i went and saw the movie friday afternoon at 1:30. i promise i wont say anythign specific about the movie, except that beast was reading scientific america in the movie. i thought singularity would like that tid bit of info!
i do highly recommend it for everyone! it was awesome. there were parts i felt could have been better, but that happens with every movie. i really couldnt tell that it wasnt the same director. i do want to say that i was very happy/pumped when it was over but i was also kind of sad/pissed. did anyone else feel this way afterwards?
but GO SEE THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!

It wasn't the movie I hoped it would be. It was a great movie but you can tell with the way it panned out that Fox only had plans for 3, but I hear there is to be a 4th movie....
All I will say is STAY THROUGH THE END TITLES.... apparently there is a scene right at the very end... and I left and missed it so i have to go again.

Got it. Going asap. My sister said it was great. Only thing she said is that she wished they hadn't killed off "her favorite character", whom she did not reveal. I will assume then that all who are on this thread ('cept me) know who this is. Interesting, yet predictable, that mutants would be curious to find out more about themselves from a science magazine. Did you happen to catch the main article before camera shifted?

It only showed the cover but I think it was a custom one for the movie, possibly concerning the "Cure". I was equally satisfied/disappointed in a way that only that movie can do. I also left before the credits were over, just an excuse to go again!

i didnt stay til after the credits, damn, same thing with the matrix 2, except i was informed by someone the day before i went to stay for that one. i went to see the 1st showing of xmen on the 25th at 11:45 in the am.
there were parts that shokced me. can we open up a spoilers thread to talk about it. as i dont know anyone else who has seen it to talk about plot related stuff with. i do like the way it ended though. was nice and intriguing (spelling cant be arsed to check that).

edit: and oh yeah before i forget the previews for Superman and Ghost Rider made me want to see those movies even more :D...Nick Cage as Ghost Rider? wow wierd casting

Could we expect any more from the guy with a cat avatar? Shadowcat is ok, but I'm still a Rogue guy. She looked better in X-men 2 though.
I was a bit disappointed in the movie. I wasn't expecting much, but I would have liked it to go past my expectations. Casting Vinnie Jones for Juggernaut couldn't have been more wrong, for one.

I agree. I saw it friday night and could not have been more disappointed. The best part about the movie was casting Kelsey Grammer as the Beast. He was born to play the Beast, AFAIC. He was perfect.
Just about everything else about it was lousy. The fight scenes were good, but that was about it AFAIC.

No, the Beast has always fought in all the comics dating back to 1963 when the X men were created. He was not blue and furry then, that came later when he worked for the Brand Corporation (A division of Roxxon) and he was experimenting with a formula much like the one in the movie. he had to ingest the formula himself for some reason I forget and ended up mutating a mutant.
Anyway, he always fought, and even was an Avenger for a good long stint that everyone remembers favorably. Seeing him in action was teh best part of X3 AFAIC.

Ever since I collected the uncanny x-men back in the 80's Ive always liked their stuff. They always had topics within their story lines that would "reality check" you in a way and give you something to think about. From dealing with racism, stereotypes, people living with incurable diseases (legacy virus), just to name a few. I was intrigued by their powerful story of a "cure" for being a mutant. I could rant about that all day and get philisophical. Anyways I liked the movie, great action, good story arcs, and the juggling of all the various charicters were balanced out. I also liked the special effects on jean greys and magnetos upper levels of power. My only complaint about it was the multiple man. . . . a badguy??? He was one of my favorite charicters next to strong guy in the old x-factor title.

Madroxx being a villain was only one of many complaints. How about Jean having a dark, Evil side instead of the Phoenix force being a cosmic entity that replicated her body, as in the comics? Here she was just evil, and Professor X repressed her dark side. Bad translation to film.

Another mutant made him blue and furry in his permanent state. Unless there were two different versions of his transformation. I'll see if I can dig up the comics that covered this. I have them in the closet.
Liked the movie for what it was. X-Men clif notes with lots of action and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine! I think Jansen and Berry played there roles a little better this time. Either they are getting comfortable with the characters, or the directing was better. Casting Grammar as Beast was a good call. And I also liked Kitty Pride. Favorite quote from the movie: "I'm not running..... dickhead!"
I never expected accuracy with the story line. Even Peter Jackson couldn't do that with six 3 hour movies. It was a fun action movie with characters I've loved for years. Don't go for X-Men accuracy, go for X-Men action. Being an avid collector of that series of comics, I was pleased and thouroughly enjoyed it.

"Some years later, in Amazing Adventures (volume 2) #11, McCoy left the X-Men after completing a doctorate in biophysics at the Xavier Institute and became a research scientist at Brand Corporation, a genetics research facility. He isolated a chemical catalyst in hope of reducing the freakish aspects of his appearance, but it instead mutated him further, as he grew gray fur all over his body, which later turned blue and acquired sharp ears, elongated canine teeth, claws, enhanced senses and an accelerated healing factor. Despite this, McCoy came to accept his fate and is one of the most upbeat and cheerful of superheroes, although at times acting the role of the "class clown." Further contrary to the suggestions of his primitive and feral appearance, he is an intellectual whose speech and mannerisms are quite eloquent and formal in nature and along with Reed Richards, Iron Man and Henry Pym, has become one of the most respected scientific minds in the Marvel Universe."

Yup, but they forgot to mention that when he turned black initially (NOT grey) he was bullet proof. That was for the first several issues of his Amazing adventures series (I have those boxed and bagged away I believe up in the attic) Then several issues later he changed to blue, and had the first healing factor in Marveldom, NOT Wolverine. This was circa 1970 I believe. How he found out he was no longer bullet proof was when he was shot , expecting it to bounce off of himself he was stunned when it penetrated his hide. (This was after he changed to his current Blue color.) But his accelerated healing factor kicked in for teh first time and he healed right up.
