Lol. Make that 51 people who could read that. I didn't even realise the letters were all different for a second. And even then I could still read it fine.

Lol yeah, I saw this awhile back. It's really cool, as long as the first and last are in the right spot it's totally understandable :p. Although I had a bit of trouble on the word strange...haha. Neat post.

It is actually a hoax, there was never any research done at Cambridge University. However, it does provide a little insight to how we read. Depending on the order of letters it will slow your reading. Don't quote the percentages, but
same first and last letter: pecnil, is only about 10% slower
first and last switched lencip, is about 200% slower.
similar but different first letter: qencil, is 300% slower
and different first letter but not similar: aencil is about 400% slower.
EDIT: Ofcourse, since each example is pencil, it won't take you 400% longer to figure out the last one. This is assuming your mind doesn't already know the word.

I can read this without any problem (even though English isn't my first language). I've suspected that I have a strange mind for a long time now :D
However, there's one thing I want to point out. You say
| QUOTE | | Olny 55 plepoe tuo fo 100 anc |
so wouldn't it be more accurate to say that the 45 people who CAN'T read this are "strange"? They're the minority (45 compare to 55), and "normality" = "majority" (that's how it works most of the time, I think).
So if you can read this, you have a "normal" mind and if you can't, you actually have a "strange" mind?

I translated this for the other 45 people wondering what the heck you were talking about =P
If you can read this, you have a strange mind, too
Can you read this? Only 55 People out of 100 can.
I couldn't believe that I could actually understand what I was reading. The pheanomaol* power of the human mind, according to a research at Cambridge* University, it doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only important thing is that the first and last letter be in the right place. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without a problem. This is because the human mind does not read every letter by itself, but the word as a whole. Amazing huh? yeah and i always thought spelling was important! If you can read this forward it to rouy dneirf.

Heh. Although reading things with incorrect spellings is actually normal since most people can do it, I'm still strange despite the fact that I can also read it.
Fun fact: during various psych classes I've taken, I've taken various psych tests, and each one suggests that less than 2% of the population has a mind like mine. Several of those tests were completely different and measured different things, which MIGHT mean that I'm only like 2% of the 2% of the population that is like me on the OTHER tests... Sort of funny how that works out, isn't it? I really find the people who think they're all "different" and "unique" who find out through that sort of test that they think exactly like 80% of the population funny, ESPECIALLY when they continue to insist that they're different. Just like everybody else.

Some irony in the fact that you feel as though you are more unique ... being that only 2% of people think like you. How exactly do you think?
