Olden days- What are your earliest memories of GW?

Ive been round many a month now...going onto 12+ months next week. I can honestly say this is the single longest time i have spent on any game and are still amused by it. I remember the pre-AoE changes...when griffons were a plenty, and the interface seemed archaic compared to what it looks like now. I even remember some of the old armour skins that have changed in recent months. Who else feels old like me? And what do you remember from long long ago?

RE: Olden days- What are your earliest memories of GW?

I remember the old days where you got the crystaline longsword from rurik when the char broke through the northern gate pre searing. Pre-AoE "nerf"; Rockmolder 20% all; 15% always no downside like 15-22 req7 +15%.

Oneill: Lose it. It means, go crazy. Nuts. Bonzo. No longer in possession of one's faculties - three fries short of a happy meal - WACKO!

RE: Olden days- What are your earliest memories of GW?

I have played since the release of Prophecies, signed up just 1 day after the last Beta event, so I unfortunatly missed that one.

My earliest memories was when I was roaming around Pre-searing thinking that that map was the whole game. I was abit dissapointed, but then when I did the academy quest, I saw that I was quite wrong, and just "Wow! The map is HUGE. This is more like it!"

I also remember, that my first dye drop was a black one. And I used that on my pre-searing armor, thinking it wasn't going to be rare. Or rather, I wasn't thinking much of the future, since it all was new and fresh and "wow" all the time, I just played and enjoyed the game for what it was. Beautiful.

I didn't find another black until 8 months later.

Anyway, first time I played through the game was really something special. All was new. No one knew how to do anything really. You had to have patient, and try. Since all was newbies back then. I miss that time, I really do.
The game was more pure, not much scamming, or overflooded towns. It was quite nice and quiet.

*thinking back of the good old days and gives a deep dreamy sigh*

RE: Olden days- What are your earliest memories of GW?

I rememember when i got GW for my birthday, and installed it and played all day. I got my first char, an E/R to post searing and did every quest out of ascalon city. THen i got bored because i didnt find the Great Northern Wall, so i thought "wow what a lame game and look at all the map that they wasted" and stopped playing. About 6 months later i picked it up and made myself a Wammo. Then i found the great northern wall and slowly progressed.

The good old chests without keys will always stick in my memory. The old HOH with all the undead was very fun to do.

RE: Olden days- What are your earliest memories of GW?

I remember having trouble buying armor in Ascalon city when I first started... at least on my first cahracter I was like OMG you have 1 plat! You must be super rich! <-- At least I am past that stage now and will soon be back to that stage --> buying my Monk Fissure armor (my first set) once I get back home from my sister's graduation to a comp that can run GW :D.

**Go me, I can't spell trouble**

RE: Olden days- What are your earliest memories of GW?

a Day 1 prophesies player myself, i was originally a super-noob, wandering around pre-searing wondering why leveling after 12 was so freaking difficult and why the armor sucked so bad, i had no idea where to get the head-piece and blew tons of dyes on basically "worthless" pre-sear armor. when i got to post-sear after someone randomly asked me why a level 12 was still in pre-sear, i went in there and Deleted my first char, Attana Nightshadow (she was originally a ranger, after deleting the name became a Necromancer, my youngest, yet most equiped char other than my monk) and created the typical Ele/Mesmer to do the storyline, then a Monk because of the demand and complete lack of monks at the beginning of release. an avid MMo player, after the initial noobness GW became a ton of fun.

my earliest memories of Guild Wars in game play was becoming a GW trader when i traded a 15% while enchanted, R11 something hammer for a 14^50, R9 Fellblade... i quickly tried learning the economy and rare weapon types while many others were still pondering what on earth they were doing.

most memorable moments in real life was completely ignoring my GF's (Holly at the time) phone calls. and finding several people in my hometown to play it with, temporarily creating a guild of just people from Saskatoon.

probably the update i hated the most was the aggro on items being held. i was a big time bonder with an amazing build for SF, FA and Oro that basically gave me a crap load of spare time to do other things like talk on the phone, approve content on the site or talk to roomies.

overal, this game has been the best waste of time and the longest streched $50 i've ever spent. lol.

RE: Olden days- What are your earliest memories of GW?

I remember making a W/E, the box used that combination as an example. I left pre-sear at lvl 3 or so with less than 8 skills. I tried the first mission, had no idea what I was doing. Then made my elementalist/monk. Been playing that one ever since.

RE: Olden days- What are your earliest memories of GW?

I remember my first char, a N/Me. His name was Dark Relakis. I was so proud of him and eventually got him Tormenter's armor from Henge of Denravi. In the same day, my former guild leader gave me a Hale Raven Staff of Defense. I thought the skin was so cool. I later deleted him because I didn't like the face. And so, my new necro has been renamed in his honor, Dark Relakis Reborn.

Also, I remember buying better and better weapons for my Warrior. I started out with a 4-6 axe, then bought a 5-10 axe, and so forth.

All my chars have the last name Relakis. I made that name by twisting Reckless around. I didn't plan on naming all my chars like that, but I found it made more sense to do so. So whenever you see a Relakis on your screen, it's probably me.

RE: Olden days- What are your earliest memories of GW?

I remember that feeling when everything is new. It was sweet, so many things, I thought (like others) that Pre-Searing was the game. Then I got to Post and found out...I couldn't stop zooming in and out lol, I was like such a big map!

Meh, it was good when everyone was wondering what to do, not taking off all their armor and asking for "lapdances" lol

Wulfgar Fireblade (W/Mo) | Aryanna Flamebearer (E/Me) | Florin Stormbow (R/*) | Flaye Soulstealer (N/Me) | Dracio Spiritbinder (Rt/Me) | Laiya Divinelight (Mo/Me) | Ryu Daggerdance (A/Mo) | Doctor Jung (*/* - PvP)

I remember when any sup rune sold for 60k, and when you had to use a cap sig, as the boss was. Those were the tough old days. I'm not a huge fan of the rune/material traders, lot harder to get rich with them.
