Beta givaway fanfiction question

So it says that they are rewarding 5 to the best community writers, and i notice most have multiple posts for each chapter. I was just wondering if the judging is based on how many chapters(or submitions)the person has and if so would it be better to have shorter but more chapters instead of a few longer ones? Also is there only one story allowed, or is again judged by the amount of submitions all added together?

Re: Beta givaway fanfiction question

Those that just submit one story have the same chance as someone that submits multiple stories as writing style and story line seldom changes. There is a story series or two that we do enjoy however. We don't give more favor to one over the other. Everything submitted up until this Friday will count for this week's contest. Those submitted after Friday, will go to the next week's contest.

Re: Beta givaway fanfiction question

well i decided to split mine up into parts, and i just submitted the first part :) one more question, if i can't finish it by this friday but still have like 4-5 parts submitted which means im counted for this weeks contest...if i lose would i still be able to compete for next weeks contest when i finish the story?

Re: Beta givaway fanfiction question

im still a little confused about it, if i post up 5 or 6 parts to my story by tomorrow but then don't win this sunday and continue to add to the story, will only the chapters 7+ count towards the next weeks contest or will the entire story?

Re: Beta givaway fanfiction question

I just posted mine. One big story it was.

I hope that the stories from now get re-entered in the next week's contest because there is not much that I can go with my story and it seems quite well and finished to me.

One question: How do you get a picture next to your name on there?

Re: Beta givaway fanfiction question

I'm going slowly with mine. In retrospect, I'm not really happy at all with the first part of my story.
I was going for Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams by way of R.A. Salvatore and it came out more like Jethro Hillbilly by way of Rainman.

Re: Beta givaway fanfiction question

All submissions after Friday at midnight PST, will be automatically entered in the contest that ends two weeks from now. So, if you don't make it this weekend you have two weeks to try again. :)

Re: Beta givaway fanfiction question

im sorry ( i know i must be annoying by now ) but im still confused, you say that anything submitted after midnight tonight will be counting for the next 2 weeks, but what about the submissions before midnight? I've submitted 8 chapters so far and am not sure if i can finish it by midnight tonight, if i dont win this weekend will my entire story count for next week and the week after, or jsut the final 2-3 chapters?

Re: Beta givaway fanfiction question

When reading submissions after tonight, we'll no doubt take previous submissions into consideration as we judge the story line in a series of submissions. However, only submissions after tonight will be eligible for the next contest in two weeks. We'll end the contest at midnight tonight and will announce the winners on Sunday. The winners will be notified before the announcement via email and Private Message on the site.

Good luck!

Re: Beta givaway fanfiction question

I settled on a couple of vignettes, rather than a cohesive story line. I eventually want to do a novel, but I'd be afraid of it coming out looking derivative, particularly after the LOTR movies. Hard to do high fantasy any more without drawing the inevitable comparison.

Anyhoo, good luck to everyone who dropped their masterpieces on Gameamp. I've been poring through the competition all day, and it's going to be a tight race, all right. :)

Re: Beta givaway fanfiction question

How long did it take them to add your fan fiction? I have submitted two both on the 14th and am yet to see them up there.

by the way, i have read a lot of awesome fan fiction and am hoping to see more, it will be fun to see who wins.

Re: Beta givaway fanfiction question

In answer to your question, my three stories were posted within 1-2 hours of submission, in at least one case within 15 minutes. No large sums of platinum changed hands, either. I think it's just a matter of catching an admin on.

If it's been this long and you haven't seen anything of your submission, then I'd suggest you PM the site admin to confirm receipt. It's entirely possible the internet ate it.

Re: Beta givaway fanfiction question

OK .. so i received a PM from Orchist saying that I was one of the winners of the contest... "Hurray me!" I think to myself.. all those years of school have finally accounted for something!

The message says to check the email I registered with. Eagerly, I pop into outlook and check my email...

nothin.

so I go back to the site to confirm that my email address is correct. Check and double check. Yep.. right email address, but no emails.

Then i see the contest update that says that they have extended the contest and now anything posted AFTER 15 october will be counted for the new one... but my stories were all posted BEFORE 15th october ... so i am thinking that I won the first fan fiction contest... but they have posted the names of the winners, and I am not on the list ...

colour me confused...

Orchist, or anyone else, if you can shed some light on my otherwise dim existence, please feel free to do so..

waiting with baited breath,
Tristraam

PS.. feel free to check out my stories in the fan fiction section and judge for yourself whether they are any good (I like comments .. even negative ones :)
