ArenaNet is now wholly owned by NCsoft, a South Korean game publisher |
Heres a link As proof, they're both good games because they're both made by Blizz (they make all the good games, I liked WoW a bit more but the A-Net won me over because their division didn't charge)

I'm not sure how well can you compare GW and WoW because they are completely different from each other. I haven't played WoW but I *think* it's more PvE than GW.
Also, if you say that GW is better because it has no monthly fees than you should know that WoW has more updates and such, so you'll get your money's worth. :)
GW is IMO very PvP based game and it's made for people who don't want to spend 199% of their time leveling, and because of this GW isn't that "in-depth" playable. I mean, how many people actually play GW as a role-playing game?
WoW takes more time but I think you can actually do some "roleplay" in WoW. Also, I think WoW has a lot more explorable areas than GW.
But since GW has no monthly fees, alot of people buy it because of that. It doesn't mean they love the game because it's PvP based. I proably would try WoW but I'm already playing CoV ( City of Villains), which also has monthly fees, so I really can't afford to play both CoV and WoW. Otherwise I'd love to give WoW a go. :)

I found this out the other day when i was trying to play the WoW free trial. Its impossible to not give your credit card details to play the game, and if you do you arnt allowed to stop playing and get rid of your account. Also it said it was £8.99 a month but its says you have to pay £15 per month.

Argh... don't compare!
They may be in the same genre (although GW isn't a "real" MMORPG despite the fact ANet likes to call it that) but there are many and big differences.
Which one you think is best is merely a matter of preference.
Also these two games were NOT both created by Blizzard.
Yes, Triforge Games (the original name at foundation before it was changed to ArenaNet) was founded by three people who left Blizzard after the development of WoW but it's not the same team and additionally not even these 3 people were all directly involved.- Pat Wyat - Lead programmer of the Battle.net system
- Mike O'Brien - Lead programmer Warcraft 3
- Jeff Strain - Lead programmer World of Warcraft (Only during the first year of it's development)

My first instinct was to purchase WoW though soon after finding out about the monthly fee I shoved that thought right out of my mind. I then settled for my second choice which was GW and i'm so glad i'm playing this for in my opinion it's a far better game.

I find it funny when people say don't compare the two games, they are different.
Can one not compare the experience of an apple to an orange? they are different, but some may enjoy an apple and should be free to debate why.
I have played WoW and GW both in great detail. I personally think they are very similar in many respects, but they are also very different.
I think Guild Wars is far more accessable in every aspect of the game. You can be what you what and how you want without a great deal of effort.
That doesn't mean there is no skill, the skill is more focused on how you work as a team, how well you understand your skill set, builds etc.
Compared to WoW, you may have many different alts, but you really have to focus your energy on one build, what skills you take doesn't matter, you can take em all :-)
Guild Wars still has a monthly fee, it is just optional, and hidden. If you want new content every so often, you gotta buy the new game. If you like the old content, then stay with it.
My biggest problem with WoW is that at level 60, once you have done scholo, MC, etc, etc, etc, it gets boring for me. I was lucky to be in big raiding guild and had access to them all with ease and on a regular basis, smaller guilds can't, unless they group with others, etc.
I personally hate pvp in WoW. I think many will disagree with me on this. But I used to pvp before the honor system and battlegrounds. Everyone of us that pvp'd alliance or hord loved it. It was REAL, we were there for the fun of it, no rules, open battle, every level, everyone that wanted in ... sure the odd time it crashed the server, but it was the best time I ever had in regards to any pvp. Honor ruined it, no one played for the fun, every got in massive groups and ganked everyone and everything ... I dunno what it is like now, but that killed wow for me.
I also think Guild Wars developers are more likely to make changes, they love every class. In WoW there was always feelings that they favored various classes, that may have changed now, but it took 8 months to even look at the mage class, and we got more water, whoopi!
In the end, I would pick Guild Wars. Not because it is free monthly(kinda), or cause it is more pvp than pve, I just enjoy it more, I find it easier to get friends to play it, and Life isn't where you are, it's who you are there with :-)

Guild Wars is WoW lite. In terms of everything, content, levels, weapons, customizability, and also the price. The main reason people play GW as opposed to WoW is WoW's monthly fee. Yes there are other differences between WoW and GW, but honestly the reason I picked up GW over WoW was the price tag.
Guild Wars is a great game, don't get me wrong, but eventually you'll run out of things to do, which is just about impossible to do in WoW.
So my conclusion is if youre a cheap-o or just like a smaller game GW is better, but if you've got money and think bigger is better then go for WoW.

Mostly in this forum, i was trying to show why i think people shouldn't argue over these, they're both made by the same company (ok, so A-Net in only a Group from Blizz, but the fact remains, They're made by the same people, so we can't say one company makes better games than the other

no Anet is not a division of Blizzard. They are a totally different company. It was just founded by a few people that worked for Blizzard in the past. They no longer do cause they left to start their own company which is Anet. I like the fact that its not P2P for several reasons. One if I don't want to pay for new content I don't have to and can still play. Two I don't have to keep paying to keep my acct active so I don't lose my chars, so if something major comes up and can't play for a bit I still got everything. But mostly If I'm gonna P2P I think the initial game should be free and just P2P instead of paying the $60 for the game and then the $15 a month to play. But thats just me.
I'm neither here nor there but everywhere. I am who I am and nothing more but yet I'm nothing less than what I strive to be.

I know this leads a bit of off the subject of WOW alone but you could always compair other things about GW that Blizz has done besides WOW like say D2. Look at most of the skills on GW and how similar they are to ones on D2. Of course I guess after a while thinking up new skills becomes harder and harder. I wonder how many chapters they will be able to make and still come up with new skills for new classes before the chapters just become new areas with the same classes and skills.
I'm neither here nor there but everywhere. I am who I am and nothing more but yet I'm nothing less than what I strive to be.
