I'm totally into GWF now and play it with love, every day. (to the haters: at least GWF isn't a total copy of GWP)
BUT!!! Microsoft spoils my fun!!! Windows distributes this fun lil' program called DirectX. It's used to play most (if not all) of your games and hacks a long way into your registry keys, folders, games, etc. When installing GWF, you can also choose to install DirectX 9.0c. And here's the problem: Windows doesn't recognise 9.0c!!! It recognises it as 8.012something. If you don't believe me, press F11, click advanced and then gaze upon how Guild Wars thinks of your lil' program.
I've send a mail to PlayNC about this, and they're currently working on my question(s). (I simply love they're effective way of awnsering)
I've also surfed around and read some forums/pages about this demonic program. You can uninstall the DirectX via Happy DirectX Uninstall (which I don't approve, cus it doesn't work, and it slowed down my pc). There is also a way to "update" DirectX's files to get the 9.0c running. (also didn't work, and not sure if it has done any harm or good to my pc).
I've also read that it was a known problem over at Bill Gates & Co., but they won't do anything about it. They won't distribute patches, uninstalls or anything. Just updates, which I downloaded, but it still doesn't add a f--- for this f-ing DirectX.
Maybe I'm a winer, but if anyone knows how to fix this, please lemme know.
I'll also post my coming reaction from PlayNC.
Thanks, Blaze

The gaming world would be a much happier place if more games where developed under OpenGL instead of Direct3d.
So did you install Directx from the Guild Wars CD or download it from the web? What problems are you having in Guildwars that you believe are related to Directx? Also can we see the output of 'dxdiag' on your machine? (type dxdiag in start->run without the quotes)
Welcome to Gameamp btw.

Try to go to Windows update and see if you can pull down the right version of DirectX. Both of my PCs have GW installed and recognize the right version.

Hallelujah!!!
I downloaded SP2 for XP now, and finally windows recognises DirectX 9.0c for DirectX 9.0c. Tnx2u2 for the tips!!!
But! (You didn't think I was finished yet, do u?) Guild Wars still says "renderer directx 8". Well, gonna try to re-install GW now, hoping that'll work. And as for thinking what DirectX should add to my way of playin GW: since I downloaded SP2 and windows got to know 9.0c a lil' better, I've had this huge lag/screenbugs decreasements. Tnx y'all, and I'll let u know.
BTW, it's not cus I hate Microsoft so much, but isn't it odd that all the things have to be updated, improved, registered etc. at least once a day? Or is that just me?

You're video card does not support Directx 9 probably. What video card do you have?

Make sure your graphic card supports DirectX 9 renderer. If not, the best you can run is whatever the card allows you to.
Try reinstalling DirectX (which I assume you already did), graphic driver, then GWF.
