why was i a bad stalker?

i now have a mastermind but before i was i made like 10 different stalkers, always starting over because i died more than anyone should have (on Villainous mode). first i was claws/regen. then nina/ninja. i got to about lvl 12 with it, but i just kept dieing. my play style in solo was do a sneak attack and then continue to fight. this was no problem until around lvl 10 where i would literally be as powerful as a wet noodle without a bunch of inspirations.

i found myself dieing countless time by one, thats right, one cobra. i think it was the fact that i kept getting hit too often, and i cant even begin to tell you how many times i miss with all my attacks. if i thought really really hard, i could probably count how many times i actually hit something.

even after all that, i decided to just team and figured stalkers werent the best solo AT. i still died. and after seeing other stalkers in groups not dieing as much as me, i decided to start over once more with a MA/ninja. it looked cool, but i had the same problems, and just made a MM and have only died 2 times and im lvl 22 now. i tried hit and run, but seems kinda pointless when soloing since the mobs always find me even when im hidden after attacking them unless i run really far away which would take a long time.

so am i missing something? i used acc enhancements but noticed no difference. maybe i am jinxxed, lol

For a start your nto a brute, you have no where near as good life or power (except from assassins). You could try three things in my eyes:

1) TEAM!!! If you can't go solo get a team to help you
2) Dont contuinue to fight after using assassins, run away become hidden wait for them to chase you and then hit them from your hide and keep repeating this process. I have complete a few missions now with this tactic. I even managed to complete one of those missions without being hit once!
3) Stock up on enhancements, can be expencive but it normally helps. I myself hardly ever use them (except awakes and brake frees) and sometimes struggle because of it.

Above all its also about your playing style and practise, you just have to either find something else that clicks or keep trying untill it clicks :)

IMHO, you didn't stick the Stalker out long enough. I have a Claw/Ninjitsu stalker and a MA/Ninjitsu Stalker and they both rock. The object of a Stalker is not to fight toe to toe with a mob, unless, you have some really good secondary skills. Ninjitsu offers you that. Caltrops, Smoke Screen, Blinding Powder, Heal, mez protection, and the last power in the set, Retsu, is like MoG, but a little better.

You just need to get caltrops and some supporting cast of secondary powers to help your cause. Take a look at this guide. It should give you an idea of when the Stalker, with Ninjitsu will come into their own.

I've always been a fan of super reflexes. Makes you way harder to hit if you slot it out right. Also can be funny to watch foes constantly attack you and you dodging with ease. :D

This is true, however, IMO, the nature of the Stalker is not to be seen. That's why I like to play the Ninjitsu set. It helps you get lost in a crowd of people and provides somewhat of a crowd control feature in Caltrops.

This is true, staying hidden is a must but SR really holds its own when your running and trying to hide. If your hit you lose your hide, with SR its so less likly and you can use assassin's more.

Regeneration rocks for jsut staying alive, and is mondo helpful in PvP. Even though it is somewhat bland...

i have the same problem. AS is awesome (if you can get it to hit) and that was my problem. I'd miss that inital attack and i was a goner after that. if you can take that boss out first then its rather easy to take on 2-3 minions. 1 on 1 with a boss without the AS then your gonna lose. I aslo stopped playing my stalker until a fellow member showed me how good they really can be. I started to work him to my weekly rotation now.

I haven't really took the time to really get a feel of what a stalker is all about(because of the fact that the playing style doesn't quite meet my personel playing needs like dominators do), but it is obvious that once you get it rolling, it can do wonders, especially in PvP.

If I were to make a stalker, based on reading the second powersets throughoutly, i'd go with a combination of Ninja Blade(the +Acc is nice and my obsession with swords overwelms me) and Ninjitsu. I really don't base my powersets on which one is best, I usualy just pick the ones that go along with my characters personality and abilities:P

Ninjetsu is very popular but i am yet to sample it. So far ive been with regen SR and now dark armor.

Either way stalkers are quite tactic based and you need to get these things right to become a good stalker

Well I'm regeneration and I personally really like it. Since I'm quite a n00b myself I have to heal myself, and it helps to have powers like Integration/Fast Healing, it will certainly make the difference between life and death.

For everyone else who is dying a lot: try to get your character up the level where you can get the Health power from the Fitness pool, it helps a lot.

Hit and run is a great strategy. Hitting a boss, or a minion and running away until they don't follow you anymore. Repeat this over and over and over and you'll be able to bring down even the toughest of bosses!!

I'm at the point now where I can stand in the middle of a even level mob of 5-6 and take them all down without running away (gotta love caltrops, blinding powder and smoke screen). I can even take out a +2 boss solo without running away (can't hit what you can't see...lol). I've worked out my Claw/Ninjitsu stalker to the point where I really don't face plant much anymore (AV/Heros/some EBs dont count).

Although they said they gave the Claws some love with I7, I'm not noticing a very big difference in love, but it's enough to make a difference though. Still have issues with the Longbow EB Balista (darned resistance to Lethal damage). I can take down Citadel (normally an AV) as an EB, but the Balista I can't... go figure.

Longbow are insanely overpowered. They have resistance to ALL damage types, I think, they MIGHT not have Psi resistance, but I haven't found anything they're vulnerable to. If anyone knows, PLEASE post it. The only ones that don't have that insane resistance are the Spec Ops guys, but of course, once they Stealth Up, it's a pain to hit them at all.

I only ever hit and run on bosses, and occasionally luitenents. Minions i just mop up with ease, most due to spine burst!

Mweh most mobs aren't a big problem for me either. I can one hit kill the strongest one (for example a Longbow Spec-Ops) and slowly work myself through the rest of the mob.
With Integration, Health, Stamina on I will not run out of Health/Endurance, and I can always heal if necessary. That's why I like the Regeneration so much :).
