I just deleted my ranger character who had my ce minipet and a perfect crenellated sword on him, and play nc can't restore my character, so im going to be taking a break from guild wars, or possibly quitting. Yea its just a game but it really ticks me off because i had no storage space for the ce mini or for the sword, so i had to leave them on that character, and that sword was how i was going to get back what it cost me to buy the ce minipet.

I wouldnt worry about it too much. It's just a bit of gold.. Gold doesnt make the character or your abilities to play the game. If you lost a couple hundred k then just shrug it off and explore the non-farming aspects of PvE, practice PvP to become even better...try challenging yourself in PvE by handicapping your character and still beating the missions (For example, i practiced monking by solo-monking THK) to become an even better player. The game doesnt stop when you stop farming, it starts when you stop farming.

I dont put crap in my storage in the first place, my storage has ectos, shards, black dyes, other perfect weapons, tons of materials, etc.

Yea im mad about the gold, but i dont farm on my ranger all that stuff on him was stuff that i got by beating factions, including the ce mini which i got the money from by beating factions, the sword was a drop, etc.

ever heard of trusting a guildmember to hold those 2 items till you made a new character?
GW clearly asks if you are sure to delete a character and even makes you type the name of the characteryou want to see deleted..
I don't see no problem here towards arenanet at all...
Or I'm missing out on something here...

I know it asks me, but im obviously not thinking straight because ive been sick since monday and hopped up on meds, but i cant really blame something else for my problems. I just clicked on the picture of the ranger that looked like my pvp ranger and typed in his name, seemed like a no brainer to me. I remake and delete pvp chars constantly so i click their pic, copy their name into the box, its second nature to me

Then again i could see how this is a big loss.. i mean if anything happened to my monk character i'd be really upset since she's my best and favorite character and i spent months getting her to the perfected state she is in now.

Well, let's get one thing clear here.
It is ofcourse a mistake Sunrunner made himself and ANet is not to blame for anything related to this.
That said, it's a pity that you lost this due to such an annoying mistake but personally it would never be reason for me to quit the game.
So, you lost some items, and with it their value which in the end just equals a lot of gold really.
However, playing the game and enjoying the game is much more than having money or even these sort of items.
I think quitting is an overreaction, but that's just my opinion, formed by the fact that myself I would react differently.
Ofcourse though, if that feels like the best thing to do for you at this point then no one's stopping you.
It's better to feel good quitting than to keep playing in a bad mood.
If you do quit I wish you luck in whatever you're going to do next and perhaps in a while you're view on the matter will change and allow you to start playing GW once again with a good feeling about it.

Most i ever had was 50k and i considered myself to be filthy rich with that kind of gold....Right now i have 30k and i still consider myself to be rich...

hey man, i accidentaly deleted my 55 monk twice, and thats when the runes were very expensive
both times my monk had 15k armor dyed black and many gold items on him
ya it sucks, but you can always remake the character

grrr it shouldnt have been deleted, i had 2 spaces in my name, but guess what that doesnt matter when deleting chars, try it if your characters name "A B C" you can type in "A B C", with any amounts of spaces in between, and it will still be deleted, if that didnt happen i would still have my ranger

You deleted the char, all on your own. 1st you have to chose the char to delete then you have to type the name of the char. The fact that you didn't place the 2 items somewhere else before deleting it, is i'm sorry to say (your own fault). Anet should in no way give you your char back, for something you did all by your self.
Sorry if that is harsh, but please (You had to type the name, not Anet) Also as for storage, while it can be frustrating moving things around there is tons of room.

I dont understand what you were trying to do, and why you would even delete a character you knew had great items on. But what I do have to say about this is, you rage quiting has lowered your maturity level below that of my 2 year old niece. Shizzle happens, its life, get over it and move on.

WTF it angers me that people that are in the AMP guild and represent this site would be so unsympathetic towards someone using their very site to express a disappointment and share that experience with others.

Anyways I think ANET SHOULD allow you to undelete chars, its NOT "just a game" to them this is how they make a living, without happy players they lose money. They should implement 1 of 2 things
1) A grace period for undeleting a char. Maybe a day, maybe a week, but something. They dont want to crowd up their servers with a bunch of deleted chars just sitting in there, but they should allow some sort of grace period.
2) A very simple option on the characters inventory screen (Kind of like the "Hide" capes and helms option) that is a checkbox that says "DONT ALLOW DELETION OF THIS CHAR" this should ALWAYS be checked by default, this way you have to log into GW, go into your inventory and uncheck the box before you can delete that char.
Anyways to the OP I am sorry about your loss, it is freetime down the toilet (and I dont know about you but my freetime is very precious to me and its not a game what I do in my freetime) and that makes me angry.
To the people that are giving you a hard time, this forum is better than many other forums on GW because its a group of people that are actually discussing things instead of flaming the minute they see an opportunity, if I wanted to read a bunch of flames and trolls I would go to a different forum, please keep that garbage off this website. Dont post things that dont help your fellow readers.

I see no-one from [AMP] flaming here, if you are refering to Travis, he is in [GGS].
But nethertheless I agree, please don't flame, if what you are going to say isn't helpful or intellegent or sensible, don't say it at all, it doesn't help anyone.
@ OP, understandably you are a bit *kittened* off, but there must have been some concious (sp?) thought going on when you deleted your character, and for that you cant blame anyone but yourself.
Some MMO's do employ a grace period for character deletion (EvE online is 1 that I know of), but Guild Wars AFAIK does not.
If you want to take a break from GW, that is your decision, but please dont leave the game all together, because that would mean leaving our community =(
Take a break, and then start your Ranger fresh... it sucks, but *kitten* happens :)

I would never leave guild wars, if losing my character bothered me this much im obviously too addicted to ever leave. I think im just going back into my pvp phase for a while.

If your referring to travis then I believe he is in fact a GGS member, not AMP and therefore not an Official rep' of this site (in fact the only official reps are staff and you can tell us by the green lettering under our avatars), but having said that anyone who uses the site is a representative of this site - we can only be as good or as bad as our manners allow.
I would hope that there are more like me who feel sunrunners pain over this and show the guy some sympathy, he admitted he was partly to blame and others have come back with some ideas to ensure the deletion process is harder. I know 95% of us have made mistakes in game whether deleting a character with valuable items or selling rare items to the merchant for 200gp knowing they could be worth 20k on the open market and I know the last thing I would want to see is 'yeah but you should have.....'.
Sunrunner dont quit the game! come back when the pain of your loss is less harsh and don't leave the site your a good and valued member. We are in the same guild so shout me in guild chat and we can go off either to farm to help you replace your lost stuff or just go do some random killin' to work it out your system.

Nevertheless, I do believe any members of AMP should always behave in a proper manner towards the public aswell. :-)
Ofcourse though, as far as I can see everyone does generally... which is good.

i see that expressing your feelings that are not the same as the guys with the member logos is wrong. i feel that he should not post that he is going to quit because he made the same mistake that all of us have. you are a vet of this board act like it. i got flamed the other day for spelling errors and no one came to my defence wha, wha, wha. if you want a pat on the back go to the local bar to cry in beer, and do not flame the other guy for his opinion this is still america i think.
