55??

Ive seen that many players talk about they're 55's whats that type of char and is it a good one?

its a monk with 55hp, its a build used for farming UW and other places. If your interested in the build, there are few builds in the guide section.

it is a character with 55hp(u get that with 5 sup runes all -75hp and with a -50hp focus). with prot spirit u only lose 5dmg per attack..

any class can be a 55 as long as it has Mo as secondary (or primary). It means 55 hp and is obtained by using 5 superior runes and a -50hp offhand Grim Cesta.

55 monks (or 55's of any class) are used to farm mostly melee-only creatures such as trolls and minotaurs. They are extremely good at this, but only if used correctly. I don't know the build off the top of my head, as I dont have a 55 monk, but you should search the guides section (here) for "55 monk." That'll give you a few builds.

I've actually just answered a post about 55'ing the UW...check this:

55 Monk with SS/SV

and change SB to Shield of Judgement {E} and rebirth to Zealots Fire.

There you have a Solo 55 Monk build.

Go to LA and buy a cheap set of Tats (AL value doesn't matter), put 5 sup runes on (1 of each + a 2nd of which ever is cheapest), get a -50 Grim cesta.
Should cost you about 15ish k and you can get the cesta as a reward from the 'Cities of Ascalon' quest in Ascalon.

Now you have a 55 Monk and a 55 build to farm so many different things :)

The 55 works by using Prot Spirit, this skill only allows you to take damage up to 10% of your maximum health...and whats 10% of 55 rounded down (Thankyou ANet!) to the nearest whole ?....5! So 5 damage per hit with +10ish regen from HB & Mending makes you pretty much invincible. If you die it gets better, take off your cesta and you have 33HP so you only take 3 dmg per hit. If you can find a -20 offhand this goes down to 13 and you take 1 dmg per hit. Since you are solo your dp will go very quickly so keep an eye on your health as a 105HP monk is much harder to run ^_^

I've met a 55 Ele who farms from Droks and he's very very good! He used a couple of local non-aoe fire spells...I think inferno and another similar. If I ever meet him again I'll ask! Only drawback is that unlike SoJ he can't get the Avicara rangers unles he stands next to them ^_^

i had a 55 hp ele and it worked out well.
i used shokwave crystal wave and othere aoe spells that didn't trigger aoe panic.

and 1 thing where to get the -50 chesta?
i am to lazy to buy it for 7k

You get it from the 'Cities of Ascalon' quest in Prophecies. Simon the Scribe in Old Ascalon gives it to you.

You get it from a quest called "Cities of Ascalon" if I remember corrcetly. It's in Ascalon. Just go up the big stairs that take you to a dragon painting and go left. ^^

is Suffering in there for any particular reason? Or is it a coverup hex for SS? I've experimented with the 55 Necro unsuccesfully for the past 3 weeks, and I wonder if thats the missing piece.....

Suffering provides -2 degen for every single thing surrounding you, seems like a sensible choice to me :)

I'm a experienced 55 necro...depending on where you are farming, there is different tactics

You obviously take the 5 basic monk skills required, SS, Des enchant

curses - 16
blood - 5

UW/drok trolls
healing - 8
protection - 10
soul reap - 1

gaurdian

Pongmei Val/any jade brotherhoods
healing - 9
protection - 9
soul reap - 2

defile enchants

depending on what the mesmers use, sometimes you can take them, sometimes not.
They interrupt and use Expel Hex...just gotta fig. out a tactic for them
