travel powers

ok, im having a hard time deciding if i want flying or not.
i have super jump already, and omg....its so freaking fun and somehow never gets old for me. now heres the problem, i think i might want fly...beacause i have that goldbrick jetpack thingy. and its fun also.

so my question is would getting the fly powerpool be a waste? i have leaping and fitness already and if i got flight i still dont know what other powerpool i'd get (i know i wont get super speed). i was thinking i could get hover, air superiority, and group fly.( or take out air superiority and get Fly). i dont really care about traveling with my pets so i guess i'd leave out group fly, but i'd find it very funny to group fly up really high and then drop them... >.>

i just think its kinda silly to super jump and fly, lol.
so yeah... >.> lol

RE: travel powers

There is probably no good reason to get both other than you want both. Air superiority is a good attack but i dont think you would see much advantage to fly. So really if you want fly get it but if you are concerned with it helping you may want to pass. Upon further thought...I have seen MMs use hover to help stay out of the line of fire and to gain a commanding view of the battlefield so there may be some value there.

RE: travel powers

Just remember, to fly is an option...lol. I have fly on just about every toon I have made. I have SJ on my Tank on CoH (only one not using fly). However, now, I'm leaning towards SS for quick, stealthy xp.

Now, if you just want to get somewhere safe, without being seen or attacked, fly is your choice. If you want to get to that mission that's 1.16 mi away but need to afk for a sec...then fly is for you. Set fly to auto and fly safely above the madness.

RE: travel powers

I've been wondering for a bit, whats the best travel power if your a mastermind?

I have teleport, because its handy when my dumb-assed zombies get stuck somewhere or decide to go rampaging on their own, but teleportation is a bit boring and its hard to get to know your way around when your 700yrds up in the air. Also messing up clicking an icon and your looking at a sudden painful stop as I hit the pavement. Lucky im dead or it would really hurt.

If I picked up superspeed, superjump or flying, would my zombies be left behind and have to make their way to me on foot, or do my horde get the power too? If not, theres a chance that they might walk into a bunch of goldbrickers and get their worm-ridden butts kicked.

When I use teleport, they seem to appear near to where I land (yes land, as I haven't finetuned my teleport skills yet *splat*). Would my zombies just pop out of the ground when I come to a stop or finish flying?

Well, generally when using Teleport as a travel power, some say that you may want to use hover with it, so you don't fall out of the air if you can't quite get the clicking down.

As for as the henchmen and travel powers, they will follow you around running through the streets (no, they do not get travel powers...they walk, run or whatever they do). Now, what is interesting about henchmen and travel powers, if you get too far away from them, they will be "moved" to your location. I'm not sure what the actual distance is for this to happen though, however, with TP, you will probably have this happen alot seeing TP is a pretty quick travel power.

Just think about while you are in a mission and you go up a vator, your henchmen just "reappear" in front of you...because you moved a good distance from them...same way with your travel power. Remember, until you reach that limit, they will run wild in the streets drawing aggro that will ultimately find you.

RE: travel powers

for teleport I found a neat program that helps me..

Hello folks. Before the thread gets purged in General Discussion and because I think it deserves it's own thread moreso than my new bind; I present the Ultimate Teleport Bind the Program. This is based on my New Teleport bind which can be found here. For those that don't know, the best new feature is that the targeting reticle always stays up while you are in teleport mode. I will give a more thorough low-down on what it can do.

Choose between normal, peacebringer, or warshade teleport types
Choose shift or toggle mode
Choose the keys you want bound
Choose how far you want the camera out while in teleport mode and normal mode
Choose the world detail settings for both teleport and normal mode
Choose whether to keep shadows on or off while teleporting
Choose what windows you want hidden or shown while teleporting
Choose the directory you want it installed to
Now has a reset in case something goes wrong
Makes you aware if your bind exceeds 256 characters in a line (Bind will not work if it does)
Allows you to copy the needed command to load the reset file and get started
Targeting reticle always shows up

If there are any questions, please let me know. Here is an image of the main window:

Main Window

Here is the actual program itself. Enjoy!

Super Jump Rocks! It eats very little endurance, and gets you there quicker then any other power. It is a blast to do as well.

Don’t mess with flight, it is an endurance hog. There is no reason for you to have it unless you want another attack, Air superiority.

As for MM’s I guess having flight with Group Flight would be a good combo. I have Super Speed with my MM, and if they get too far behind (like the Bishop says….Hummm….a new forum….”The Bishop says…”) they just appear. If they draw agro, just let then die and replace them…..that is what they are for anyway right?

I have to disagree with your comment on "don't mess with fly". At lower levels, (under 22) fly can be an endurance hog, but with 4 slots in fly, 1 EndRed, 3 Flight Speeds, it becomes extremely fast and uses very little endurance. Also, many builds out there include Stamina as a staple to the build, which counteracts Fly's endurance use.

In CoV, there are a LOT of areas that are extremely difficult to reach without a vertical movement power. Fly and Super Jump make these areas much easier to reach. Currently, my mastermind has Fly and my brute has Superspeed. I find it a LOT more annoying getting around with the Brute than I do the MM, especially when you start in a new zone that you're not used to.

RE: travel powers

When I made that statement I was referring to his toon that already has Super Jump. Why mess with Fly when you have a Travel Power already.

Also that is a lot of enhancement slots for flight that could be used for other things, like Killing or buffing. With Super Jump, I just use the one slot and it is just fine on all levels.

Super Speed can be annoying, I will agree.

RE: travel powers

In my case, since ED was put into effect (launch of CoV, I6 of CoH) I find myself with slots that I'm not sure what to do with, anyway. So the 4 slots in Fly works out fine for me.

heh, i guess i'll stick with jumping and conserve my gold jetpack.thank for all the info. Flight is still tempting, but only for the fun factor (for me at least).

RE: travel powers

didnt look at the bind program, but i've always just bound it to the "T" key since i can keep my fingers on the direction keys and hit it, and of course it's easy to remember. Just hit "t" and click.

You could always respec out Jump and respec in Flight at some later time. As I understand it, we'll be getting a free Respec with I7.
