Hello! I'm new to COH

Hey all my name is Lenway. Ever since The guild wars gameamp community arrived, i've been in it. I'm a very active Guild Wars Player... or should I say.. WAS.

I quit Guild Wars for a bit and start Playing City Of Heroes:)
Infact I just started COH today.

Well, That's all I have to say for now, I'm going to try to adjust to the game and learn about it.

Well, lets see...

You haven't said which AT, powersets or playstyle you are using, so all I can reccomend is Sprint. You move a lot faster if you use Sprint.

Seriously, though, there is no bad powerset. Pick whichever ones look the most interesting to you. We can help you find a way to kick butt with any of them.

Welcome to Gameamp CoH, you picked a pretty good time to get the game as we have only just started a Gameamp members only SG on Triumph server, so once you get an alt you like and want to run with the experienced guys here, sling one of the staff an ingame message at their globla and we can get you in and help you get into the thick of the action.

First time out, go Blaster and remember range is your friend!!!

That or a scrapper.

Anyways, Im sure others will have plenty of advice and feel free to ask us anything, we're all here to help and any amper is a welcome addition to the SG.

Katana / Super Reflexes! ...ok so I'm biased. If you plan on doing a lot of soloing, check out the scrapper sets. They'll do you good in the long run. If ya like being in the middle of everything, I would say a Tank. Blaster if you like to deal the damage, defender for debuffs / heals, controller for... well... holds.

Best bet would be to try a little of everything in outbreak. Find what you like and then roll with it. *nods*

Welcome. I to would recommend a scrapper to start out but don't be afraid to try lots of stuff and play it for a couple hours or a couple minutes if you hate it... All are interesting. But I find most people go "Woah, this is cool." when they try a scrapper. and the Katana is not a bad choice.

Welcome to the site.

Just to let you know, if you want to join the supergroup that a few people were talking about (Gameamp Alliance), you need to have a hero on the Triumph server.

One thing you can do to get help in game from many of us is to join the Gameamp.com global channel. When you are in the game right click on the chat window and click "Edit Tab". Then select "Join Channel". The will bring up a little window that you will type the channel you want to add. Type in Gameamp.com and enter. You should then see the Gameamp.com listed on the right side of the window (you may have to click "OK" then right click the chat window again and "Edit Tab"). If you highlight the gameamp.com and click add, this will make it so you can chat with anyone on any server that has also joined the channel (that would be many of us).

By posting questions there those of us online when you are can answer any questions or even teamup with you and show you some things. This is where most of us ask if anyone has a team running we can join or just to chat for awhile.

Because I am not at home right now those directions are from memory. If anyone sees anything that is inaccurate let me know.

Oh... the way I like to play.. Well I like to be in control of everything I see from a ranged distance.have like.

If you guys know what AoE is, I would like to do that from long distances.

oh and joining the supergroup sounds fun :)

You definitely sound like more of a blaster. These are the ranged combat heroes that don't have as many hit points (health) but do a good amount of damage. I would try out the different types of blaster and look at the posts under the blaster category in the forums. Many of the people here have posted the pros and cons of each power set.

You like AoE's at range? Everyone's correct about blasters, but I can't believe no one has mentioned Fire Blast. That and Assault Rifle are the AoE kings of the blaster set. Try Energy Manipulation, Ice Manipulation and Devices for your support.
