| how do u make sure everyone pays when u do a run. |

Hi,
I often use my monk (F L A N D E R S) for granite and copper runs from war camp. I usually take money on arrival until i started to get scammed, i don;t like taking money part way because my routr is crap and drops the connection everynow and then. Usually i get a group of honest fellows but lately i'v been getting ungrateful little kids who just run with out paying. Is there something i can do to make sure i get payed in full. I could charge the full 2k at spearhead but then if i drop i fell guilty. I'v lost about 30-40k b/c of full groups just leaving with out paying.
How do u guys make sure u get paid?
Salim

Well, I'm not entirely certain of this, because I've never had to report anyone, but I've heard that Anet is harsh on scammers. So all you need to do is ask them all to agree to pay you in the starting town, then take a screenshot of it. Then when you get there, tell them to pay, and you can take a screenshot of the successful trades, and how many people are still in your group. Make sure you know the IGNs of the people that left without paying. Just letting them know that you are taking screenies and will be reporting scammers should keep it from happening, but if it doesn't, just report them. Send an email for guildwars support with your screenies attached, in JPEG format, and they will do something about it, but they won't tell you what. I do that every time I run, and I have never been scammed.

Often making it clear you are taking anti-scamming precautions will be enough to deter scammers, the advise above however is also very good.

The best one that I've heard is to hold an item for each person you are running until they pay up. I think it was NecroRebel that suggested holding their armor.
Basically, what you could do is require everyone to give you their armor before you leave. Then when you get to the half way point, require the half payment and you can give them half their armor back. Upon completion, you can receive the rest and then you will return them the rest of their armor.
Basically, if they don't agree to pay up, you can leave them naked and sell their armor or salvage it to make up for the expenses.
Granted, even this won't make everyone pay, but it might help you feel a little better about it.

I don't think A-Net cares that much about running scams.. I mean.. Every run you do, you risk getting scammed. The scams A-Net cares about are those that involve 100k+XX (something) I think.. And even if you reported them and A-Net did something about it.. You would never know.. Soo.. My point is.. There's no point.. XD
Fiery Fira, that's all ya need to know..

LOL anet being harsh on scammers. Thats a good one. But anyway you should just make everyone pay halfway. Just take a screenshot of everyone and if your connection drops pm the mall and tell the what happened. Do the run over or just give them their money back.

Ah yes, but can you prove they don't care? Their rules say that scamming, and causing other players grief are punishable offences. Not paying someone for a run that you agreed to pay for is scamming. Therefore, I wouldn't be so hasty to say that they won't uphold the rules they've set just because it's over a few measly K.

Make em pay at portals, small outposts and say you wont go any further without payment.. simple. If they say shit like 'its in my bank' just say ok ill go back to the last town and u can get it.

They do care. I got scammed for 15 k once, and I took screenies of the event and reported it. I have never ever seen that person online since then =)

I had a guildmate, whose name I guess I have to omit...
Long story short, she had been in our guild for several months, she was always cool, she was on TS all the time, we played together a lot, we e-mailed stupid jokes to one another, she was a pillar member in our guild.
We promoted her to officer, everyone really liked her and she became one of our guilds "in crowd"
She was helpful to newer members and she was usually available to guild activities and what-not.
I trusted her completely, she had earned it.
When i got my 3rd GW account, I needed to transfer some money from one of my other accounts to the new one so i could pimp out the characters....
It is a common practice in my guild to ask another member to hold something for you so it can be moved from 1 account to another....
Now obviously I am not going to have just anyone hold something of extreme value, but Serena had earned my trust and the trust of everyone in the guild.
I asked her to hold some stuff, she agreed....
400k, 375 ectos 2 razorstones and a superior absorption, I handed them to her and logged out to get a different character to accept them back.
in the 30 seconds or so it took to log out and log in she had left the guild and placed me on ignore.......
i had screenshots of me asking her to hold the stuff, and of me trading them too her....
not the best evidence since I was the one who logged out...
But still, this was more than half what I had on all my accounts at the time, and I would imagine that it was worth investigating.....
i did report her, and i had my guild leader watch her name on his friends list......
To the best of our knowledge she was not banned....
I never did speak to her again, I am still on her ignore list with 2 of my accounts, I do have her friends listed on my other account so that I will always be able to recognize her characters in any dealings that may transpire......
But , the whole thing was just bad.
I have heard lots of stories, and seen so many people bragging about scamming someone.
i really do not believe that the GW team responds to scammers......
Oh, and to get back on topic in a more direct way, the armor holding idea is good, but the time it takes to find people who will agree to that is just as detrimental to my running profits as being scammed......
and I don;t think that method will ever be widely accepted, because scammers will arise that pretend to run just so you will hand them your armor and they can salvage it.....
I basically stopped doing the Droks run, because I get a scammer or 2 in every bunch, I really only run guildies (which is always free) and the elona mission which scammers can be easily defeated on. because if they do not pay I will run my character out into an area surrounded by enemies just outta aggro range and go watch TV till the scammer drops
IF anyone can come up with a way to prevent being scammed as a runner that is practical, I would pay good money in game to know it.
My IGN is Ket Arynn

Always check to see if they have their money before you leave... dont know if anyone said that. Ive started to do that in elona runs and havent got scammed since.
