| Set me straight on MMO Radio |
|
|

When I first heard about Paragon Radio, I thought that it was a brilliant idea. A virtual city having its own radio station was genius. Like any city we live in (or visit), we can turn into a radio station to turn into and get local news, interest stories and music.
Paragon Radio is now MMO Radio - I guess to reach a broader range of listeners. I understand this move, more listeners means more support, more advertising revenues, etc. But as your FAQ states:
| QUOTE | What are your aims?
We aim to create a Radio Station to entertain and inform the population of each and every City of Heroes Server.
What is Paragon Radio?
Paragon Radio is a group of people who all love the game City of Heroes. The group has banded together from all walks of life to run an entertaining medium for all the other players of the game. |
So forgive me, I dont want to sound negative, but why cant the EQ players have their own separate audio stream. Like a separate radio station for a separate city.
I mean all the content, all the DJ's, all the events, everything about MMO Radio is for City Of Heroes and Paragon City.
I admit, I played EQ since 99 and quit for probably the same reason that everyone else does. It was time for change and wanted something different and new, hence CoH. But now, EQ is haunting me. Its followed me to the streets of Paragon City. Why? Why? Why?

If someone in EQ wants to start their own radio station. Work it, broadcast from it and pay for it all for EQ, no one is going to to stop them. MMO radio only as one stream. Its the same stream for everyone.

Like you said, they want to reach a broader range of listeners... Like how they have SWG shows too.
I guess you always have the option to change the channel, but even if they aren't in CoH you can still listen in to the music, etc.

You only live once, so take hold of the chance.
Don't end up like others, the same song and dance.

Im just curious as to the reasons there cant exist 2 audio streams, no more no less. Wether the reason is financial, technical, or legal....Im just curious as to why not create separate feeds for separate listeners.
Whats involved with setting up second audio stream? Can it even be done? There has to be some reason why not to attempt to separate gaming-radio content is it (a)technologicaly impossible or too difficult, (b)finnancially difficult or expensive ( c)legally difficult or impossible, conficlit of interest perhaps, or (d) a little of each.
I dont know, just lookin for some insight...

It's a little bit of all of the above to be honest.
The reason we chenged to MMORadio was because we saw this as an opportunity to do this for every game... not just City of Heroes. We do have staff that play EQ, SWG, AC, AC2, DAoC, AO and virtually every other big name and not so big name game that there is... and we are working on expanding the content to include a lot more of these (and new games). While we would love to create a radio station for each game we play, the money and manpower are just not there. So as it stands, we are only doing MMORadio... but let's just say that may not be the case forever.

Just a word of warning, the music in WoW can be really really nice. There's a place I stumbled upon by accident, beautiful, and then the music kicked in. It was simply amaaaaazing. Like walking into the Temple of Exar Kun, at night with the lights off, and the volume up. But better.
If you have MMORadio on, you'll miss it.

Yeah, I know, the music is amazing .. the best I've heard in a MMO yet!
But we'll have parties, where people can gather and not move around all the time. :) And some people wont mind not hearing ingame-music, spesially if they've heard it all before.
So it'll work out.
