Well I currently play Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2: Special Forces and I absolutely love them, the graphics are nice, and the gameplay is awesome, it really feels like an online war and I love it, never-ever has more fun with an online war game.
Anyway EA are releasing Battlefield 2142 in Autumn (fall for you americans) this year, and I was wondering if anyone will get it? It looks quite awesome: mechwalkers, futuristic hover thingys, laser guns, a very halo-esque theme. I think it looks great.

i thinks it is a bad idea to make battlefield with so modern weapons and things like that. i better like BF 2 and Vietnam. now they are making a BF like Quake :( .

imo it wouldnt be the same as BF if it was futuristic with mechs and stuff, i loved Bf1942, and Bf2 because of the war theme and how realistic it is. but with mechwalkers and other futuristic type vehicles it wouldnt be very realistic, alot more fiction.
But ofcourse it could still be a brilliant game and i might get it, although that would mean not playing GW as much >.<
It could work brilliantly or it could ruin Bf for me.
Lets hope for the best.

Ok I'll break it down for ya.
Battlefield is basically a map (vary in size and locations) and 2 opposing armies are put into the map, all the players are human. The map sizes range between 8 vs 8, to 32vs32.
Carnage is the only way to describe it, players can go on foot, fly helicopters, fighter jets, drive tanks, jeeps, boats, APC's, dune buggys. It's awesome.
The game supports VolP in-game chat with Microphone headsets. Teams can be spit into separate groups called squads, these guys share a chat channel, and can see tactics played out on the map by the squad leader; fighting in a squad is generally the best way to go.
The game has many different classes of soldiers:
Support: Equipped with heavy weapons, and the ability to resupply allies with ammo.
Medic: Rez people who are dead but haven't repawned yet, heal people, and armed with a light machine gun.
Engineer: Fix Vehicles, armed with land mines and shotguns.
Special forces: Armed with highly accurate guns and C4 remote explosives.
Assault: your run of the mill footsoldier, great guns, and smoke grenades.
Sniper: Self explanatory, also armed with claymore mines
I cant remember if there is anymore, I always forget one.
The game employs a flag control system, each team battle for control of certain points, once controlled they can respawn at that point, the more flags your team has, the faster your score rises.
Another big role on the field is the commander guy, he can spawn artillery barrages at positions and other useful tools.
The game employs a persistant ranking system, which upgrades your rank on a global scale for each point you gain in every rank, as you rank-up you gain new weapons for the classes of your choice
Ummm what more can I say, it's awesome, obviously I have been describing Battlefield 2, which is set in the not so distant future, it is mostly set in the middle-east and china.

EDIT: Mwhahah I forget one of the best classes: Anti-Tank: Self explanatory- Big rocket launcher.

You are missing the Anti-Tank guy, carries around those guided missles for killing whatever you feel like. Its a nice class as you get a couple nice SMGs to choose from. I play under [DP]CaptainBobby, hit me up on GW and we can take a break and frag it up in Karkand.

My FPS name is 'LU4sTrooper' =D, my xfire name is the same.
BTW I absolutely OWN as a helicopter pilot (Black-Hawk).
-EDIT: Yup added Anti-Tank in mate.
My favourite map is Mashtuur city, love getting in the Helicopter on that one, I like Karkand as well though =)

I am always anti tank, and try to take the attack chopper as i almost never get shot down. If i do get shot down and manage to escape onto the ground, I will hide until re-enforcements arrive and use my anti tank rockets to take out passing tanks and jeeps. I only play on east coast US servers as I get a nice ping of 30. Euro servers give me TERRIBLE lag and a ping of over 170.

It's as cool as it sounds trust me =D
Us guys should form a squad one night and hit-up a server. i cant for the next couple of weeks as i'm really busy with college stuff (final year of college and all) but after that i'm getting my new rig: 7900GT, AMD X2 4400+, 2 gig RAM w00t, so then we can rock =D

I was already looking to get BF2, late comer to it. But this is sweet!
Anyone know where I can get BF2 for far less than the $50 in stores. The game has been out for sometime now, already has an expansion pack and it is still full price!
Oh ya and I am in the states...

That's quite strange, in the UK it sells for like £15 now (about 20-30 bucks), try looking around on the internet.
