actually, is not cause to rune farming, is just that anet have changed the drop rates of runes (absoprtion and vigor) and rare items to drop more often. this is so that people that are new to gw (owners of fractions only), will have a chance to get some of these items, otherwise they wouldn't be able to afford them.

i doubt the price of absorption runes will go up much, unless anet change the drop rate again. the reason why superior vigor has gone up is cause they can be use by all classes. so whenever new and better armours are introduced, people will craft them and purchase these runes.

Yeah, it wouldn't be a good idea to stock up on Sup Absorbs. There's a small chance that it will go up a little. And that little profit you could make isn't worth it.
Sup Absorb will never hit the high prices it was before. Just look at the facts.
-Anet increased the drop rate of Sup Absorbtion by alot.
-The prices went DOWN during the biggest armor boom since GW came out. Usually the price would rise, but instead they fell.
-Within a week, they went from 100k to 10k. I think that is a pretty fast fall, one that Sup Absorbs won't recover from.
-And did you notice? Superior Absorbtion almost never dropped off the Rune Trader's List. Despite so many people buying new warrior's armor.

very true
There are a lot of factors that need to be considered
For all we know one day somewhere in the far future they may change the drop rate again.
I'm gonna wait :) i'm not planning on quitting GW anytime soon

I've got 3 different Superior Runes for different classes, and none are worth more than 2k. I've even got a couple Major Runes that the Rune Trader won't even buy. That right there tells me something's a little too askew with the game economy.

A million or so new characters all buying one can do that. Fortunately, I managed to get one new major vigor before the price jumped, and yesterday got one from a drop for my new Necro...
But yeah. Absorbtion runes have dropped in price dramatically, but most of the other runes haven't changed much at all. Maybe ANet should just increase the drop rate of rune-bearing armor in general if they REALLY want to decrease rune prices.

I hate what has happened to the prices of runes. They used to be a nice source of quick cash that didn't require a lot of time spent in trade.
Now they are all basically worthless.
I guess what bothers me most is that just a couple months ago there was a supposed "glitch" at the merchants which supposedly caused them to sell stuff for less than the supposed value.
At that time I was buying Superior Absorptions for 2.5k each. I had a mess of them.
Guild wars decided to shut the servers down and do a rollback under the pretense of "protecting the value of the players items".
Now Superior Absorprion is going for 1.7k and apparently that is all right with them. The release of factions is the greatest demonstration of them expressly NOT protecting the value of my items yet seen.

That incident you mention was a glitch, it shouldn't have happened. The issue with the rollback was a great solution. Because the price of Superior Absorptions would go back up, they knew the only people who would buy them would only resell them for profit.
That would have temporarly destablized the economy and alot of people would have gotten rich off a glitch. Remember that EULA you signed? You agreed that you would not take unfair advantage of glitches. Unfair means filling your inventory with them.
There is no way you can compare that glitch to what happened during Factions. That was an intentional fix to the overpriced runes. Superior Absorptions should never have reached those prices. Now they are stablized and affordable. Anet's not protecting your values, but they sure are protecting the other 50% of GW players who couldn't have afforded it otherwise.

I personally can't believe sup absorbs were so much in the first place. You could get a major absorb for like 2k when superior was 100k, and there is only one damage difference. Kind of ridiculous. I think it has stabilized now to a much more reasonable price. I mean, -3 damage is not all that much, definately wasn't worth 100k.

Ok no doubt there is a huge difference between the glitch that caused the rollback, and the debastation that the release of Factions caused to the values of Tyrian items, particularly those that were for warriors.
One was intended and one was not.
To call buying stuff from a merchant at any time an exploit is completely unfair. I know Gaille Grey did it. I am not saying it is something you made up or anything, but it was something that was legitimately happening and if it had been allowed to run its course, the result would NOT have been a ton of rich people. It would have been an economy similar to that which we have now.
That is what I was saying. Think about it.
Also, I am very rich in game, I am not ashamed of that. But I will say that it is the rich people whom suffer the brunt of all economic hardship. Why shouldn't people who play more often have more than those who play for 2 hours a week?
I know the GW economy is a serious point of contention to pretty much everyone. I also know that there are easy ways to stabilize and control the economy without destroying the values of items tyhat were earned over the course of many hours of play.
That clearly is not in the GW devvelopers goals tho. They have chosen instead to make the economy more accessible to newer players, which is fine I suppose. Honestly it doesn;t affest me. I can buy whatever i want without hesitation or quibbling.
But you gotta call a rose a rose and a toilet a toilet.
Also, when talking about Superior Absorption on it's face, I really thought it was nice that the top echelon of that particular rune was costly enough to prevent everyone and thier sister from having one. Getting my first superior absorption (I wasn't always rich) was a rite of passage for my warrior. It was just a tiny little extra boost that I had earned by playing long enuff and well enuff to have it.
Now anyone can buy one after 10 minutes of play, why even sell Major or Minor ?
Anyways, those ar my thoughts.

IMHO, Sup Absorb is well worth it, especially for my W/Mo because he takes a lot of damage running, tanking, soloing, etc. throughout everyday of play. The -1 damage may not seem like that much, but in the course of my GW careers, there have been various times where my health drops to the single digits, but I'm still able to make it, and I attribute this, partially, to the Sup Absorb rune. All of the -1 really stacks up, but that is just my 2 cents.
Smoked all my sigs :-(
