City of Heroes

According to Statesman's post on the official forums today, the December issue of Computer Gaming World Magazine's blurb on upcoming Skills for CoH are "100% accurate". He said they didn't want to rush them because they were more involved than the developers thought they would be, so skills are set for "a future expansion".

The skill trees are listed as: Detective, Communication, Scholarship and Science.

You can read his post and reader comments here. http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=general&Number=1552102&bodyprev=#Post1552102

The CGW Quote: "Skills are City of Heroes' answer to the ubiquitous MMO crafting system - except they're totally different. Characters will be able to specialize in one of four different skill trees: Detective, Science, Communication, and Scholarship. They can further specialize in various areas of expertise, such as Forensics or Security for the Detective tree. Skills are level-independent and wholly optional; your character will be able to interact with myriad objects during the game, at which point he, (Ed. note: or she ), can attempt a series of skill checks. Success brings new objectives or perhaps some extra experiance. For example, succeeding at a Security check in a bomb infested building might reveal the explosives on the mission map."

Skills are learned and improved by studying at universities throughout Paragon City. You'll earn temporary, expendable skill boosts during missions; these are somewhat similar to inspirations but can also be converted into wisdom, which is used to add permanent skill boosts at the aformentioned universities. As with enhancements, you'll find generic skill improvements as well as stronger, more focused upgrades alon the lines of dual- and single- origin enhancements. The only skill you'll need now, though, is the patience to hold out for all this good stuff.

Everquest II

Legendary british actor Christopher Lee voices the evil Freeport Overlord, Lucan D'Lere, the 1000-year old overlord of the evil city of Freeport. Lee's vocal contribution will encompass over four hours of dialog.

Heather Graham has appeared in over 40 films, including Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, From Hell and Boogie Nights. She will provide the voice for Antonia Bayle, the Queen of Qeynos and leader of the forces of good in EverQuest II. Graham's character will deliver about 300 lines of dialog in the project.

As a whole, EverQuest II will feature over 70,000 lines of dialog spread across more than 1,700 voice actors. The two actors will help voice the more than 130 hours of spoken dialog in the title.

Final Fantasy XI

For those of you in the San Francisco area, this was posted on the official site.

"To celebrate FINAL FANTASY XI's enormously successful first year in North America, we're throwing a special anniversary party on Saturday, October 30 in San Francisco! Scheduled events include a reception, FINAL FANTASY Music Mix dance party, costume contest, giveaways, raffles, online events, and more!"

Star Wars Galaxies

SOE introduced two new ships that have never been seen before, ships that LucasArts will be adding to the Star Wars canon. The TIE Oppressor is a new gunship for the Empire, adding bigger guns to a modified TIE Fighter model. The next ship is the VT49 Decimator, the Empire's equivalent of the Millennium Falcon.

Other notes regarding JTL include: The nebula in Dathomir even fires off bolts of lighting from time to time that can really damage your ship. Ship models destruct dynamically so now two disintegrations will look the same. For the sake of good gameplay, the team won't model crashes with other players, small ships or tiny asteroids. The collisions for Star Destroyers or big transport ships are still being tuned. A handy radar at the bottom of the screen shows the threats and friendlies in your area.

With Jump to Lightspeed goes Lightspeed, all players will have access to 25 new emotes and 54 of the original emotes have added animations or improved animations based on ideas from the community. /airguitar , /cuckoo , /dies , /flipcoin , /hot , cheek , /model , /payup , /rude , /lives

Climax confirms rumours that the cancelled MMORPG will actually see the light of day
