Yea, I recieved one as well. Pretty sure its inaccurate. At least I hope it is. Beta is nowhere near ready for release.

Never trust distributers. They always guess at when a game will be released because it hurts their sales to say, "here buy this game now...but we can't tell you when you'll get it". Every game retailer does that. I'll believe it when SOE announces it officially.

It took me by surprise to hear this really. Reading so much about the beta progress, it doesn't seem feasible for the game to ship in two weeks. The game would have to go Gold tomorrow for them to have enough time to press enough copies of the game to cover presell orders.

What gets me is the wording in the email however.
"...the publisher has set a new ship date..."

The publisher... hmmm. I would think that there would be legal reprecussions for a retailer making such a possibly false statement. I know there is plenty of legal action taken if a retailer sells a product before its official release date.

I wish SOE would at least release a statement stating this will NOT be the ship date instead of just locking threads about this on their forums. Their silence seems odd...

lol.. I think the quality of beta has dropped the past few days. Now I really hope this is false. A release now would severly damage the reputation of the game.

Are you referring to the login problems from the past few days? A recent post by Smedley addresses that issue and he swears they know exactly what's wrong and it will be fixed in a day or two. Apparently, they were fixing some other major issue with the login and that fix caused quite a few new bugs to come up. Oh how I so don't miss programming!

Login issues were partly it. Lag and random drops have also increased, for me at least, these past few days. Could be due in part to the increased # of beta accounts.

Not that I am in the beta (although if someone wants to give their access to me, I wouldn't complain ;-) ), but it is my experience with most beta stages that lag and connectivity is often quite rough. You have to remember, those issues are simply because they haven't released the game, and as such are typically running the game either on existing hardware, or intentionally minimal hardware to test the overall game mechanics. At this point, SOE already knows from experience what they will need to minimize lag and other issues associated with connectivity (although, things always seem to hit a SNAFU no matter how well you plan). I would expect that they will have lag and a host of other things resolved by the time people can buy and log in as paying customers.

Anyways, that is just my 2 bits from other betas I have participated in.

Yes ... it seems that November 8th is the shipping date. How ... unfortunate for SOE ... the game is not ready.
