Are we there yet???

I am so sick of the city part of Factions. I wish it would just drop into the ocean.

So how much longer do I have to endure before I get out of it? I'm currently at Zin Ju Corridor.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I dread the thought of having to take another character through the city, so perhaps once I get through it may be a long time before I play another character in Cantha. Probably the worst idea they had was locking people out of areas till they completed a certain quest or requirement.

What's that? Story you say? I would gladly give up the story for the whole game if I can just please please please skip the city.

For me, the best part of Guild Wars was getting a new character up to level 20. I could care less about anything past that and that's why most of my characters never made it to the Ring of Fire Island Chain. Once I hit the ol' two zero, there wasn't much to keep my interest. This is why Factions sux sooo bad for me. All I get to do is run around the little island levelling up, and once I hit 20, that's it. The only thing that keeps me going is the fact I haven't made it to the end with a single character yet. Once I do though, I'll probably find some other distraction to kill my gaming time.

Or maybe I won't and I just need to blow off s'more steam from my dissapointments. :)

RE: Are we there yet???

Head to the southeast corner of the Shenjun Tunnels and you'll reach Maatu Keep. You can leave the city and enter Pongmei valley from there. True, you'll still need to do the city quests at some point, but you can at least get a little fresh air.

I haven't explored the valley yet, but I stumbled upon Maatu Keep on my (wandering) way to Tahkanai Temple, and the door to the outside was open! I'm not even to the Zin Ku Corridor yet, either...

EDIT: That's the southEAST corner. West/East bleh...

RE: Are we there yet???

I hate the city too...its irritating, what with gang assassins dropping down on you at random times. That and the scenery isnt very enticing either. I really dont like how we spend half of our time on the mainland (at least) in the slums.

On the other hand, I do like that we get to level 20 quickly. My brain thinks in terms of maximums, so when I have a level 12 monk, I'm still planning attributes, skills, and hp/energy (weapons) thinking that I have the power of a level 20. I'll get a cheap green or two and go to put it on them, only to remember that all my attributes are at level 7, not 11, so I cant weild it effectively. Also, I hate the post-searing Ascalon area. Its sickening. I have a hunch that the slums will be much like that very soon (in my head, anyways), just longer. -.-

RE: Are we there yet???

That's one thing I and a lot of players hate about faction the freaking you gotta do this mission to get there, in GWP you could go almost anywhere without doing anything and it was a lot more challenging IMHO. What they did to the city and factions to make it more challeging was put 50 monsters instead of 10. Oh w/e

Some one's been playing too much Lineage =P

Nethertheless I do understand where you are coming from, when you hit the max level in a game too fast, it kind of ruins the whole experience of growth, and becoming more powerful.

Correct that I have to do the mission?
or I spelled it correctly :)

Or both? :)

RE: Are we there yet???

LOL at Krypper. I thought the same thing about Ascalon. Pre-sear was so pretty, and then to have to slog through the ugly wasteland afterwards was unappealing, though important for the story I admit. At the time, I didn't know how the game progressed, so I did EVERY single quest an NPC would give me, explored all the grounds (or so I thought), and then the missions afterwards, so it took quite awhile for me to get to the Shiverpeaks (and I didn't know you could run there; I missed that part during my exploring somehow). It got so depressing I almost quit a few times.

I think the city will be like that as well, wanting to skip over it as fast as possible. I still feel "obligated" to do all the little quests for some reason, though. I guess I'm just a bleeding heart that can't stand to see those green exclamation points, or the idea of abandoning lifeless bytes in need. ;-P

Actually, it's rather ironic...

My highest level character in Lineage 2 is only level 20. XD
I do have about 3 or 4 others that are between 12 and 18 though. :P

LOL! I do exactly the same thing, however, there is hope! I have overcome the pull of the glowing green exclamation point. :) I think...

I do want to play them. I want to play them all. I'm having a hard time fitting in time for GW, Lineage 2, an RF Online free trial, and a certain other game in my 2 to 4 hours of game time a day. Not to mention the other single player games I bought, but haven't played yet. :)

Now if you'll excuse me, I must get back to my sleep deprivation studies, and world domination...

The foreign Square. I was enticed by the idea of bringing my E/Mes down to Cantha for the huge XP quests. Then I got caught up in the different scenery, found myself doing all the quests and went to do this mission where apparently a group of 8 people are depending on my competency. I couldnt put them through that :)

I Generally hench my missions, but maybe Ill try a PUG. If I'm still having trouble, ill give you a shout.

Thanx for your offer.

Ii wouldn't worry too much about taking a group of hench through that one. Its the local quarter you need a group for, because the hench monks havent quite realized that they need to heal Master Togo...

RE: Are we there yet???

I've done Vizunah twice so far, both with PUG's, once from Local, once from Foreign. They were actually good groups. I usually hench, but I'll probably PUG more often now. I'm not the most "competent" player either, but it evens out over the group. The ease of the level with people is pretty amazing compared to just trying to hench, though some people have managed to do it.

The annoying thing was last night, we had our PUG group all set, but the team guarding Togo was ALWAYS a single player with henches, and in once case dropped out, leaving just the henches. We couldn't get to Togo in time to save him! half our group equipped speed skills and managed to get there just in time on our last run, though.

RE: Are we there yet???

Personally, I love the city. I get lost all the time and it doesnt bother me. I discover new things this way.

I think people complain too much about this game. Sure, I have issues with some of the game, and I have vocalized them. But it seems like everytime I log on to Amp there is something new about Factions being picked apart, and very little good being said about the game. Its getting a little depressing really.

I love Factions. I havent been back to Prophecies since I got it. The few things I was really concerned with are already being addressed, the others I can live with.

I say we stop bashing Factions and try being more upbeat. Lets look to the positive parts instead of always focusing on the negatives.

Just my 2 cents on the matter.

RE: Are we there yet???

Well now lets see..why would ANet do such an absurd thing...let me think....prophecies....running....constant complaints about runners and how they run noobs to places that takes skill and experience...noobs ofcourse lacking experience because they were run and cant play the proffession properly....this all equals....THE MINORITY BEING PUNISHED FOR THE MAJORITY!

Heres the run down:
People complained about runners bringing noob players into areas where noobishness is the worst possible thing.

People wanted this to be stopped in prophecies so anet di the best they could without destroying prophecies.

Anet took the initiative in Factions by making primary quests and missions that introduce you to the areas. This in turn caused the utter DESTRUCTION AND UTTER OBLITERATION of runners.

Thus punishing not only runners and noobs but the rest of us who take the time to enjoy the game and learn how to play their proffession properly.

So its simple who's to blame here. And, its certainly not Anet...its runners or more precisely the complainers about runners. Or perhaps both ^_^.

Here's an idea to stop running:

Have it check the runner's level at certain points, and if he isn't high enough (for the area), drop a level 100 'instant-crippling' dragon in front of him. XD

Yes, the scenery in Canta is terrible. I don't understand why they made the city so large. Nothing beats Kryta by Moonlight.

IMO ppl should stop whining about factions, i mean seriously we should make a 'whining' section for all those that want to complain about the way A-net has layed out the game or just make 1 long thread so we dont have to see threads such as this 1 on the boards all the time...
Just my 2 cents.

People are entitled to say what they want i suppose -_-
