I think my acc has been hacked....

Every 15-30 min my GW game crashes. So i thought i have to get factions and i bought factions yesterday and it still crashes or kicked off every 15-30 min. Heres what it says the problem:

Theres a message sent by Anet to me and they forced me to read it and they kicked me out of GW. It said:

Hardware problem. Have problem with this? Process by the overheating malfuction or memory chip. Press Ok.

Then after i press Ok it forceably exit GW and they give me this site Guildwar.com/support/help

Im scared dude! What if someone IS hacking my account??? What do i do??? I don't think i trust Anet anymore! If they can kick Bots im sure they can handle this problem right????

Someone help plz!

That is wierd. But the one thing you shouldn't do is fear Anet. Go to guildwars.com and from there you can get to the support part of the site if you don't trust the url that you got.

Yeah i guess. With the good graphics now and then. But i want to be REALLY sure! I want to know if GW or ANET can do a damn crap about this problem. And is it even possible to be hacked?

RE: I think my acc has been hacked....

Its not really possible to get hacked, though password theft can happen. And that falls on you, just change your password everynow and then, and that will stop any possible password thefts.

As for the PC problem, that s all on you. If you are getting an overheatig issue, then your overheating, of course. Open your PC, make sure its clean, like no dust, that can kill PC's fast. Make sure your fans are working aswell.

RE: I think my acc has been hacked....

Yeah... first of all double check your PC Specs, that would be the likely problem if they're telling you there's a -hardware- problem. If everything is up-to-date and GW-capable and you're experiencing these "hardware" problems then you may want to suspect something. Worse comes to worse and you have another panic attack just totally reboot the whole thing and reinstall everything. If it still happens, then consult Arenanet.

Edit (you beat me posting and I can consult the post you just made): If you're simply playing the game then most likely that has nothing to do with it. As long as you're not running like 20 programs and causing mass-lag.

To see some basic info. (like specs) about your computer...

Go to START > Control Panel > Performance And Maintenance > "See Basic Information about your computer"

On the Performance and maintainence section you can also see your hard-drive's free space, and anythign useful.

Good luck (and stop screaming)

It sounds like it is all on the hardware side. Reinstall/update ALL of your drivers, check that you are not overheating the graphics card, and check to make sure you are not drawing too much power. If you post your Comp's specs it might be a little easier to narrow this down for you.

RE: I think my acc has been hacked....

Have you run virus/spyware scans? You can get AVG virus scanner for free and Win Defender if you dont have those scanning apps.

With what little info you just provided i would say you are near the bottom of min requirements for running GW. So shut down everything you can and free up memory.

What is your graphics card?

Thats cool man. If you right click on My Computer select properties, then go to the hardware tab, click device manager, then expand the Display adapters it will tell you about your graphics card.

To expand click on the +

it means you're not allowed to install/alter programs/hardware on your own, talk to your parents as it seems they are hindering you from doing it by yourself.

... on an off note, your comp has double the ammount of CPU power and the same ammount of ram i have, and i never crash or faulter programs. my comp did used to crash and the problem was the intergrated POS graphics setup, i replaced it with an Ati:9600pro... i think it's the only thing keeping this current system going.

RE: I think my acc has been hacked....

I had that thing a lot of times as well, I first reinstalled windows, worked a week without probs, then I thought it would be nice to check out my computer itsself, turned out to be really dusty, you should check it out, maybe it's also just dust, and it is NOT a hack, also DO send the reports...

RE: I think my acc has been hacked....

I've had this problem to lately, because of extreme heat here. All that I had to do was open up my comp, and then use the vacuum cleaner on my proccesor fans. Turns out there was a lot of dust in them, so my comp was like on a boiling point in there. It even got so bad that it didn't want to startup till I left it cooling down like 15 min. Might be the solution, or your vid card is just to sucky.

1 when we the last time that you defraged ur Pc

If not anytime in the past 2-3 weeks try it

2 You said you have 512 ram on the board

You might want to try to go 1 gig of ram

I had the Problem of Lag and would give me a code 007 the disco code and mine was the defrage from all the updates

A freind on his dads Pc we have'n the hole game just crash for no reason found out lack of ram was the problem there

I hope you dont have to try the ram up grade hope its just a system defragment

RE: I think my acc has been hacked....

Alright I have to leave work soon so I will give you a quick run down.

First-- If GW ever operated properly and didn’t crash on you all the time then you should have enough system resources leaving the problem to be either heat/power or software.

If it is a heat problem it might just be that you system has a lot of dust in it and is not getting proper cooling which can damage your system and even cause some funky errors, remember we are dealing with SEMI conductors here their electrical properties change with the temperature. So dust out your system and make sure all fans are working. Check to see but your system should also have no less then a 400W power supply for most gaming applications.

If it is a software problem. Scan for viruses/spyware and get all of that junk off. Then try to reinstall ALL of the drivers you can. Usually you can go to the PC manufacture's website and get most of those. For you graphics card driver I would go straight to the card manufacturer since they update their driver download section more then the PC maker. Then try a reinstall of GW.

Ill try and check back on this topic later.

All this with your parent permission of course, especially since it seems they have properly restricted your login account and they would have to most of this anyway.

Dude, I had 256MB RAM and GW was running great. Just a lil' bit laggy in crowded districts. With my new computer I currently have 512MB also and no problems. It's just the video card, or the computer's stuffed too much, or it's just the heat. (like here it's over 30 degrees Celsius)

RE: I think my acc has been hacked....

Sounds like all was well until one crash happened, is this correct?

A foe most have had the new elite retribution on him and you attacked him to hard and it damaged your computer-dam retribution!!!

Before the problem started did you add any new programs that maybe running in the background, that maybe useing up cpu or ram on you? Had you changed your display setting both in your windows and or in GW itself? If so returning the settings to he way they were may help along with turning off any new program running in the background.

Try lowering your settings in both windows and in GW may help-lower to 600x800 and turn off anti alasing and mayed have details set to low and see how things work then(make a note of all you change so you can return to what it was if need be)

Otherwise your computer maybe dieing-the ram may have gone bye bye-you can download ram testers to test your ram and ram is cheap to replace-you should aim for 256M to 1G if you can afford and your computer can take. Your video may be dieing to but more unlikely-just make sure it is in GW's list of video cards that can be supported-if not replace it. As for cpu you should be in the gigs now for speed if not 2G plus-guild wars is not to much of a pig compared to some games but try for over 2G cpu. Maybe be time for a new computer package with a new cpu(3G),video card(radeon sapphire or nvidia GF6600 and loads of ram(1G) for around $600-$1000!

Test out some other games and see if they are having same problems,

Good luck!!!

RE: I think my acc has been hacked....

TBH I couldn't be bothered reading all the other posts but I have had similar problems with the game which lead to complete system reboots.

Get in touch with ANet and tell them about it. They will start off with the usual tech support rubbish of clean install etc. They'll work up to tests, benchmarks and drivers and eventually (if you still have trouble) hardware tests you can do yourself.

They've been trying to help me for ages with this but I think I've figured out it's an overheating problem...maybe I should tell them that?!?

Write to them and ask, afterall it's their game that's failing and after you've spent all your hard earned £££'s on it you deserve the support. ;-)

EDIT:

ok I went back and read all the other posts...go download this: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html
It's called Everest and will give a full report of your system (Virus scan, check with parents etc first - be safe)

When you open it go to the report menu...quick report...plain text.

Copy and paste the summary only here for people to see and maybe they can get some better ideas. And don't worry, the mods will yell at me if you make a mistake and paste the whole damn thing!!

I have an ATI radeon 300/500XE or something like that, it costs about $70 and i can run gw at full graphics. If you do need to upgrade, you can probably get away with that.

RE: I think my acc has been hacked....

I am almost 100% sure you are not hacked. It looks like it is hardware, or a video driver issue. Because if someone hacked your account, when they log in, it would just log you out, not crash.

But!

If someone some how hacked your account, you should reset your password atleast, on the log in screen. Make sure, you know and have access to the email address you registered with before you do this though.

Now, if it is hardware, the cpu and ram meet the requirements, not great, but ok. I suspect it is more likely the video card. To check what video card you have you can:

Start / Control Panel / Appearance & Themes / Display

or (Depending on how your control panel is set)

Start / Control Panel / Display

In the new window, click Settings

You should get the newest drivers for it, some popular companies are:

ATI
nVIDIA
Intel

I hope that helps.
