I have said it before..eventually GW will fall to bots as has every other MMO..now the time has come.. the invasion has begun and eventually the GW economy will fall apart..
Observe international and American (THEY ACTUALLY SPILLED INTO AMERICAN DISTRICTS!!) of Elona 1. You will notice that all bots follow a pattern (i'll add screens in a second) and act in the open. This of course proves my theory that ANet cant directly ban botters from specific countries due to their laws.

the minos pay well and are one of the few remaining wide known farming spots.
Once this is nerfed which will happen in the near future then we shall see these bots go elsewhere. Perhaps even to factions.
I dont understand your point or theory that Anet cant directly ban botters from specific countries.
Blizzard does it all the time in World of Warcraft and if you put out a product with a set of rules and then someone comes along and breaks those rules ofcourse you can ban them.
Its quite simple, if you want to play my game then you follow the rules otherwise you are finished.
Isn't what your saying something along the lines of the following.
With the following soccer worldcup just on the horizon, China, Japan, South Korea or whichever countries you may be referring to Nihil, have decided not to follow the FIFA rules and instead operate under their own countries rules applied to the game of soccer. From what your saying Nihil, they cannot be banned for this behaviour.
This scenario one can obviosuly see is not going to happen and i believe would operate exactly the same in the Game of Guildwars as in the World cup of Soccer.
Can you explain your position more on whaty ou are trying to say so that i can understand it better?

See here is the path they follow. The red line is how they go.
Edit: I took about 20 screenshots but i'm too lazy to post them all unless it is absolutely necessary. Anyway my worry is that if they can operate on such a scale and in the open....how long before we reach the point of D2 and other games ruined by bots?

Sure.
My theory is as follows:
Since every country has it's own individual laws as well as international laws, some parts of the EULA might be in conflict with the laws of that country. For example, if a country passes a law that says "Gold for Cash is a legal buisness in this country" (of course it will be in more technical terms and whatnot. this is just an example for simplicity). So any company that wishes to sell an MMO in that country must abide by the rules of the country. The EULA of GW cannot supercede the rules so it must be modified to allow for bots. When ANet (or NCSoft) decided to sell the game in those countries, it had to modify its EULA so that it does not conflict with that countries laws. If the laws said that botting is to be legal or that a gaming company cannot interfere with the Gold for Cash trade, then the company cannot activly ban botters.

Sure okay i think i grasp what your trying to say a bit better now but consider this. I will be referring back to my Soccer World Cup example.
The game of Guildwars is run on Servers that ArenaNet/Nc Soft own and Govern. As with the World Cup, players from all over the world come together, unite to play against each other and have the same common goal in mind: to win.
Arena Net/ Nc Soft can be placed in the same category as the Federation Internationale de Football Association otherwise known as Fifa. When the players from all over the world come together, unite to play against each other and win the soccer world cup trophy, the game they play must adhere to the governing body of the game, aka FIFA. If they do not adhere to the rules they are banned. IT does not matter which country the world cup is held in, this year it is Germany, previously it has been held in France, Italy etc etc etc, and each ofthese countries have their own rules and regulations. Fifa is still the world governing body of the game of soccer (football in european countries) and everyone must abide by their rules or be banned no matter where you are in the world.
ArenaNet are in the same position as Fifa, as it is THEIR game and they are the sole governing body.
As i said before, the servers are owned and operated by ArenaNet, therefore these players from China, Japan, Korea or whereever are using ArenaNets property. If you are using someones property then you MUST abide by their rules or face the consequences.
The law of the country does not matter, as it does not matter in the world cup.
that is my position i take on this, you are using someone else property you must abide by their rules. simple????

If what yoru saying is true, it would be like saying to Fifa when the world cup was held in South Korea last time that
sure you can stage the world cup here but you ahve to follow South Korean Law regarding soccer not FIfas rules
Im not to sure that this happens, but i dont know maybe your right.

All I got out of this was that soccer is actually rootic players, because being a person who plays soccer myself have realized it is impossible to be as good as they are and that they cant be human.

I dont think the bots are where the actual problem lyes , its the people who buy gold online that create them. And besides if we rid the world of bots who would Black Pheonix have to talk to?

HERE is an interesting source of information about an MMOs economy and whatnot. It lists several cases in other countries and in this one arising from virtual crimes and just how much someone can make in the Gold for Cash trade (not going to spoil the surprise)

i may have missed it but does he talk about the illegality or legality of the business and the software developes reaction to it?
anywhoo im going to retire next week by selling GuildWars gold and World of Warcraft gold!!!!!!!!!
editers note: Incase anybody is wondering, the above sentence is completely and utterly 100% untrue and is a joke and the author does not condone this practice in anyway at all and infact will hate anybody that does it!!!. Like i said if you buy or sell Guildwars gold or WoW gold you will die of Sonic diarhhrea!!!! sounds painful :P but be my guest. =)

Nope i'm compiling a list of that right now but that above piece is just something interesting for people to read and it does talk about the legality of scamming and botting but not about countries' reactions to them.
Edit: Actually after doing some research, neither NCSoft nor ANet control GW in china.. it's run by a company called The9.

any idea what percentage of those Mo/W's were bots and how many were just super bored players? i do elona sometimes when i've got nothing else to do... not recently because of my current obsession with factions :D
Droks international near Talus Chute is much the same, they follow a very similar pattern.
