I've thought for some time now that Cold Iron weapons were cosmetic, much like the Byeshk weapons. I've recently been informed that Fire Reavers are vulnerable to Cold Iron weapons.
Cold Iron is defined as: "This iron mined deep underground, known for its effectiveness against fey creatures is forged at a lower temperature to preserve its delicate properties."
Are Fire Reavers fey creatures? If so, then logically Flesh Renders and Ice Flensers should be as well?
Has anyone tried testing this?
I guess I could buy a Cold Iron weapon and try it myself...

Wait a minute...byeshk works on what? Byeshk weapons are supposed to bypass the damage reduction of the Daelkyr, the lords of Xoriat, the Realm of Madness.

Yes well, bysheck works on the ghostly skeletons too, so who knows now. I read the numbers, and a yellow number is reduced and a red is not. Very simple. I will test more to verify.

Cold Iron would impact Fey and Magical creatures - of which there are currently no Fey in the game & only one Magical Beast - the Winter Wolf. The Wolf is found in a few quests like the Vamipre one.
Worgs *may* be classified as Magical Beasts - but I've not checked to find out for sure.

I'm wondering how many of the other special weapons are a bit off?

Well supposed, posted by one of the devs, cold iron + good weapon can bypass the damage immunity of powerful flesh renders. Which means flesh renders on elite, not sure about hard.
Here is a link of the post, you have to scroll down and see Graal's post.

I've never had a cold iron weapon with good combination so I can't tell you if its working. I know on elite, the flesh render has damage reduction even with holy/good weapons.

The quickest test I found was Elite on Caverns of Korromar.
The first flesh render by the sky chest as we call it. On hard and normal with a holy weapon no damage reduction. On Elite damage reduction applied to the weapon damage, I.E retribution in my case. So, I switched to a +2 holy cold iron scimitar. NO DR, as a matter of fact I solo'd the CR 19 iirc Flesh Render on Elite with my freshly minted 10 paladin. I then had a 10 fighter in my guild with no help from me or anyone else try and no dice, <3 paladins. I will confirm it with various weapons on different settings when I get more time.

More testing...
Fire Reavers, and its cousins also have the same DR on elite. You need both cold iron + good to bypass the damage reduction of these monsters on elite. Otherwise the damage from the weapon unless a critical hit is scored is negated. I am trying to work the numbers but it looks to be DR 10/cold iron and good.
To compound the issue is that Fire reavers have the known no d20 rolls at times, which makes it rather hard to melee them down when they are a CR 21 critter.
