I am thinking shields will not intrest anyone in DR, just looking at the two-handed monstrousities coming from the characters hands in the ss it looks like the warrior is for one thing and thats slashing and smashing. Especially with no traditional healer availible the role of "tanking" is probably going to based on a first come first THERVED! basis. Tanking will probably be a minor role and therefore defense specced warriors will be rare and probably boring with mass killing going on around. That is just my pov on the matter.

I think so too. This game is all about damage to the max. If you are getting into melee range you want to chop off as many limbs as possible, not causing bruses. And I would love to be that chopping warrior. Never played Diablo, but in Bulder's Gate there was nothing as much fun as piling the wolves up all around you with my +2 sword.

I saw a few screen shots. FRom them it looks liek there are going to be 3 main setups for warriors.
dual welding for more mods and quick fast dmg.
two handed weilding for large dmging single hits
and weapon+sheild- for best defense possible. I'm sure some skills will only be available for you if you have 2 weaps equiped or a sheild equipped.
Otherwise i assume warriosr are goig to be the most reliable class in the game to start with. YOU'll be able to survive easily and all of that goodstuff.

So far, My experience has been the opposite. I've preferred to carry a shield with my fighter. His attacks are really fast. It's hard to balance Speed versus damage in ANY game. This one is just as tedious.
You have to decide..."Do I want to Hit hard and slow, or hit fast and frequent?" You also have to decide if you want some of the skills that go with your character. There are so many ways to build a character in DR. Even more now that there is no class restrictions. Anybody can be anything, even if they choose a fighter to start.
