Has anyone had the chance to go on the test server yet?
Anyone able to give me an idea of want happens? (I am inactive right now ARGH!!!)

I'll tell you one thing. At 11 pm PDT last night the test server would not let me on because I had the wrong version of the ap but it would also not download a new version either. I assumed it had something to do with today but didn't know.

I dont really play on the test server ever...
also, not that big of a PvPer... the one time i tried it, it was like four heroes in all of sirens call againt 15 or 20.
hopefully Recluse's victory will be more balanced.

I'd say that your best chance to try it out will be during this week's event. A large chunk of the CoX population will show up, so jump on when you can. I'll probably be running around as well.

I think one of the best things about this event is not so much that you get to try out Recluse's Victory. The best part, IMO, is that you get to test out all of those builds you've been thinking about, all the way to level 40! Heck, try em all out! Go crazy!

lol, thats exactly what ive done. ive re-made a lot of my low-level alts, and I'm seeing how fun they get. Its a great way to gauge which build you like best.

OK, I read the guide... WOW! that sounds like it will be a lot of fun.
Will I need City of Villains to be able to do it or can I run with just City of Heroes?

What was really going on was that they were in the process of wiping the server and loading in the cleaned verson but had forgotten to take it offline first. The updater was confused by the fact that the checksums would not match no matter what you did, yet there was no patch to download yet.
The new content is in place. You should be able to load now, though because you tried to load while they were making the change you might need to delete the invalid checksum. To do this, close your updater, go to your CoH Test folder and delete CohTest.checksum and restart the updater. It will take it a few minutes to generate a new checksum, but then CoH will load properly after that.

ok i'm trying to get into the training room for the first time to go see all this hooraah that is recluse's victory.
can you still play while the files are downloading? i really dont want to wait the 2 hours that it will take to download!

wow a quadruple post!! the guide is in the link in thejeni's post.
As for my experiance in Recluses Victory, it was great!!! It was very balanced in the few zones i tried. At last check there were 19 RV up and about 15 were full. I found 1 exploration badge by accident called..... The Last Stand. I had so much fun, I made a Blaster/Stalker. One thing that I did not like was that when one side won (control 6 of the 7 pillboxes, not have 100 deaths in 5 min) nothing happens, the zone resets. The best thing about this though was when one side started to beat up on the other the Freedom Phalanax or Recluse and crew would come and help. It was so amazing fighting against the likes of Statesman, Lord Recluse, Positron, Manticore, Synapse, Sister Psyche, Maco, Black Scorpion, Ghost Widow, and Sicciro. They are no chumps either. I couldn't even get near Positron with my stalker and statesman had me on the floor in two shots. Posi successfully held off about 15 villains for 10 minutes. For those who haven't been able to get on (Swiss, I think this is why you posted this) the zone also offers you the chance to take over turrets in the pillboxes and "Heavies" giant robots that are equal to lvl 54 Elite Bosses.

Unfortunately, the lag is so bad that I can't even teleport. I lost connection and when I tried to log back in, I timed out 4 times while trying to load the map.
If I do manage to get back in, I hope to find some of you on our global channel.

well I'm not a big PvP'er but it was kinda fun... I rolled up some low lvl characters and took them out for a run... they were nice to see what they're gonna be like... my latest troller is gonna be F.U.N. can't wait to get her lvl'd up now.
I also rolled up some villains I'd thought about playing... but when I'd logged in with them it was heavily balanced towards the hero side and I couldn't go 2 feet without getting murdalated. ;)
I'm looking forward to playing some during the day when it'll be slower... get a chance to rebuild that archery defender of mine... see if she's what I thought she'd be.
I think that there are so many stalkers in the zone right now it's hard to be fun... but hey just cause I don't like 'em doesn't mean that other people don't get the play them. :)
I'm not a Super Hero, but I play one on PC!

Kind of off topic but still on I think it would be a cool edition to the test server if they did allow us to get on and try out the different builds, enhancements, epic power pools to see if we like them.
but that is just my two cents worth

Geo Wizard: Lvl 50 Earth/Kin With Speed Boost and Stamina yay. Not to mention kick butt holds. Including Volcanic Gases, hehe. And now with his own moronic Animated Stone. And Transference!!! New and improved, 3 lvls in one day, adding to his arsenal Fulcrum Shift..oh yea. Can't wait to get some time under his belt now. I can now hurl Boulders....omfg no he didn't :) I look so pimp in my newest power...its brown and bumpy all over..can you guess?... Thats right is Stone Armor and it is kick butt. Fissure rocks my world! Fifty soon. Fifty on 12-10-2005 at 12:35am after 400hrs of hard labor Wanna throw a special shout out to Illusion Mastor, CBail, Mudpuppy, Jupiter Sweets, Dark Hollow, Lethal Fury, Pan, Majin Tank, Lotus of Death, and all the others i know I am forgetting for their help. And also to all the gameampers here at gameamp whom without I would never have made it.

I tried it a for a little bit so far...I wanted to see what a lvl40 PB was like...pretty cool, indeed!
There is a gameamp.com channel set up, and LordX and I started a Heroes of Gameamp SG, so for anyone playin on test, add the channel and ask for an invite!

I really enjoyed running around the zone last night, but I do have a few problems with the event so far.
1. After spending the ridiculous amount of time that it takes to level and enhance my hero, I ran into the zone and shouted, "Fire/Radiation Controller LFT." I waited for a second, but I was too excited to sit around for long. I dropped down the map and started checking out the pill boxes, main statue, etc. No team invites yet, so I repeated my original broadcast. Finally, I ran into another player calling for heroes to come help him take down a pillbox. I switched to local and told him that I'd love to help - just send me an invite. His response, "I'm just soloing right now." I spent 2 hours online clashing with the villains, and I never got invited to a team. Apparently, none of the heroes on my server (Recluse's # such and such) were actually forming teams. WTH?
2. Sooooo...I guess it sucks to be one of the only guys to jump on in the evening because everybody else was a freaking 50. I mean EVERYBODY. I was the only 40 that I saw the entire time. You can probably tell how frustrated I was from my first listed issue. I couldn't hurt the villains, the main baddies (Mako, Ghost, etc.) were one-shotting me, and the turrets could drop me in 2 to 3 blasts. If I could've gotten an invite and SK, I probably would've had a bit more fun.

i thought i read in that guide that everyone gets bumped up to 50. i saw all those 50s running around too and wondered the same thing myself. unfortunally i didnt see any AVs. and i lost connection twice.

Hmmm...If I was a 50, then I was a horrible 50 because everyone else was decimating me. I couldn't hit anything. I guess I'll have to check that out again today. My bust if I'm wrong.

I tried it our last night, built an Elec/Elec Brute to try and test him out. I wasn't really able to get a good feel for things, though, because it was so laggy and crowded. Any fights I got into were too chaotic for me to accomplish what I really wanted which was to see exactly how the Elec Brute fared. Also noticed I had a very difficult time building any kind of fury so not sure what that was about.

Yeah everyone gets bumped to a 50. I believe you can still level as well though to get more enhancements slots or powers, but it would of course take forever. Because I was getting XP last night. I believe I got 3/4 of a bub. Well I have taken two different types of trollers in there. My level 50 ice/bubbles Glasher and one that I made last night Earth/storm. Both are VERY squishy. The earth/storm troller I made, did better than my ice/bubbles. Storm and ice or storm and earth, would both be great combos. I haven't tried a fire troller yet. I have also found that my tank Flaming Rage does very well. It takes a lot of villains to take him down and he can hang pretty good against the turrets. The turrets can take down a troller or any squishy VERY fast. They are level 54 bosses. As far as not getting on a team, that is wierd. I was not in the zone for more than 30 seconds and got an invite. Whenever we lost one another would join very shortly after.
I also tried a stalker, not to hip on that. One, I'm just not into being a villain. I definantly like being a hero better. (more my style) I couldn't even hit the heroes with AS for some reason. I think it has a lot to do with the lag I experience on the test site though. By the time my strike goes off they are out of my range. lol But being on a team is the way to go. It is extremely hard to solo in there as a troller. I tried it when I was able to get one of the robots to fight for me. Man that was a blast. They do some massive damage. Robot and animated stone with the storm and earth debuffs going = tons of fun. I was really impressed with the earth/storm build. I have one on COH that is only a level 18. I can not wait now until I get him up in the levels. With what I was doing to the villains, I can only imagine how he will be in game.

Get ready for the long haul, bubba. My Earth/Storm didn't start to get fun until the late 20s. If you don't have a team, you should just log off. Otherwise, it'll take you an hour and a half to finish a solo mission. The build is fun later in the game, but you feel the pain during the grind.

No, you get to level to 40. You may get auto'd up to 50 but you only level to 40 for the start.
I had the same trouble I've heard here. Lag was incredible. Built a scrapper and scarred the sh... out of some of the others. Mostly I only enh'd with red and yellow so I could hit non tanks for like 20% of their health regularly. In the end it backfired on me because once they realized I was hitting that hard I was first to be ganged up on in every fight.
It's very cool looking even though I don't pvp that much and don't really like pvp. It was as I feared though, all of cov and anything related to it (say pocket d) lag like nobody's business to me and so there is little point in me trying to play it.

Yeah I know about the SLLLOOOWWWWWWW levling. It's pretty much like my Ice troller. When I can't find a team, I usually do just log him and go to another AT. But I have been able to solo some mishes (all low level). It does take a day and a 1/2 though. lol lol But I am definantly going to start playing him more. It was a lot of fun last night with the earth/storm troller.
Luckily I have some friends at that level that I team with him all the time. So it hasn't been to bad.

Y'know...I wasn't lagging much at all last night. Here's a tip. Instead of staying in the zone that you originally enter, level up your character, enhance, and then go back to the portal that you spawned from. When you click on it, you'll receive a list of all the available zones. I think I was in 9 of 11, so the population was considerably less.
