I have seen less and less FF and more and more Emp. This does not aply to just trollers but def too. It used to be that FF's were like "IT!!" for trollers but i have literally been kicked from a team or 2 for haveng force fields and no heals as a lvl 35 Ill/FF troller.
What r your thoughts on this?

Well...It seems that people are more concerned with healing than defense lately. I'm sure that the issue stems from the fact that the majority of the Force Field powers have been nerfed repeatedly. I've always enjoyed having a bubbler on the team, but empaths are relatively necessary in the higher levels. Basically, that labels Force Field types as a great complement...Not necessarily an integral asset.

I think that people over-reacted to the FF nerfs and now don't play them as often because they are under the impression that they are no good. But I think they are still very nice. The indivudual bubbles give 14% added defense while the AoE bubble gives about another 9%, and that's before you add enhancements. That is significant given that an even-con minion IIRC has a 50% base chance to hit you.
And if you are a FF/Dark Defender? Mobs would be lucky to hit anything at all!

i cant believe you've been kicked from a team because of your build. i would NEVER EVER do that! i'm ashamed to say i play the same game as this inhuman mongrels! but on a more serious note, i think that most people dont realize the buffs they receive during combat except for the heals. only because you can actually see when you get healed with the green +### health you receive. i know i dont realize most of the buffs because i'm focusing on the boss of the mob, my health and stamina, teammates health to see if squishies need a quick rescue, and not to mention RL things like phone calls and my roomie talking to me. really the only way i know how i'm being buffed is by checking out the little powers under my status bars (and most of the time i dont know what any of them are!).
BUT YOU JUST KEEP GOING OUT THERE AND BE THE BEST BUBBLER THAT YOU CAN BE!

Hummm,
It is bogas that you were booted from teams for being a FF. As an Ill/Emp i've found it interesting that people who send me /Tells inquiring if I wish to join them, ask if I am Emp. I love FF myself, in fact I was on a mission the other day with a FF defender. Between the two of us, the party had to do some really stupid stuff to show any damage at all.

FF is an amazing powerset, the leader of our SG has made a FF def, and NO ONE CAN TOUCH US! hes great. He was the only Def on the team, all 23s or so, and we were fighting 27s. no one died, and that can be contributed solely to his bubbles.
in short, no build sux. if a build sux, im sure there is at least one person out there who could work it like no otha motha, and get to 20 within 10 hours of makin that toon.

i rebut! some builds do suck. not the power set combos, but the powers they choose from them. i played with an empath who only had one heal, the very first one along with clear mind. those were the only two primary powers he had! and we were level 17!!!!!! he also had 2 travel powers!! SJ and SS so tahts at least 2 more powers he could have had instead!
the build sucked, but the combo can't
