2-Man (ss and 55) UW farming

Ok, I finally ascended my monk and got his 30 extra attributes, and I got him set up for 55ing today. (just need to get the 19% enchanting pommel on my sword.) Anyways, I was wondering what would the skill setup be for a Mo/Me and how the build works overall. I know I have to bring Mending, HB, SB, PS.. I forgot what other skills I need to bring.

Yes, I have looked at the guides, but I haven't found anything that met my needs. +cred to people who answer.

SB/HB/Prot Spir/Balth/Essence/Mending

Those are standard

I use Distortion/Watchful Spirit as my last 2

The necro should provide you with your energy, no need for Blessed Sig.

Basically, you should do the basic 55 build (Mending, Healing Breeze, Prot Spirit, Essence Bond, Balthzar's spirit/Blessed Aura). Your Elite Spell should be Spell Breaker (as you know). Your secondary is going to be Mesmer, so you can bring Arcane Echo (to Echo SB) and Mantra of Resolve (so you dont get interupted). Basically, you just have to maintain your skills so you don't die, and it's a cakewalk from there!

sometime i see the 55 use sb and when 2 dying nightmares pop up he die
anyone know why?

Either he got interupted, didnt cast it early enough, or it just ran out. It happens occasionally, but it shouldnt a lot if the person knows what they are doing

so should i practice 2 man uw with a friend who is an ss so i don't run into the random guy who usually calls people nubs, or should i try to cap SoJ (i have such great luck finding PUGS for that) and practice 55ing trolls and such?

i find UW 55ing to be some of the easiest there is (no interrupts after ataxes etc.)

i go in as Mo/W

never once died (parially good SS's for nightmares)
but the build hasnt ever failed me. It DOES req going monk warrior though, but that shouldnt be too hard.

OR, seeing as you are Mo/Me...
i have only used bonettis a couple times, when something got interrupted or we were fighting too many things at once (colds + nightmare + smites)

so i would bring arcane echo and echo sb if you think you have the time to cast it when you see a nightmare pop (instead of bonettis defense)

The only problem with bonettis defense, is when you go up against smite crawlers. In order for SV to work, they must hit you, which is why I like mantra of resolve a lot better

55 monking in uw

hey this is the build that i learned from a friend...its works really well and we have cleared uw plenty of times

ok the best profession for tanking the Underworld as a monk, in my opinion is a Mo/Me...ok here is the build

for the scalp tatoo i recomend the one for divine favor

0 Domination Magic
0 Illusion Magic
8 Inspiration Magic
10 Divine Favor
15 Protection
3 Smiting
12 Healing

ok here is the set up from left to right....

1. Healing Breeze(+8 health regeneration)

2. Protective Spirit(for 19 seconds u can lose more than 10%max hp form single attack or spell)

3. Guardian(for 5 seconds u have 50% chance to block attacks)

4. Blessed Signet(gain 3 energy for each enchantment u are maintaining)

5. Spell Breaker(for 13 seconds all spells that target u fail)

6. Mantra of Resolve(for 61 seconds u cannot be inturupted, but whenever u would be interupted u lose 7 energy)

7. Mending(while u maintain this enchantment u have +4 health regeneration)

8. Essence Bond(while u maintain this enchantment u gain +1 energy everytime u are hit with a physical attack)

ok when u start out use your bonds (mending, and essence bond) then wait till u get full energy. then use ur stance(mantra of resolve) and then use blessed signet, protective spirit and healing breeze and run in. try and aggro the nightmare nearby. if he comes out use spell breaker right away and if he dosnt run back to the top of the stairs. then just maintain protective spirit and healing breeze while the necro kills all the axtes with spiteful spirit. use blessed signet when necessary to keep up energy, also continue to use mantra of resolve when it runs out(it should last about a minute)

when u get to the grasping darknesses u should do the same thing u do when when u fight the axtes at the beginning

when u get to the smites do the same thing u do witht the darknesses and the axtes, if there are more than 6 smites then also use guardian.

when u fight the coldfires do the same thing as the axtes and the darknesses but also use spellbreaker before going into battle

ok remember this is not about speed its all about taking ur time and going slowly, remember as in everything else in this game, TIMING IS EVERYTHING, remember that if u remember nothing else from this post...if u have any questions let me know

As you come in, cast all permanent enchantments on yourself, get the neccie to BR you. Have set 1 equiped as you begin, get into aggro of the aataxes and cast your HB and PS, if a nightmare spawns, quickly cast SB and then switch to set 2 and kill the nightmare before dealing with the aataxes. Switch back to set 1 before casting any other enchantments.

I'm the necro in my 2 man group...but my monk and I have done it several times over

and the monk doesnt use a 20% enchant, no need...he uses a holy rod

we've taken 8+ smites + colds...I use BR on him before he enters an area where nightmares usually are so he'll have enough energy to cast SB...then he kills them with the wand

Generaly most people kill the smites and re-start, but i like to kill the smites then come back and do the clearing the squids quest then the unwanted guests quest, the terrorwebs on that drop some nice golds. basicaly you can kill all the mobs in those areas, you only encounter problems if you go the obsidian worm way as there are alot of mesmers and necros

hey i gave you my build above and it is also the build the 55 monk that i usually go with and we clear all the ecto droppers in the underworld all the time in about 30 minutes to an hour...so i has to work and he can take on 8-10 smites at a time and take on coldfires so it seems to work pretty well

Since I have never done duo farming in uw, and I have read all this, I wonder... does the necro deal the dmg on these builds, or how do you kill the monsters, cause I can't find any damagedealing skills, and won't it take pretty long time to kill the monster without any damageskills ?

Yea, the necro's job is to cast Arcane Echo, then Spiteful Spirit (ss), then the echo'd SS, and repeat on all of the enemies. This will cause 37 dammage (41 with Awaken the Blood) every time an enemy attacks or casts a spell. The 55hp monk is just meant to take the dammage, as it is hard to kill a good 55hp.

100% chance of suicide
100% Warrior and 95% monk
