Handy new tip...Newspaper Missions...

I just added in a handy new tip about newspaper missions here: http://cityofvillains.gameamp.com/tip_libr...raries/1322.php

Bottom line, if you don't like the selections of newspaper missions they give you, zone out and back into the area and it will reset. It's handy. :)

Personally, CoT are a real bugger for me, so when all I can pick are CoT missions, I zone over to Warburg or Pocket D from St Martial and immediately zone back. Then all of my newspaper choices are different! WOO!

I never would have thought to do that in a million years. Another thing that I've found about Newspaper missions, though, is if it appears that the Brokers have no missions for you what so ever, I mean the entire screen says, try back later, we have nothing for you...You can zone and reset. I found this out today while playing. My Newspaper selections mysteriously vanished, so I zoned from St. Martial to Nerva and back, and poof, they were there again.

I kinda accidently figured it out. I had 3 kidnap missions and decided I was going to go to Warburg for some Longbow killings. Once I zoned to Warburg, I decided I wasn't in the mood for one of those annoyingly long kill all missions, so I zoned back figuring I had to do the kidnap mission sooner or later...when I went back into the newspaper, I had the option to Defeat Archon Assunta and his Guards...I was happy...Archon Assunta wasn't.

aye, this helps me get CoT missions hehe.. darn arcane SG.. any one else bored of only being able to select CoT or Council for newspapers.. after I hit 35 or so all I was able to select those 2 since all my contacts were done 8(.. lol Ive made over 200k in prestige from CoT newspapers post lvl 35 now thats alot of CoT killin 8)..

also if you can get no more contacts you dont have to do hte heist just say no thanks..

On the other hand, when you first do the newspaper missions to obtain a contact, make sure you take the heist. If you say 'no' at that point, you have to do all the newspaper missions again before you can get the contact. I found that out the hard way, I figured that since the Broker asked if I wanted the heist, it was totally optional. I was wrong... >.>

Ty for the tip. Often I've had only Tsoo missions on my MM, which is hell. Everything that makes the sorcerers annoying to fight (TP, Hurricane, etc) it increased 10 fold when you add idiot henchmen into the mix. They also share the NPC reaction to location powers, in this case caltrops, which makes things worse.

From 30-35, in St Martial, all you get are CoT, Council, Freaks and Skyraiders. Freaks and Skyraiders cap out at 35. So at 36, you no longer get them. At that point, you're limited to Council and CoT.

A way to use this to your advantage: At level 34/35, run with your reputation set at the max and ONLY take Skyraider missions. Skyraiders will cap out at L35, so the minions will all be Yellow and White to you, even on the highest difficulty, however your mission bonus will still be maxed out as if it were on the highest difficulty.

I hate Tsoo. Its not the sorcs its the caltrops. It is so damn annyoing trying 2 get past them. My minions run out then run back in.

i wish i knew about the sky raider tip before b/c i like newspaper missions:(

Hey, i'm new to the forums. Thanks for the help

Personally, I only do newspaper missions to get a new contact, so I pick "Steal x from x" or "Kidnap x from x". But when they are only kill ones, I just do as you said, and I get the steal missions!

My favorites are the "Defeat Bob and his guards" missions.

Steal missions are a second favorite.

I won't bother with Kidnap missions, it's too annoying. Basically it winds up being a "Defeat All" mission since the kidnapee won't follow you if you're stealthed.

Another update. Rogue Island Police max out at level 40 (in St Martial anyway), so those bank missions will get easier for the 38-40 block. Recommended that you take them.

something i found out a wee bit ago..

while you are looking at your missions selections from the newspaper close it before zoning.. lol It will randomly select one of the missions if you zone out with your newspaper open.. 8)..

That's a funky thing. I've had that happen once, but could never get it to duplicate.

Another addition to the "max level" thing.

Wailers max out at level 40. Although there aren't any newspaper missions for them, it might be handy for contact missions.
