New Character Ideas 

Well this thread is for any ideas anyone has for new characters in the next couple of Guild Wars Chapters. You may include new weapons and skills along with the characters, just try not to make them over the top.

If you could make some pictures or examples as well that would be class!

Perhaps ANet will be watching?

i was thinking of jewelery that your character could wear.
not to make you stronger but to look rich ^^

and maybe more faces and skins.
btw: would't it be cool if we could make for example a warrior with a tyrian face and a canthan haircut? that would make you look a bit more special.

I like the idea of making your character more personal to the player. It looks wierd when you see identical twins around.

nice idea halobump but that char is sooo strong it'd unballance it, they would have to make the armour light and prob make it so the dragon only had 1 fire attack like breath of fire.

I liek the faces idea ALOT....i get bored with these Korean looking faces....No offence to koreans =] i just rather my player look...a bit more like me u know?

enrgy: medium

attributes:

main: godly magic: for each stat your god powers deal an extra 2 damage or heal 2 extra HP points

hell magic: much attack skills like spells that set your foe on fire and do massive fire damage

heavenly magic: sort of healing prayers

god forms: transform yourself in a mystic creature with positive effects and negative effects

would this be cool?

Uses Special Songs that enchance the party or boost effectiveness of spells or reduce enemies resistances and effectiveness. More of a support unit then a combatant, and uses instruments as weapons that boost the songs effectiveness.
Songs remain as long as the bard is singing.

Weapons: Flutes, Guitars, Harps

Energy: High

I like this idea, yet it sounds a lot like MU doesn't it...
Anyway how about adding an Attrib of Dragon Magic, and changing Support in to Natural Defence.
Dragon Magic will make his Dragon attacking skills stronger.
Natural Defence will let the Dragoon use his natural ability of survival. He will have Attack and Defence boosts as you said, but also the ability to protect other people in his party with his defensive spells.
Natural Defence will also decrease the Energy cost of Lance Mastery, Dragon Taming and Dragon Magic skills by 2% every level, so at level 16 of Natural Defence his skills will cost 32% less. Natural Defence won't affect it's own skills.
His only downside will be the fact that all his skills will cost a lot of Energy, which means he needs to choose wisely.
He also will to capture his Dragon in order to use his Dragon Magic and Dragon Taming (He could use "Tame Dragon" in order to capture him). Dragon Taming will include skills that make he's Dragon faster and more protecting, and skills that will let him summon the Mother Dragon spirit to help him survive while being attacked by many foes, by increasing his Natural Defence, letting him survive for longer then anyone else. While being under the effects of Mother Dragon spirit skills, he's Health and Energy will be cut in half untill the effects fade away.

I like this =)

Rather than MU it looks like ff11 but to have it in GW would be awsome and to have a proffesion like a druid in WoW were you can take on different forms like as you travel though the game say you find a bear cast some kind of skill on it then anytime later you could change form into a lvl 20 bear....

About Dragoon Knight 

I want to try to keep him away from being a Ranger Clone. I'd rather that he summons his Dragon instead of taming.

Another idea about him I've been working on is ways your dragon can evolve, for example, make him use a lot of fire skills and he become a flame dragon with reduced cost to flame skills and a resistance to fire.

Also a new feature that could be included could be a "Pet Trading Centre" where you can buy, trade and sell pets. So this would mean that if your dragon/pet wasn't what you wanted, you can trade it here!

If you don't tame the Dragon, why call the Attribute Dragon Taming...
Anyway you didn't say what you thought about my ideas of upgrading him.
About the Pet Center thing, I've thought about that ages ago on my Ranger. I thought that, the same way you have F1, F2, F3 and F4 for the weapons, you could have F5, F6, F7 and F8 for pets, so you can choose which one, to use diffrent types of attacks (Slashing Etc.), that way you don't need to give away your pet you worked so hard on to get it to level 20, and then throw it away just so you can have a Black Mow, or a cool Phoenix.
To make it more like other stuff, the pets would be kept in Poke Balls XD

Hahaha pets in poke balls is a funny concept.... but thats just like the minipets in theory... i mean you store them on you somwhere.... yet they are as abig as your legs??

So surely they are held in some small package then released :P

Enchantment – Behemoths rage – Defence and attack increase by 50% while you maintain this enchantment, but you get no energy regen, and ends once you suffer a hex or another enchantment.

Spear Mastery
Ranged attack – Long dive - jump from afar to plunge spear into enemy, dealing + 5-17 piercing damage.

Attack – Calf Cut – swing of the spear slicing into the enemies calf, crippling their movement for 6-15 seconds

Dragoon Magic
Transformation – Behemoth Halfling- Transform into Halfling with +80 armour but 50% speed for 15-60 seconds. Transformations cost energy to maintain.

Magic - Shadow Flare – fires a shadowy blast for direct non elemental damage on one target. 15-32 damage

Dragon Mastery –
Summon - Summon flame dragon – Summon a your personal fire dragon, which has its own stats and levels as you use it.

Dragon attack – Dragon Breath – Dragon uses breath of element of its type Dealing 30-60 damage. Flame Dragon uses fire element breath

Dragoon Magic mainly consists of offensive magic and transformations, which like stances give status boosts and reductions, but like enchantments cost energy to maintain. Spear Mastery are spear attacks that deal extra damage or cause a few status ailments. Dragon scale skills, raise defence of allies or yourself. Dragon Mastery is bassed around your dragon pets, and their abilities.

As Grenth and Dwayna awokened from their sleep, the damage had been done, towns ripped apart, rivers running dry, forests on fire. What had happened, they did not know. As Balthazar fell gazed upon the land, he saw the struggling manifestations and cursed them. Joining the two together as one being.

A New God was created, one of peace and war, of love and hate, of anger and remorse of grenth and dwayna.

Dwayna and Grenth frowned upon this new creation, bearing resemblance to them both, and wished to split it once more, returning it to their natural forms and regaining each part within them. This however didnt go to plan. As the two goads unleashed their spells hoping to break its form, the god split unusually and mixed up. On one side, there was the knowledge and magic of the gods. On the other was the strengtrh and courage of the gods. From these two pieces spawned 2 new warriors.

The Demonologist and The Demon Hunter, blessed with the love of dwayna and the anger of Grenth, these powerful foes, feared and respected eachother, as they were infact the alpha and omega of eachother. The bane of eachothers existence.

Ok, here are the ideas previously mentioned on demonologists and the demon Hunter <3


Demon Hunter

The slayer, destroyer, predator. The demon Hunter knows only death.


Great Sword Mastery – With every level of this attribute you do more damage wielding Great Swords.

Angelic Blessing – Leveling this raises the power and durations of angelic skills

Demonic Calling – raising this attribute aids the demonic powers and skills

(Primary) Cellular reconstruction – Raising this Exhibits stronger transformations +2% increase in power per level

Weapons for the Demon Hunter are Great swords, 2 Handed swords with long hilts and massive blades.

The Demon Hunters armour should be quite high, withstanding countless demon attacks. Possibly the same as Warriors maybe higher, but with weaknesses, ie weakness to holy attacks or weakness to the different elements.

Great Sword Mastery

Hard Hit – Raise sword and swipe with great speed dealing +12 damage.

Leg Sweep - Take a Low swing at the legs to cripple the enemy and you do + 1-7 damage

Angelic Blessing

Dwaynas Messenger – Transform into Dwaynas Messenger obtaining high level smite magic and high magic defence. – 2 energy regen

Heavenly Blow – Slice across the enemy with a light blue glow, dealing +7 damage and haling you for the damage dealt.

Demonic calling
Grenths Messenger – Transform into Grenths messenger, a wraith like creature with high level magic attacks – 1 energy regen – 1 health regen

Hellish Slice – Jump up only to slash down on the enemy with a reddish glow Dealing + 18 damage and knock down.


This is just my take on the earlier mentioned Demon Hunter

I was gonna include about romulus' shapeshifter, but that is more like a werecreature than the demon hunter.



Warlock/demonologist

"Spawn of Knowledge, the Warlock is an amazing Magician, with skills only the gods could grant. Using his Knowledge he summons monsters of Good and Evil to do his bidding."


From here on its Oneswordsmans work

The Warlock specialises in summoning demon pets to aid him in battle, the Warlock itself is quite fragile but its pet is very powerful with a wide range of attack skills as well as buffs for the Warlock and the rest of the party. There are a wide variety of pets available as the game progresses, the functions of these pets vary, some are ranged attackers, others are excellent melee combatants. The Warlock's spells are more focused towards supporting his pets' damage with slow DoT (Damage over time) spells and potent de-buffs.

The Warlock can only summon one pet at a time, and summoning a pet uses alot of energy so keeping the pet alive is vital if the battle is to be won.

Weapons: The warlock uses wands and staffs so it can support from long-range.

Attributes

(Primary) Magical Feeding: Each time the Warlock expends energy by using a skill his pet recieves 10% (per point in this attribute) of the energy cost in health.

Demonic Arts: Increases power of Pet related skills/spells and allows the summoning of more powerful creatures.

Mischievous Curses: Increases the power of your DoT curses.

Hellish Support: Increases the power of skills that allow the warlock to buff and heal its pet.


Examples of Demons

The Sprite: A small imp-like fiend, a primarily ranged attacker with low health but quick explosive attack power.

The Golem: A demon with a body forged from molten rock, with lots of armour and hit points, this guy is the prefect tank.

The Hellhound: A viscious, hellish dog, a faster melee attacker, able to inflict fast melee damage along with crippled and bleeding.

The Dragonmaw: A higher level summonning, a great mix of AoE spells and high damage skills, the downside to this pet is that the warlock must suffer health degeneration in order to maintain summoning this demon.

There it is =)

END OF ONESWORDSMANS IDEA

Onward with the extras

Having the ability to summon more than one monster.

Each type of Summon having Energy degen on you of different amounts. So you have 4 different level types

Rookie which has -1 energy regen Per summon
Intermediate which has -2 energy degen
Advanced which has -4 energy degen
Master which has -8 energy degen or -4 energy and -4 health


Something along those lines. This was an adaption of Mooseys Idea. Its pretty much the same just laid out differently.




Extract from POD (pancake of Doom)

"I was also thinking of something with Demon summoning,
But i was more thinking of a Disciple; one who coul'd not only invoke the powers of Demons and such, but who also could use powers of the Good, the divine in this case.
I know that you already are saying Necromancer and Monk, but this is more based on attacking.

Ancestral Agony: You invoke 2-4 ancestors, based on your primary proffesion, who do 20-64 damage every 3 seconds to each foe in the area.

Demonic Torture: Target foe is captured in air and can't move for 2-6 seconds. Target foe takes 4-12 damage each second and after the 2-6 seconds target foe takes 40-80 fire damage and is set on fire for 2-6 seconds.

But also more this

Celestial Slash: You strike for 10-35 more damage and if target foe was an undead creature target foe takes 10-35 more damage and suffers from -2 health degeneration for 10 seconds. "

Which could be added to the array of abilities that the warlock/diciple/demonologist can have.

Two handed Swords huh? Could extend that to Great axes as well. Any ideas for new types of weaponary?

So far we have:
Great Swords
Great Axes/Helbairds
Spears/Lances
Whips
Instruments
Tomes/Spellbooks
Staff Melee Weapon

Well i also had an idea for a deciever, much like a mesmer ninja hybrid, that uses Long Thin Piercing Needles to throw, it was also my solution for a second ranger profession.

It was based on Haku from naruto .... lol >.< im so sad....


EDIT = and also Hand to Hand, a profession called Pugilist...

Any ideas on what to call it instead? I thought Dragon Mastery, but that sounds boring. There are way too many Masteries.


Dragon Skills lol
How about... Dragon Assistence, or Dragon Ofence... IDK
The guy who quoted the skills and stuff, IDK if you wrote that, but the whole idea of Natural Defence was taken off.
Oh well anyway ANet does whatever they feel. So far I didn't suffer from that. Keep up the great ideas and work!
