cityofheroes.com/cgi-bin/coh_transfer.pl
Use your City of Heroes login name and password to login.
After you login, you will be able to select the server and character you wish to copy to the test server. It will take several moments, but the character will copy. At this point you will be able to play the test server.
NOTE - Those who have just restarted their accounts may experience a delay or wait of up to 24 hours to be able to copy a character to the test server.
After you copy your character to the test server, you should be able to play the test client. Before you can play however, you will have to run the new shortcut you created to the cohupdater. You can copy the shortcut you created to the desktop by dragging and dropping it from the City of Heroes folder to the desktop. You will have to run this shortcut each time you wish to use the test server. Enjoy playing!

Same test server for both products. If your account supports both CoH and CoV, it will work on test as well.

The test server is a server that the developers have set up so that they can test out new patches and updates on a semi-live server before putting them up on the actual live servers.
You can transfer characters from the live server to the test server, but not BACK to the live servers. (The transfer only transfers a copy of the character, nothing happens to the original.)
A side effect of this server is that you can log in and test builds, or new powers. So if you level and you're not sure what to pick for a power, transfer your character to the test server before training the level, test out the power you want to try. You can also test out a respec as well over there, if you have one.
It's a handy tool.

FYI:
Known Issues on the Test Server
-In Mayhem missions, if the side mission to free an imprisoned villain appears, and players free the villain, the mission map may crash.
-There is a rare client crash bug when loading zones. This has been most frequent going to or coming from Port Oakes.
-Some base configurations that were valid in Issue 6 are no longer allowed in Issue 7. If your base is invalid, you will be able to delete or move objects to make it fit the new rules.
-Issue 7 is not fully optimized yet. Players with low end systems may have serious performance issues.
-There is a rare client crash that may occur if you minimize/restore the game.
-The game is not currently compatible with Ageia physics cards. This will be fixed shortly. Ageia physics software should work properly in Issue 7.
-Although characters now keep their Origin-based attack power past level 10, characters who have already lost the power by leveling up are not being given the power back. This is a bug and will be addressed in a later patch.

Too cool. Spent some time cruising Grandville tonight. Found Guttersnipe Badge and Master of the Airwaves. AND FINALLY---Upgrade for Mastermind Robots is as fast as Equip! No more 5 minutes to prep for a mission. So sweet. Of course that Level 47 Behemoth behind the rock sorta owned me real quick. LOL
