Firestorm ...Like it or Hate it?

I know alot of people seem to really hate this spell, but my nuker keeps it in his skillbar. It may not always be useful but when it is it really shines.

As a side note, do you think it works better in factions? Are they not running away as much or is it just me?

I only hate it because its so useless in pvp (I'm a pvper, not pver ;). Meteor shower owns because of its dmg togheter with its knockdown. Fire storm is far too easy to avoid and doesn't do enough dmg.

i dont its crap... but i dont think its great either. i usually use it when i need to do Aoe cause first i start with meteor shower than i add that which isnt all that bad

Since I'm playing my warrior alot I really hate spells like firestorm becuase it breaks the aggro. In my opinion those kind of spells are simply lazy nuking which then makes the monks job harder.

The only reason I would keep that kind of spell is if I get aggroed I put it on the nearest enemy and all the enemies surrounding me will scatter.

But that's just me.

More than enough to not need firestorm.....

I think meteor shower does its just that they keep gettin knocked down while they tryin to get away...

As for Firestorm...
I have no comments about that, imo is a pretty good skill but I guess everyone has their own opinions about it.

rodgorts invocation FTW it's even better with arcane echo, it's an almost constant stream of em, dmg galore if u do it right.

Used by a team in a coordinated fashion it's brilliant. I mostly use it as a mob-clearer on my fire Ele who hangs back with the monk. So I use it as a get to shoo melee critters off his (or my) back and leave him to do his healing.

Yay lol, i use arcane echo with dual attunements and just spam the crap out of rodgort's invocation. sooo much damage, i love it.

EDIT: oh and about fire storm, i like to use it in pve with my friend as a water ele using deep freeze, then they just stay still and get owned by it. Otherwise i don't use it.

I use Lava Font for that, & is fun. Costs a little less, and has faster recharge (though doesn't last as long). It's great to stand by your monk and use that for melee defense. Course, my Ele isn't too advanced yet, so I don't know all the other spells...

actualy no this not true. I don't know the math but I find that the aoe or damage by other means that makes foes run are damage armour ratio related. This maybe hard to explain but I will try

Firestorm makes foes run because the damage done to the foe is within a damage range that is greater then low damage but not great damage in itself and when this level of damage is done often by firestorm or by sword(more unlikely), arrow or whatever the foe will run. If the damage is less they don't run-if it is greater they don't run. Now this is armour/health level related, so what may make non bosses run will not make a boss run, like wise what will make a boss run will not make a non boss run.

Meteor shower does not make non bosses run and this is not because of knock down as they can still run with the knockdown it is just harder as anyone who has had meteor shower thrown on them can confirm.

If you throw meteor shower twice on a boss the boss will run so if you are a echo or heavy nuker cast the showers only after the last one has ended or the boss will run and pull the group after it.

So in brief-firestorm's damage range is such that the foes(non bosses) will scatter, where as meteor shower's damage range does not make foes run except if throw twice on a boss.

My advice is not to use firestorm at all and the only times that it's use is justified is if you don't have shower yet or if you want to scatter foes at the times of need(and for this I would say use flameburst(or lava) which makes foes run depending on the foes) Unload firestorm and unload it fast!!! I have seen more parties killed off by it then foes killed by it once I passed over into kryta-drop it and drop it fast!!!

Added-the speed in which the skill(s) inflicts the right damage level also makes a AOE skill work-a little slower and they will not run-maybe a little faster and they may not run.
